  1. The ticket office just called me about renewing my season ticket for next season, i asked about the possibility of extra tickets, the guy replied 'to be honest, its just not going to happen, its too close to the game now'.

Heard the same response today as well. Don't think the police up there would fancy more than 3,000 of us even if there is nothing riding on the game.

  2. I sit in the lower North and it is annoying how regularly it happens. It's always the same big teams that do it and nothing gets done. Man U, Liverpool and Chelsea have all come on the pitch this season. I'd give the Chelsea fans the benefit of the doubt, but the other occasions weren't worthy of a pitch invasion.

Over the past few years, we've been told to sit down in the lower North or risk being banned from games. I've seen other supporters being kicked out for ignoring stewards requests to stay seated. If nothing gets done about away fans running on, it's only a matter of time before we have some unsavoury scenes.

It's a tough one to solve as the stand design isn't brilliant. The walkways are right on the touchline and they need to be clear. Only thing can think of is to not sell the first couple of rows.

  3. Bannan hasn't even played a game recently, and yet for some reason people are still desperate to propagandise how bad they think he is.

So if Bannan is so good, why isn't he in the team then?

  4. The offers that Villa are doing at the moment on Macron gear just shows that if priced properly, we'll buy it!

Personally, the Macron training wear was massively overpriced from the start. I've got a 18 month old boy and they were charging £24 for a polo shirt for him, whereas the adult version was £30. Totally ridiculous.

I'm not sure if Macron or Villa set the prices, but would be interesting if Villa sold next seasons kit for £30 from launch. I think we'd shift more shirts, and in the long run, make more money.

  5. does anyone know if the sale thats on astonvilladirect.co.uk is also on at villa village? im going to the game this saturday and fancy getting one of the black long sleeve training polos for my holidays, they was £35 but now £21 online?

All Macron training wear is £20 or less in the shop. They've got a bit of ex-team kit as well like claret shorts, sky shorts and long sleeve training tops that are £10.

They seemed to be running low on away kits, but not sure if they are holding some stock back for match days?

  6. Quite ironic that Whelans career was finished by a nasty tackle. You would think he'd have sympathy with the Newcastle player.

Think he's got this one massively wrong. Hopefully he'll realise his mistake and keep his big gob shut.

Would LOVE to send them down on the last day. Then lets here what he has to say about Roberto "he's too good for Aston Villa" Martinez.

What I would love is; with us to be safe going into the last game, we recall Hutton (with a permanent deal already in place for him to leave) and he maims at least 5 players avoiding a foul on each, he then scores a last minute goal with his hand to send Wigan down..

We don't need Hutton to do that......Delph will do!!!

  8. The one thing your basing that view on Con is that Andi DOES fulfill his potential. He's been one of our players of the season so far and I hope that it continues. But lets play devils advocate for a minute. Next season he could fail to kick on like Albrighton. He burst on the scene and hasn't reached those heights due to loss of confidence and injury. Worse still, he could be the next Stefan Moore.

Both our views are speculating what MAY happen in the future. When it comes to a new contract, you have to look at what is happening now. The key factors are that Andi is playing well and is scoring goals. He's only been in and around the team for a short period so the offer would reflect this. Also, we are in a relegation battle and could well be in the Chmpionship next season unless things improve. If we offer Andi a bumper deal, what message would that send out to the rest of the squad when it's been well documented that we've been trying to trim the wage bill? A fair offer of 3 year £20k a week deal. He'd be a multi-millionaire in his mid 20's and if he performs, he can re-negotiate. If he doesn't want it, I'll take it!!!

  9. pay him according to what you think his value is, not with what you can get away with.

if he is as good as we think he is, and we cheapskate, we will have top teams coming in tempting him with the amount he is really worth within a couple of years.

If you give him what he is really worth now, you won't have that problem, and we'd keep him for a bit longer - maybe all his career if Villa pushes to the next level.

How long have you been supporting us for? A few names to jog your memory Barry (not Bannan, I won't get you started on him), Milner, Young, Downing. They left for bigger clubs who could offer a better chance of success. In the short term, we have no chance of competing with these teams.

Even if we made Andi our top earner, if any of the big four came calling, he would leave. That's modern football. For these reasons Paying him £20k, £30k or £40k will make no difference.

Alternatively, adopt your strategy and pay him more than he's worth. Andi thinks he's made it and stops putting the hard work in. We're left with a player on big money that we can't offload. Another Ireland, Warnock, Dunne etc

  10. if he's a 20 goal a year guy I'd want 30k. if less, the promise of renegotiation on back of achieved target.

I think we know if we eventually sell him he'll go for £20-30m.

at 21 is still learning. there is no reason why he'd want to risk a move at the end of the season whatever happens. he'll be just happy to be a starter at this age.

25-26 is the finished article. he may move on then if Villa can't match his ambitions.

£20-30m is jumping the gun a bit.

In our current position and based on the fact that Andi has been on the fringes/in the team for around 18 months £20k is a great offer. I'd imagine it would more than double his current wage.

For years we've played over the top wages for average talent. Not saying Andi is average, but he's still a prospect and isnt a first team regular yet.

  11. OK I get you now. I thought you meant he would insert a clause allowing him to leave for cheap if we get relegated.

Knowing our club im sure they wont insert that wage drop clause :(

I'm sure there's plenty of players who haven't got a wage drop clause. I bet DB9 and Ireland haven't, and they will be two of the biggest earners.

Hopefully Andi will sign a new deal. Will be nice to have some decent news for a change!

  12. Best player in our team, passion an winning mentality, captain material! Will probably be offered 20k a week to stay???

Sounds about right to me. Wouldn't imagine any of Lamberts signing being on much more than that, so would fit into our wage structure.

  13. It would be a safety net for the club. If Andi signs a new deal for say £25k per week, the clause would state that if we go down, his wages would be reduced. It's quite common at newly promoted teams and prevents us from being massively exposed if the worst happens.

If we can't continue shelling out on wages in the Premier League, there's no way we can do it in the Championship.

  14. Con just do the decent thing and button it about Bannan. Is there anyone who has supported your flimsy argument?

Bannan has scored 0 goals and made 1 assist ALL SEASON!!

Do us all a favour and give up

  15. Barcelona dominate the first half against Real Madrid 0 : 2 at the Bernabau.

Come out after half time, and they are over-run by an inspired opposition. They concede.

Then, your defensive midfielder limps off injured.

Who do you bring on as sub? You have a choice between Ineista or Busquests.

Can you PLEASE stop comparing Bannan to Barcelona players. It's embarrassing.

Bannan was not the reason we lost today but it's become more than a coincidence that when he plays, we get over-run. Even an ardent Banann supporter, can't deny we played better in the first half, when Bannan wasn't on the field.
