Not as bad as Dougie but close tbf. Midfield was a shambles.

It doesn't work with McGinn next to Dougie. Problem with him is, he always has to turn back onto his left foot and opponents have figured him out. We need him away from our goal. It's disjointed with John and Doug together. If the one goal hadn't gone in they'd have had a penalty for the ridiculous challenge he made.

People are talking about Dougie's performances but I personally feel that John hasn't played to his best lately.

  2. Losing Emi and Youri hurt us yesterday. We just need to hope we can get them back ASAP.

Given the start he had here Youri's gone on to be a very important player for us this season and been a great signing.

I was at the game, and I'm pretty sure Carlos wasn't wearing ice skates... His movement looks really weird on this clip.

That was him realising he couldn't head it back because his keeper was coming towards him and slipping as he engaged the breaks.

Losing Emi at half time cost us the win.

  4. It says a lot that we are disappointed with a draw against Chelsea. There was a time when we expected defeat against them - our previous manager told us we should expect it!

Chelsea are improving as a team and have young players full of energy that haven't played the amount of games our lads have. When they play Spurs local pride will be at stake. They won't want to lose to both North London clubs so hopefully they'll do us a favour in that game.

We could really do with Arsenal winning today. We need Man City to still need points when they play Spurs, and the same goes for Liverpool when they them.

Just think, if we had won all the games we went 2-0 up in and threw it away this season, we would be seriously talking about winning the league. That will be what Unai and staff will be working on for next season.

  5. My Spurs supporting mate at work thinks and hopes that Villa get 4th place this season. He reckons Spurs aren't ready for the Champions League. Personally, despite us having the points on the board, I think Spurs will get 4th. I just think that it will be tough for us to beat any of the last four teams we play because I can't help but feel our players will have Olympiacos and a possible trophy on their minds. I know they had Lille on their minds too but the next step after Olympiacos is a European final and a lot of our players don't have that on their CV. I think Spurs will get at least a further 9 points. I think we need at least 70 points and that will be difficult. I hope I am wrong!

  6. What a signing! Seemlessly fitted into the starting eleven and gets better with every game. I love how tall and athletic he is. I love his technique. I love his ability to get stuck in and, I love how he can go past someone by going to his left or right.

    What will his ceiling be?

  7. He did all bar score today. Bournemouth fans are praising him on Twitter as they reckon their CB Zabarnyi has been great all season but couldn't get near Ollie today.

He has to go to the Euros but that Villa-hating fraud of an England manager just won't give him a chance even when he goes.

The aren't many wingers that transfer their game to being a forward as good as Ollie has become.

  8. Fair play to Matty. He had a tough game, but to score the goal to take us to extra time and then score his pen, after 120 of his comeback game, was very impressive.

  9. If the owners took a look at our overall situation and decided it was ultimately move stadium in order to seriously compete or they will move on themselves - would you prefer to move or stay where we are?

Think Unai didn’t want Ollie to be so public with his comments.

I like what Ollie said. If he's banging in the goals he deserves the right to question why we can't close the game out.

The same was said about Ramsey.

I think they bought Rogers with an eye on selling Ramsey in the summer.

Brilliant with the ball usually, although not today, but it could be argued every goal was his fault today.

I love the guy, I really do. But, today, the goals were mainly his fault. As a player, he won't watch that back and be happy.

  13. There's a different Leon when he's smiling. He's clearly a player who thrives on confidence. Unai is the perfect manager for Leon, to give him that confidence.

We signed Leon along with Emi Buendia and Danny Ings. They were supposed to fill the void left by Grealish leaving. In his last season Grealish scored 6 in 26 Premier League appearances. Leon has 5 in 13 PL appearances so far this season. I think it's fair to say that when Leon plays like he is now he's looking every bit the perfect replacement.

  14. I think Unai realised he needed Diego to go toe to toe with Haaland and he's probably the only defender that competenwith him physically right now, with Ty out. Diego was fantastic tonight.

Ezri at right back made sense because we know he doesn't get dribbled past.
