A second whinge from me about the badge...but you can see what sort of problem we have with our branding with this new design.
At least with the old shield it was a unique shape, and in monochrome the lion stood out.
Heck will want to sort that imo.
The coloured badge in the actual playing jersey works better in that respect.

I think it would be better for him to be with us for a bit longer before being loaned out, whether he's too young or not.

Didn't tell us anything we didn't know tonight. Confident in his ability, can beat a man, but still no end product.
Not sure I agree with the 'no end product' in this review.
A nice ball across that Watkins was close to, winning a corner from a last ditch interception. A shot that deflected closely wide. Another shot from his weaker foot that was a good effort from the edge of the box. (Those last two created by himself by winning the ball back first)
There was also the break away where we scored the third where his cutback was struck against the post. Add as well that he won a penalty against Walsall.
He can be held to 'no end product' if counting goals and assists... but I'd say that's a pretty good attacking output - Involved in two goals and worked the keeper/defence with his other two main chances against Newcastle.

It looked like Isak was offside but Anderson ran from deeper.
I'm not sure that would be given.

What a scummy, scummy team Newcastle are.
Bournemouth were shit heads in our first match back up, Newcastle were just as bad last season.
How they can be so niggly and petty in a friendly is ridiculous. Bet they had over 20 fouls.
We will batter these from a footballing perspective whenever we play them. Whether that's enough to win against them is a different story though

His brain takes two clicks longer than it should do.

Rusty as hell.
Will give away penalties.
Will play delicious passes in to strikers. (Could be ours, could be the opposition)

Looks a very good prospect.
Reminded me of Jacob Ramsey when he first came into the first team in the way that you could just tell his touch, balance, passing, and confidence were all natural enough to not have to think about.

Scares the shit out of me every time he has the ball, or has to do something with the ball.

Fairly standard Buendia performance imo...maybe with a bit extra power from somewhere.
Involved in most (if not all) of our best creative work...but has still given the ball away when attempting through balls which frustrates at times.

If Diaby starts off playing the same way we'll all say he's settled in well and looks a player.
Tired towards the end of the half but showed so much in the first 35 mins.
He's a confident lad. If we can build on that, he'll be worth a squad place.

Decent half. Some really great football from us. Easily the better team.
The reasons for giving away the goals are the same reasons that have made all the chances for us to score from. Part and parcel of our style.

What about the Spanish U21 keeper who's contract has run out at Barca?
I'm assuming he'd be able to play out will confidence.

This is the 'Scudetto'.
A lot of people think the scudetto is the league title...but it's the Italian badge you get to wear as an honour for winning the league.

Part of me wonders whether Howe has the next step in him.
He strikes me as the type of manager who does well when it's a matter of making average/good players raise their game...but may struggle if he's trying to merge that with some genuine top players.
Will be interesting to find out.
(Ultimately I hope he crashes and burns though for our sake)

Gordon won player of the tournament?!?

De Gea had the most clean sheets in the league last year with 17. He had 3 more than Pope in 2nd place.
He's only 32 so somebody should take a chance on him unless his wages aren't ridiculous.
I find it amazing he won the award for the most amount of clean sheets. He must have spent the other 21 games passing to the opposition and letting shots go straight through him.
Pretty sure he made the most amount of errors leading to opposition goals. A really strange pair of stats.

Cole Palmer is a bit of a tit isn't he.
And on comes they guy with the perm
Thought that after he scored and celebrated by staring down someone after an awful free kick viciously deflected into the opposite corner.

OOf. Tim Vickery confirms that Martinez would consider a move to a Champions League club, though not unhappy at Villa. Report came out of Argentina.
Would be absolutely gutted.
We know this though, right.
It's the case with every one of our players right now imo.

I think we are talking about different things here. Slow when crawling on the ground as in the Brentford mistake yes. Fumbling with the ball yes. Moving slowly across the line, perhaps yes. But - one of his best features is that he goes to ground quickly, especially with his foot-parades, and that he is quite agile in that sense, not at least for being so tall, also means he has good range with his long legs and arms.
Many on here judge him on the few games for villa (and yes he has been woeful and shouldnt have been signed in the first place). But for ppl who have followed his career in the Swedish National team the picture is a bit more nuanced.
Just as an example the Swedish manager (whom I’d like to be dismissed btw) said there is no GK in the world he’d rather have than Robin Olsen, or something like that. I hugely disagree, but it says quite much about Olsen nevertheless compared to some of the adolecent comments about him on here (not aimed at you or MaVilla)
I'll admit I haven't seen him outside of Villa...but his work in the Premier League is the most important thing to look at imo. I just don't think we have seen this agility in the PL , certainly not enough to class it as one of his strengths.
Ultimately, he's not a good fit for us and by the sounds of it hasn't shown his best whisky he's been here.

He used 'voila' quite a lot...which I imagine is a gap fill very similar to 'y'know'.
