  1. Being away from the Internet for almost two months I now get to see that Jores Okore seems to be a succes in Villa. Reading through the last pages I got a few comments to the thread. FC Nordsjælland always plays with a high defending line. Jores Okore after a match against Chelsea said: "It didn't matter if they got past me, at I just could run them up". I see that you have noticed his speed. Actually his speed was measured as the highest speed in the Danish Superliga in the spring 2013. We certainly do miss him in FC Nordsjælland as we still are playing with a high defending line but with no one with a speed as Jores Okore had. We saw that i the qualifying round for Champions League against Zenith St. Petersburg as we lost 1-5. Jores Okore does not have experience from playing left CB from more than one or two games. He has never played left back or right back. When in ball posistion FC Nordsjælland played with a 3-man defence with Jores in the middle or to the right. When defending FC Nordsjælland played with at four man defence with Okore as right CB. At training the Club has experimented with a 3-man defence with Okore as right CB or in the middle. The Danish national team always plays with two CB. He has never played as RB in any match. There were others wanting Okore besides VIlla. Roumours on Danish football Communities mentions: Benfica, Juventus, Genoa, Newcastle, Liverpool, Manchester City, Dynamo Kiev, Manchester United, Chelsea, Fulham Lyon. It is confirmed that he has said no to Dynamo Kiev and Chelsea. Dortmund was also after him but turned him Down as they found that he was to small. Look forward to see if he will start against Liverpool. Okore has by the way in an interview stated that Daniel Agger recommended Villa to him and that it was one of the reasons why he chose the Club.
  2. According to almost all Danish media Okore was sold slightly over £4m (Dynamo Kiev, Dnipro, Fulham, Chelsea have been reported to have offered 4,2 mio but have been turned Down by Okore) and at 15k per week. Are you saying £4m (English pounds, not Euros)? Thanks Yes £4m English Pound equivalent to 4,7 mio Euros or 31 mio Danish Kroner. The German Transfer Site "Transfermarkt" also confirms this Price: http://www.transfermarkt.com/en/jores-okore/transfers/spieler_129085_884621.html

  4. I remember how Graham Taylor decided between Kent Nielson, Derek Mountfield & Paul McGrath..................He picked all 3 of 'em & went 3 5 2. Vlaar Okore & Baker...............why not? How many options are we going to have next season? What a great problem for Lambo to solve. FC Nordsjælland has experimented with a 3-man defence with Jores ind the middle and also to the right. It has only been used a few times in matches but has often been used at training. Sometimes the 3-man defence has also been without Okore as he in the end of the match has been moved up as an extra forward if FC Nordsjælland was close to lose the match. Jores Okore actually scored 4 goals for FC Nordsjælland during the season. He scored both with left and right foot and header.
  5. Almost all Danish media has reported that he has been sold for just over 4 mio £. FC Nordsjælland and Okore has earlier turned Down offers from Dynamo Kiev, Dnipro, Fulham and Chelsea at 4,2 mio. £. It was reported that the day before the deal was closed Everton also was willing to pay 4 mio. £. I therefore find it unlikely that he should had been sold for 2,5 mio. £ as another user suggest. The German site "Transfermarkt" also states that the Price was just over 4 mio. £. You can see a lot of statistics on Okore on the link http://www.transfermarkt.com/en/jores-okore/transfers/spieler_129085_884621.html
  6. In a Interview in a Danish Newpaper today Okore tells that he has been going through his transfer to Villa with Daniel Agger that stated that Okore no doubt had the abilty to play in PrL. In the same intervew Okore tells that his idol is Marcel Desailly.
  7. I do to a certain extent agree with the former oppinions from Danish supporters in this thread on Helenius. I do see him as a long-term Investment for the Club as he is not ready to play at PrL level yet. There is no doubt that he is talented. He is technically good but, as mentioned earlier, weak in the aerial play. At a long-term level he could develop to a player at a high level due to his talent. I would be very surprised to see him in the start-up line this year. He has earlier stated that his aim was Dutch football or English football if the Club were ready to Invest the necessary time and education in him before he was able to play in the PrL. Quite a lot in this thread are impressed with his many goals. It should be noted that he is also the player in the Superliga that has used most attempts to score his goals. I do not think that he would get as many chances to score in the PrL. Being up against quality players I find him to weak yet. For instance Okore never had a problem controlling him. Helenius has never scored against FC Nordsjælland with Okore in the start-up line. He has also scored at the U-21 National team. But this has been against nations such as Faro Islands, Macedonia, Nothern Ireland and Serbia. Helenius is not at traditional targetman with his week aerial play. He does however impress with his number of assists. There is no doubt that Helenius is talented. On a long term he could be an interesting player for Villa. Do however not expect to much of him the first year.
  8. Well thats more than what he had per month in FC Nordsjælland. FCN signed a long-term contract with him when he was 18 just before he was elected to his first Under-21 national National Team. He had a salary in FCN at app. 7k per month. Even though football salaries are much lower in Denmark it was known to be one of the most favourable salaries for any Danish Club taken his quality into consideration.
  9. How do you think he will fit with Vlaar as the CB partnership? Vlaar currently plays on the right side. Welcome BTW its great to be adopting so many new fans! Well I must admit that I do not know much about Vlaar. Okore has almost only been playing as right CB. In FC Nordsjælland his role has mostly been to take the fights outside the field wheras the left back takes the fights inside the field. When FC Nordsjælland has been in ball possesion they usually play with a three-man defence with Jores to the far right or in the middle. One of his forces then is to open up the defence with precise passes either long diagonal passes to the left wing or shorter passes to No. 10 or No. 6. He quite often plays the ball back to the goalkeeper when under pressure, as ball possesion is important for Nordsjælland.
  10. "Jo" is pronounced like "sho" i "show". "res" is pronounced like "res" in "resolution". "res" is stressed. But I guess that he will end up with some English prononounciation.
  11. My first post as a brand new Aston Villa Fan! I must confess that Jores Okore is the reason that I suddenly find myself as a Villa fan. I have been following Jores Okore since his first game for FC Nordsjælland in March 2010. I remember that I was deeply impressed when this 18-year old kid was up against the star of them all in the Superliga Dame N’doye playing for FC Kopenhagen (now Spartak Moscow) and won the battle between the two. Some facts about Jores Okore: Dynamo Kiev, Fulham, Chelsea has already been offering app. 5 mio pounds for him but have all been turned down. Peter Schmeichel recommended him to Sir Alex in Man U. Top clubs such as Man U, Dortmund, Juventus, Liverpool have been following him for quite some time. He has won 2 cup finals, 1 Danish Championship and 1 silver medal with FC Nordsjælland. This season he has been vice-captain of the team. He has been playing 7 matches for the National Team and was part of the National Team at the European Chamionship though he did not play. Besides he has been playing two seasons for the “league national team” in the winter break of the Superliga. He was last year named “Danish Talent of the Year” by the players of the National Team, Superligaen and 1st Division – in front of a player such as Christian Eriksen from Ajax. He has played 5 Champions League matches (was injured in the 6th). Jores has been playing for FC Nordsjælland since his youth. He has been trained in FC Nordsjælland Barcelona inspired system with many passes and keeping the ball at the ground. One of his competencies is long diagonal passes forward. The main forces of Jores is his physics (it is told that when using the former playing suit of FC Nordsjælland he needed to have special short due to his heavily muscular legs). He is seriously strong! He has for many years stated that his favorite league was the English league – especially due to the man-to-man clashes during the match. Secondary force is his speed. He had the 10.th fastest sprint in the Superliga in the previous season and the fastest of all defenders. After the first Champions League match against Chelsea he told that he discovered that it did not matter if they passed him as he could easily run them up again. Even though he is only 20 he is quite experienced. In Danish Forums it has been discussed if he is ready to play PrL. The absolute majority says yes (PrL is heavily exposed on Danish TV) though some skepticals aren’t absolutely sure. However almost everyone is sure that he is better than the excisting CB’s of Villa. Critical problems about Jores Okore: I see that many have seen the video from the Chelsea – FC Nordsjælland match. I much state that this was one of the best matches Jores have ever played. Even though I have seen many close to. Playing at the national team Jores have never played as well as he does for FC Nordsjælland. His top performance in the spring has not been as outstanding as it was in the autumn though mistakes coming from lacking experience have been minimized. My personal judgment of Jores in PrL is that he is ready to take the step to a club placed in the middle of the league. However, being only 20 some mistakes might be seen still. Of personality Jores is modest, hard working and popular among his team mates. Even though he has received quite some yellow cards he is a fair player. His opponents just tends to fall around him. Sorry for eventually grammar mistakes. FORZA VILLA! – or whatever you say in my new favorite club.
