  1. Is it just me who thought he looked a decent player with the exception of the horrendous shooting.....? Going against the norm but I wouldn't mind him given another chance

i also thought he was rather decent.

TIM SHERWOOD has tabled a stunning £9million bid for Nice left-back Jordan Amavi.

Aston Villa’s boss made the offer yesterday and hopes for permission to fly in the young defender this weekend.

  3. Coach Nicolas Anelka

Nicolas Anelka named Mumbai City player-manager

Former Chelsea and Arsenal striker Nicolas Anelka has been named player-manager of Mumbai City.

Anelka, 36, played for the Indian Super League side last season under ex-Manchester City manager Peter Reid.

"He impressed us all with his tactical knowledge and excellent motivational skills," said Mumbai City co-owner and Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor.

Anelka has filled a player-coach role before during a season spent at Chinese club at Shanghai Shenhua in 2012.

The Frenchman only managed two goals in seven league games in his first season at Mumbai but returns as the club's 'marquee' player, meaning he is eligible for a higher salary.

Aston Villa considering double swoop for Nice duo

Villa reportedly meet French club's €8m valuation for defender Jordan Amavi and Aston Villa are reportedly planning a double raid on French side Nice for Jordan Amavi and Valentin Eysseric.

Lyon had a €4million bid for talented French defender Amavi kicked back prompting other clubs to express an interest.

Villa were one of them, and are now thought to be the only club that have met the Ligue 1 team’s valuation having offered in the region of €8million.

And the Claret and Blues are thought to be the only club chasing Amavi’s teammate Eysseric, a 23-year-old attacking midfielder.

The only stumbling block in the Amavi deal appears to be the player himself.

According to reports, the 21-year-old is “not sure” about switching to Villa despite being offered a healthy financial package.

  5. Stats like that don't indicate a fudge punch clear against West Brom that lead to the Gardner winner....letting a Konchesky shot squirm past him for Leicester's winner, kicking the ball against Gomis that he was very lucky to get away with and then it happening for real against Aguero and City.

Believe me I'm a big Guzan fan, my posts on this thread indicate this but I can't believe anyone who watched last season couldn't see his standards dipped a bit for a variety of reasons.

Hence I agreed with him being taken out of the firing line for a bit. Long term future depends on who the new keeper is, if it's not Begovic standard I'd stick with Brad tbh and hope the rest has done him good, mentally more than anything.

I totally agree with this statement. Hopefully we can get a new GK to push him further that Given has done.

  6. He had a pretty shit season. Imo was one of the worst keepers in the PL. But if we can bring in a new keeper that can push Guzan we would see the guzan from a couple years ago.

Washington (CNN)The Justice Department has sent subpoenas to several major airlines as part of an investigation into "possible unlawful coordination" to limit capacity increases, and thereby keeping ticket prices high, a department spokeswoman said Wednesday.

The department sent civil investigative demand letters to airlines on Tuesday, Justice spokeswoman Emily Pierce said.

At issue is whether different airlines are coordinating to keep capacity -- the number of seats available on planes -- stable, having the effect of keeping ticket prices high.

How the airlines have coordinated isn't immediately clear, but among the evidence that investigators is considering includes public comments by airline executives and industry analysts.

In recent years, the Justice Department allowed two major airline mergers to take place -- including United and Continental, as well as American and U.S. Airways. Industry groups have cited the merging of airlines as an example of the business has gotten tougher for consumers.

"If not for the radical consolidation we have seen in the airline industry in the last few years, we probably would not even be having this conversation. Now that four carriers control 85 percent of domestic routes, 'collusion' is a thought that's constantly going to be in the back of the minds of federal regulators," U.S. Travel Association President and CEO Roger Dow said in a statement.

A United Airlines spokesperson confirmed to CNN that the airline has received a letter from the DOJ "and we are complying with their requests."

American Airlines said they also had received notice from the Justice Department.

"We welcome the review ... Demand has been enabled by a robust and competitive marketplace in which capacity has been added and average fares have decreased," a spokesperson for American Airlines said. "We will cooperate fully with the investigation and demonstrate that the last two years have presented an entirely new competitive landscape that has greatly benefited air travel consumers."

A spokesperson from Southwest Airlines confirmed receiving notice from Justice and said, "We'll cooperate fully in answering any questions the (Justice Department) has of us."

JetBlue said they have not been contacted for the investigation.

The Associated Press first reported on the Justice Department investigation.

As it was an airline thread thought I would pop this up.

  8. I had hope that he could regain form and at the beginning of Tim's reign he did but he's not good enough anymore. Can't help but wonder how much of his decline is due to his horrible injury a few years back.
