To be fair, from this seasons performances Westwood doesn't to even be considered for England.

After today's performance, i'm very excited for the return of Samir... just the type of player we need right now.

If this thread had been made after today then the votes would be very, very different.

I've never seen how some of the teams played in the earlier part of his career (e.g. Inter Milan), but as of the last handful of years Roy Hodgson has produced awful football from sides with no results.

I am not exaggerating when I say that, for me, he is a decrepit Alex McLeish.

In response to KJP, I'd rather see gabby on one wing and bacuna/tonev on the other... Don't personally think Andreas is too effective in wide midfield.

Wouldn't have thought Herd was the type of player Postecoglou would be after. He's more of a throw-back to the socceroos of the 80's as far as technical ability is concerned.

 

That said, it would be a good move for Herd. The A-League is on about par with the Championship anyway....

When was the last time a big club forked out multi millions for a star in the A-League (e.g. Zaha and United) ..? I don't think you can say it is on the same level as the championship seeing as newly promoted clubs have come up in the past and stayed up without buying tons of new players, however I extremely doubt any A-League team would survive in the prem.

Hodgson is a decrepit fool and England won't come close to achieving anything with him managing.

(And by managing I mean having a sit down and looking like he needs someone to give him a flask and a blanket whilst the rest of the management team do their jobs.)

The part in the interview about all the lads staying for a couple hours after training just to "soak in the shower" and "talk rubbish" shows there is a good team spirit.

As "obvious" as that seems to you I extremely doubt either of those will happen, think they're both concentrating on players they're signing not others.

Interesting that he's been given No. 27.

 

I'm very pleased with our signings this summer, I'm still hoping though that AM comes in. Looking unlikely though.

Why is it interesting?

I'm not saying a "CAM" wouldn't improve the team, don't get me wrong I would be as excited as anyone to see one come in! However the fact a large proportion of people are pinning all their hopes on us signing one and insinuating it would be the answer to all our problems shows just how short memories football fans have... the last/only player we have had who is comparable to this "creative midfielder who floats around picking passes" (which I can remember) is currently sitting in his 12 bedroom house with a shisha pipe in his mouth talking to his nan over the phone through super fast broadband payed for by non other than Randy Lerner.

As excited I am about Villa signing players, do we really need another big strong Centre Forward? We have Benteke and Helenius, surely 2 is enough for that role???

Looks to me like Helenius is almost like a more skilful Peter Crouch, looking to finish moves and make a couple through balls... Far different from the role of Benteke: 

I tend to believe Kendrick/Birmingham Mail on these sort of things, however if it turns out to be a permanent signing then I will unquestionably take HH's word as a matter of fact from then on. 

Yeah someone had a shot from outside the box with about twenty minutes to go he had to save, however it was straight at him so no real test.
