I've made two brilliant points and I can't believe they aren't music to everyone's ears...

Over the last two days the only thing we've learned is that we're in talks with Grealish over a new contract, we already knew that others would be interested in him.

Man City's previous transfer record is £60m, they're unlikely to double that in order to buy Grealish, they can be as seriously interested all they like but they won't get him if they don't pay what we'd want, and Grealish is unlikely to go on strike or anything like that so we won't be forced to accept a low offer.

Why are you (and most people) believing the press reports that we've offered him a new contract, but not believing the press reports that £100m will likely be enough to get him?

Beacsue the leaks apparently sourced from people that actually matter, like purslow, say its not happening

Gabby knows next to **** all and his job is get bites and traffic on a national radio show

I'd rather be in denial than believe him

Gabby spoke to Jack yesterday, and wants Jack to stay. He says Jack wants to go. Why would he make this up? Answer - he wouldn't

You really think our owners would accept just 100m.  His value to us on and off the pitch is more than that.  100m is a huge amount of money without doubt, but what he brings into the club is huge, that’s not replaceable.

I wouldn't sell him for any fee. But what we know is that he nearly went last year, and then signed a new 5 year contract. It's not unreasonable to assume that he did this with the understanding that he'd be allowed to leave if a certain amount was matched.

Jeeze, that’s like believing them Twitter ITKs

Reliable journalists from The Athletic, The Independent, etc have been saying for months that Jack will go if City offer £100m, and that City intend to do so. People have been in massive denial for months

Open a can... its gone within a couple of mins, if not quicker. Never one to sip or pace myself.

Also, tastes much better out of a can than a plastic bottle. Not sure why? Maybe it can get colder in a can? Or maybe its a mental thing, i don't know, but I never buy bottles.

Massively this. IMO the pecking order goes fast food container>glass bottle>can>plastic bottle. If a plastic bottle is the only option, I won't bother.

The guys Twitter is a shambles. Tell me that this article doesn't smack of desperate click bait desperation with zero substance but hey it's clearly reached a market

You haven't a clue what you're talking about

Don't have a subscription. It strikes me club PR via the Athletic to get the fans back onside after the CL debacle.

Nah, Sam Lee is reliable. He's also far from the first reliable source to say that City want Jack, so it's almost certainly true. Hopefully they won't be able to sell anyone in his position or I fear he'll be gone

Most assists by a English player in the PL despite playing for a mid table side and missing a third of the season with injury.

No brainer he will be in the squad. Don't know if Southgate has the balls to start him.

Kane got more assists, but agree he'll make the squad and should be a nailed-on starter

Thought he looked class in his cameo. Nearly scored and seems to have that Grealish awareness when on the ball which is decent quality to have.

Ramsey hasn't looked too bad at times but Carney looks next level from how he came on in difficult match situation and acted like it was a kickabout with his mates.

I suspect we'll be seeing plenty more of him on Sunday and next season.

Agree that he looks great. Don't think we'll see him Sunday, as the Youth Cup final is on the next day. Might see JPB, as he's over-age for that

Not sure you can give it to Jack when he didn’t play for 3 months.

    Has to be Emi.

Normally I'd agree but Jack was arguably the best player in the league across the rest of the season, and we went to pot without him, so I think he has a shout. Emi would also be a more than worthy winner though. What a signing

Got my vote. I gave Ollie some serious consideration for his excellent first season in the prem but Martinez has been total quality since we bought him. Our best goalkeeper since Friedel by a country mile.

He's far better than Friedel IMO

Musso is actually the Emi equivilant in Serie A, good for Udinese and they've kept loads of clean sheets despite being bottom half all season so can see him being picked up by one of the top 6 in Serie A.

Argentina still got to call up their Argentine league players so that includes Armani who's been their number one since third game of the 2018 world cup. Sums it up he's easily the worst of the four yet their number one.

Emi will get games for them though this summer.

Ledesma is very poor, can't believe he's in the squad. Argentina have actually gone from having no good keeper to having loads. Emi, Musso, Armani, Esteban Andrada, Walter Benitez, Sergio Romero, Agustin Marchesin, Nahuel Guzman, etc

As for POTS, Jack and Emi are the only candidates in my eyes. Jack has been by far our best player as always, but with him having missed 12 games, there's an argument for Emi

The articles, Tweets, quotes from the club, player and agent himself are never taken into account. However the paper talk, fan feelings and " My uncles auntie said "is always " factual " and creates " fears " .

They don't need him, and won't be paying 100 mill for him either.

Not sure what you're on about there. So articles are ok but not paper talk? 😂

What quotes from his agent am I not taking into account? The ones where he said lots of clubs are interested and he might stay or might go? Because that's literally what I've said.

Also not sure when I put forward any claims from my 'uncle's auntie' or any kind of ITK nonsense.

We all want him to stay (though I seem to remember you saying we should sell him when he was quiet for a couple of games post-lockdown). All I'm saying is that teams most certainly will want him, and will pay top dollar for him. Hopefully he sticks around

No we didn’t but it’s likely our record spend will go up year on year, City have been spending big for years but it’s £60m -£80m on a lot of players, I know pundits and sky have brainwashed most into thinking it’s wrong for teams like us to have ambition and hold on to star players but we don’t have to or need to sell!

I'm far from brainwashed, and totally agree that we shouldn't sell! I just fear that we might. Jack was clearly not opposed to going last summer, and will know he's easily good enough to be winning trophies and playing in the Champions League. Reliable journalists have said that Manchester City are interested. Hopefully we can convince him to stay again

Will it still be on VillaTV for £1.99?

I take it BT dont do day passes like Sky do (NowTV)?

BT Sport is on NowTV as part of the Sports Extra package so may be worth looking into whether you could get a day pass with that

"No designs on seeking a move" eh? Why can't these people just use normal English and say what they mean instead of wrapping everything up in fancy meaningless words to make them sound clever.

Unsurprisingly, it's a misquote from the Birmingham Mail. Essentially, he said that Jack's just concentrating on his football and we'll see what pans out...

The trialist is Zac Brown again, some websites have Patterson down as Ethan Patterson, but last I heard he was playing in Iceland, so I presume it must be Travis Patterson on the bench, doesn't turn sixteen until October.

Any update on Charlie Lutz? Think he's the same age group as Patterson but haven't heard anything on him for ages
