  1. Would be nice to see us get 60% possession at home. Not because it is everything (although if you have it, they can't score) but because it gives you a chance to knacker the opposition out. That way you can pick them off in the last twenty minutes if you haven't scored already. Just think we are too direct. A shame cos we could see the football taking shape at the end of last season.

I don't want to rain on his parade, but this guy is the luckiest footballer i have seen. He did two good things the set up and he goal, but his overall play was very poor, and lowton is a much better right back and right wing back.. Don't get me wrong, he scored and he set one up, but he made so many positional mistakes i don't see how anyone can say he's a decent right back.

    Someone gets it.

I don't know how many live games or full matches people have seen on here but I'm finding this love fest a little odd. He took a great free kick I'll grant you and that has bought him a fair bit of time, but that first half was a nightmare. I don't know how he remained on the pitch after half time.

Man City targeted him and they tore him a new one. Not only that but he proved incapable of playing football to get out of trouble.

If he can score like that every game then he can keep his place but i seriously doubt it.

I hope he proves me wrong and I await the abuse.

Absolute nonsense about people watching the game, I'll tell you why he was getting overrun, because the Man City left side that tore Man United to shreds with Kolorov being like a second winger, KEA was sometimes dropping too much into midfield and was not supporting him, so he was getting doubled up. Whereas on the otherside Sylla was cutting out Zabaleta. So Luna who looked weak the previous week actually looked stronger because he had support from Sylla, to cut out the threat from Zabaleta. The first half generally the whole side were poor, because it was so concentrated on keeping City out.

I agree with the last bit. The rest, we'll see - if he continues at RB expect to see a lot more 'targeting' IMO.

I've seen nothing in Bacuna that tells me he is anything other than terrible. He can take a set piece it seems but nothing else.

He can't actually play football from what i can see. constantly hoofing it and unable to pass or control a ball.

He has a first touch worse than Jimmy Saville.

Having said that, great free kick so I am willing to eat humble pie if proved wrong long term, but i don't see a premier league footballer.

And that's why you're sitting at home eating a pot noodle and not working as a professional football scout.

Hate pot noodle. I sincerely hope he proves me wrong long term. I will hold my hands up if he does but first half he was a mess.

I think last night is the final nail in the coffin for Marc at avfc. Time to let bygones be bygones.

    Can't agree.

Universally accepted as our best player last night.

Means very little I'm afraid. It's like saying Mao was better than Stalin.

    Do they play for Chelsea?

  7. I don't think you will find many who will write him off after just one game but the fact remains for me (IMO) that that was the worst debut I can remember seeing in a Villa shirt.

That was like a poor pub player out there, it was that bad.

If he makes it here, the improvement will have to be truly staggering. Let's hope it is for his sake and ours.

It shows how far standards have fallen here at Villa that being played off the park in one half and having most of the ball without really doing anything with it in the other is now chalked down by many as a good performance.

Yep agreed. Liverpool won at a canter.

Liverpool had one shot on target the entire match (unless I fell asleep which is entirely possible). If the FA were able to hand out zero points to both teams then that game would have easily qualified.

  9. A lot of people on here need to go to opposition grounds in with the home fans. Living in London I go to a lot of matches with my London club supporting mates. I went to Chelsea, Arsenal and came up to Brum to see the Liverpool match.

You really have no idea just how quiet the Emirates is. They used to call Highbury the library, that place is a vacuum. Chelsea the same. And this is with highly successful teams!!!

I was in the upper North for the Liverpool game and while the Holte was hardly the colosseum, it could certainly made itself be heard.

It will never be like it was when there was standing. That just made it more gladiatorial. But considering the dross we've had to put up with at home for three years, it is little wonder the atmosphere suffers. Forget the players. The fans need a lift.

  10. It's confirmation then that the world has indeed gone bananas. £600,000,000 in transfers in the England alone.

Then along come Real Madrid, a club bankrolled by city mafia and spend 100,000,000 euros on a footballer and even more on wages when their economy is made of blancmange and their kids have NO future.

I love football but all this is making me feel slightly queezy. It's like the last days of Rome out there. It won't end well.
