From one crackpot foreigner to another - WHU - Villa goals
-
Wooohooo - what a finish!
Relieved and delighted we managed to win.
Thought Petrov had an excellent game and Downing, Young and Bent were always threatening.
Collins seemed like his old self, very assured. Reo-Coker was poor in the first half but looked better in the second but had the odd moment where he lost his focus with astray passes.
-
Makoun on for Reo-Coker.
and given it 10....then either Albrighton or Gabby on for Heskey. I'd say Albrighton personally, I don't think there is much room in behind West Ham but when you run at them, they look shit.
Exactly the same as I was thinking.
-
I'm happy to see Heskey partnering Bent upfront.
Extremely strong bench as well.
Come on Villa!!!
-
Yes Stephen please stay at Newcastle, you two are a match made in heaven.
-
Although I actually agree with him about Ashley Young's habit of falling over the irony is that on this particular occasion it was a clear foul by Barton.
I thought his comments were extremely poor and not the way a manager should conduct himself, I had hoped that our manager would come to Young's defence in the press today. I mean Young might dive but as his manager I think Houllier should be supporting his player when an opposition manager takes a dig like that.
I thought Houllier came to his defence in his post match interview yesterday?
-
And only two points off 9th!
MOTM Downing yet again.
WOOOHOOO.
-
Johnson is a good player but to me he's more of a impact player in the sense that he can create chances and has moments where he's very good. He's a bit like Marc Albrighton, although Johnson is streets ahead of him at the moment.
Downing can create chances and have impact moments but to me he is the better footballer. I also think Downing can play well into his late thirties because his game isn't built on pace alone (though he is very quick), like many wingers. With time I think he'll move into a more central position where he can have an even more impact on the game itself.
So if I had to choose from the two, I would definitely choose Downing.
-
I don't believe a word footballers say but if he stays - fantastic, he's an excellent player.
Just as a general rule of thumb I think it's best to take everything footballers say with a pinch of salt.
-
Didn't see the game but without knowing how it was it seems a decent result.
Haven't gone through the whole thread but I heard that the defence was once again poor? Dunne and Collins up to their usual stuff?
Good to see Bent getting two goals as well. Saw before the game that Ash was supposed to be on the wing, what did people think of his performance?
-
There isn't even a remote chance that Mourinho will ever come here. He's currently managing one of the biggest clubs in the world and the only job he'll take in England is Man Utd or Chelsea if Abramovich ever leaves.
When has he ever mentioned that he would like to manage a club like Spurs or Everton?

The new low budget Star Wars, featured in France.
-
As he hasn't been sacked or resigned yet I'm 99% sure he will continue out the season, no matter how we do.
-
Moyes or Billy Davies
Billy Davies? Really?
I know we're in the shit but I think we can set our sights a bit higher than that!
has a superb record in the championship and has masterminded a fantastic turnaround at Forest. deserves a shot in the prem imo but certainly would be a gamble.
He's done a good job at Forest yes but as you say he would be a gamble and I don't think we can afford that given the state the club is in.
-
Break the bank and get Colye?
Just that easy, he actually would want to come we cannot force him.
**** me I hate that "" condescending smiley.
Did I ever say it was easy? Don't think there are many capable managers who would want to come here given the shit Houllier has us in.
But he would still me my first choice but the board will hopefully have done their homework if Houllier leaves/is sacked and have a shortlist of potential successors.

Break the bank and get Coyle.
-
Benitez at Villa Park?
We'll take Benitez now, sack him and bring in Hodgson and then sack him as well and bring in Kenny Dalglish!
-
Perhaps the 70% or so of voters in a Villatalk poll who wanted Houllier to stay will come on here and say that they were pleased with today's performance and result and that they have faith in Houllier.
Jesus Christ people are allowed to change their **** mind.
No one is happy with the mess we're in and the people who previously supported Houllier did so in good faith, most of them at least, and thinking that he could change things.

A woman mourns the devastation of Natori, Miyagi Prefecture, in northern Japan on March 13.
You know what? We live in a place where we can have our weekends "ruined" by a football team losing. Fantastic isn't it?
Sorry, but I just feel we need some perspective.
Sorry but that doesn't come close to how I feel - I'm absolutely devestated!
Only joking, before anyone loses it! Of course in the grand scheme of things football is nothing compared to disasters like that.
-
Why is Houllier getting the blame the players hardly covered themselves in glory did they? They all played like puss!es! Downing especially. A clueless performance.
Fans didn't help either, what a bunch of m0ngs they looked and sounded. Why were they singing for Gabby to come on? Do they not realise how shiit he is.
This isn't only about laying blame on someone, it's about not getting relegated.
We need to realise that it's getting more and more possible as each game passes by and getting a new manager in looks to be our safest bet to stay up.
-
When you've lost the fans as a manager, you're done. Never heard as much at the end at VP as today.
-
Lets hope something incredible happens during half time because I don't see us getting anything here today, we've been utter shit.
If we lose then Houllier has lost my support, we're getting dangerously close of getting relegated with only a few games left of the season.

Approximately 1.300.000 is the total number of Icelandic people to have existed, according to calculations made recently. Given that we are about 310.000 now that is really small number.

He hasn't played much for us and the games he's played in midfield for us, I seem to have missed quite a few of them.
The only game I can remember where he caught my attention was the Fiorentina game in pre-season two years ago, he was fantastic then.
Many here hold him in high regard so I guess there must be something special about him that I haven't noticed yet. I hope he stays injury free in the summer and next season because I'm excited to see him get a proper run.
