  1. Who seriously thinks Allardyce would accept a 6 month contract? Get real, he wants long term
  2. Far too easy to say "OMFG HOULLIER OUT!11!!!!!11", who do you propose to replace him, and if you say Big Sam I'll lose all faith with this club and the fans.
  3. I would rather go down with Houllier than listen to that clown's faux pas of a English/German/Dutch/Brummy accent if he came here, think I would rather have Hitzlsperger as manager
  4. What is this obsession with Paul Lambert, decent manager with potential but if Houllier was to go we'd need a manager who can make things happen now, not someone who might. Seems whenever one person mentions a name everyone else mentions it too, a la Jol
  5. Nice one Sportsmail Reporter, love how reliable you are that you can't even state your name
  6. I'm not really sure what proof there is for this? I mean, you might be right, but unless we actually attend all the training sessions it's pretty difficult to know if he's that crap. Unless someone has some inside information on him. Just strikes me as scapegoating a little. It's not really scapegoating, nor is it pushing the blame away from Houllier because I am well aware of the mess he has contributed to, but I simply do not think Mcallister is the right man to be an assistant. I would much rather prefer someone like Ray Wilkins, Chris Hughton (don't think he would come here to be number two) or Kevin MacDonald.
  7. I think if we are to keep Houllier then we must surely get a better number two than Gary **** Mcallister. I know keeping Houllier isn't what everyone wants but maybe Kev Mac as number 2 instead because Mcallister is clueless and surely he's not helping. What has he actually done since he's been here? This job is too big for him
  8. This is pretty much my view on it too, would not be a great idea to sack him now as I do believe he will turn this around. Every club goes through bad form just look at Wolves, 4 wins in their past 7 after being in the bottom 3 for so long.
  9. This has become more of a snowychap vs John_Lewrwill thread than a Houllier thread now.
  10. Quite a few of us didn't want him here in the first place, we thought he was going to be shit for us but obviously 'wished' him to do well. So for those it isn't knee jerk, simply confirmation of their original opinions 5 months ago. Fair enough, not going to argue with the fans who originally thought he wouldn't be good for us.
  11. We need a proven manager, we don't need someone who 'could' be one. Whatever happens I just hope the club have thought long and hard about it and make sure that it will be the right decision because if we get rid of Houllier and get someone in who gives us even worse performances and results, imagine everyone's reaction then
  12. O'Neill played a better game than Allardyce ever has although it is fairly similar. He would probably suit us but don't think it is the right option. No way should we even be thinking of him. It's far too easy to say Houllier out after the performances and results, far too many kneejerk reactions, pretty glad the board haven't been the same
  13. i respest your opinion to mate, at the end of the day we all want whats best for the club. like i have said before, i'd eat a large slice of humble pie if GH keeps us in the league. I'm pretty sure everyone on here just wants what's best for the club, if he keeps us up fair enough, if we have to sack Houllier and can find someone else to take over who is proven and can keep us up and has potential to stay here long term then fair enough. As long as the future of Aston Villa is not ruined and we can stay in the league. I'm not as huge a Houllier fan as some people make out but I just don't think it would be right for any manager to be sacked in this position and at this point of the season. I hope we can sort out this mess soon
  14. Don't think you can say STH are any less of a fan than a non STH. For what it's worth I'm a season ticket holder and while Sam Allardyce might be good short term, his performance in potentially keeping us up would keep him here long term. This is my point. I do not want to see him anywhere near this club. I'm desperately trying not to enter into a "better fan" competition. But I do wonder whether those who go to the games possibly have a greater short term survival focus than those who dont go to the games. Though what you're saying goes against the grain of this idea. Tricky one because I'm not sure whether STH would want to watch his football either

  16. At the end of the day Fran I respect your opinion and that's what this message board is for but I just can't agree with you. If we got Sam Allardyce he would be here long term as Lerner won't sack Houllier so what makes you think he'll do the same with big Sam. Let's just agree to disagree as I've argued my side of this enough now so just feel like I'm going around in circles mate
  17. It is MON's team alright, but any decent manager imo should be able to go in and get something out of a team of players, it is normal for this to happen you know, do you think he should be able to just bring in 11 new players or something??. No. There are obviously some players there he sees fitting into his side, otherwise he wouldn't be trying to change the way we played so quickly. He should be given a chance to buy 3 or 4 players who can fit into the team and see what happens. If it's not working but we miraculously stay up, fine, go, but would be foolish sacking him now. For what it's worth if we get relegated he'll get sacked but we can't afford any kneejerk reactions and I don't want us to end up with Allardyce of all managers.
  18. at the moment we need a british or english style manager to get these players going, because thats the type of football they are used to. for me Sam is the best that we could bring straight in. even curbs would be better than what we have imo. for what reason do you think GH is the right man to lead us out of the mess he has got us into??.the players seem to hate him, most of the fans hate him at this stage so what makes him so good, i'm sure he's never been in a relegation battle in his life so what makes GH so qualified to get us up and running?. I don't necessarily think he is the right man for the job and even I was walking out of VP last night thinking he was clueless for not making any subs until the 88th minute, but it would be irrational and incredibly foolish to sack him at the start of January when we are desperate for some players. By the time a new manager has come in and assessed the squad, had a few games to see who can play for him/who can't and identified targets, it will be February. It's just not feasible at this moment in time, if he was going to go he would have gone in December
  19. At the end of the day Houllier has tried to change everything far too quickly and has struggled as this is O'Neill's team. That's it really. It isn't easy working with other people's tools. No further argument or reasoning, but probably further implications.
  20. So it must be true then. No. But it must have some kind of substance.
  21. Fine, we sack Houllier, who replaces him? We can't keep having short term managers otherwise we have to keep starting again every single season. Kevin Macdonald - no thanks, should never even be considered as a long term replacement for Houllier. Sam Allardyce - branded a long ball specialist and a shite manager by most on here previously but now he's good enough for Villa? Ok to get us out of this mess but If Randy won't sack Houllier what makes you think he will sack Allardyce after he's got us out of this mess?(which isn't even proven that he will) and then we will be stuck with long ball route one set piece football for 4 years. Martin Jol - Can someone please tell me what he has done to warrant such an approval from almost all Villa fans? He wasted money at Tottenham and got sacked in October, he's won one cup with Ajax and that's it. Houllier has infact won more than him in his managerial career. Infact Houllier won more honours than him at Lyon than he has in his whole career. It seems the majority are just going along with this candidate because he's the best person available, would he do better than Houllier? Not too sure. Who else?
  22. Pretty sure Gazton said that Houllier made it up about Ireland asking to leave. And if you believe that "My Villa Hell" article that was in one of the red tops, there are absolutely no quotes in it
