  1. Is Hippo a troll?

How many points after 3 games last season?

How many points v the same opponents last season?

If you aren't a troll then can you please explain exactly what relevance that has?

You can have 9 points after 3 games and still have 9 after 38...

  2. Finally got round to watching an obscure classic called 'Goodfellas'.

You won't have heard of any of the cast but it is a fantastic film! Highly recommended for those who may not have had the pleasure.

  3.

Isn't that last years training wear the people round him are wearing? Also isn't that Lambert with his back turned?

No and no. It's also clearly this season's kit.

Looks the a Real Madrid shirt to me.

    I'm calling it, shopped.

  4. A big target man with an eye for goal, good last season.

If it is Kozak, Ayew, Adebayor, Gestede and Agbonlahor i'd be quite happy.

You could arguably pair any of those 2 together and make it work.

  5. Obviously you have to be sensible and use your head a bit when looking at the Fifa/Football Manager ratings and turning them into real life judgement...

But both put a lot of effort into research. Using it a rough guide isn't the most ridiculous thing in the world.

  6. A rough calculation based on full 5 year deals.

    Balaban cost 1m per appearance.

N'Zogbia cost 270k per appearance (so far).

Even if we only paid Bosko for the 2.5 years he was here it works out at 750k per game.

I imagine we paid him compensation when we released him.

  7.

One of the worst players to ever pull on our shirt.

Why on earth did sherwood give him so much game time last season?

I was sure it would be Gil out the door this summer and we would keep Nzogbia.

Thank god Tim has seen the light.

because CNZ has plenty of experience in relegation dog fights.

    So does Gil.

    In the premier league??

    Nope.

    Does that matter?

Hermann Hreiðarsson has loads of premier league relegation dogfight experience too. Should we have signed and played him?

Surely quality trumps "relegation dogfight experience"?

It's a crap excuse. Sherwood just preferred N'Zogbia. Luckily he seems to have realised that was the wrong decision now.

In fairness I doubt you'd want either 'in the trenches'.

N'Zogbia preferred because he is more suited to a direct game imo. A more pacey, direct player than Gil and more likely to run on to a Benteke flick on.

He's inconsistent and hasn't been good enough over they years. He did put a shift in last when Tim came in and had a some good games.

In a list of worst value for money signings in Villa's history and a cost per game basis, Bosko would be top.

I'd argue he his very consistent.

    Point well made.

  9. Re the high rate of tax in France, I imagine that the players singed from there will be on pretty reasonable wages. Even if we matched their current salaries they'd earn more in England. Add 20% on top of what ever they used to earn and they're getting a good deal, and so are we.

  10. Are people judging players on a 4 minute youtube video? Does he work hard? Does he track back? Can he pick a pass? Is he consistent? Can he use both feet?

Some one watch it again and let me know please.

    Cheers.

  11. Ability wise he's clearly good enough to be more than back up.

Attitude is questionable, as is the great big salary.

But to suggest that ability wise he's not good enough is letting the heart rule the head a bit.

  12.

Reading all these posts I'm of the opinion that nobody has a clue how much we have (or will be willing) to spend.

We will all know much more in 42 days 8hrs and 30mins <_<

We clearly have a lot of money, just some are hinting that it all won't be spent.

Agreed. I can't imagine they'll just sit on a pile of cash that Randy has his eyes on.

  13. And who'd have guessed at the club splashing out on Bent when they did?

We really don't know the ins and outs.

I am guessing that what ever money Randy has put in he'll be getting back in loan repayments.

I'm also pretty certain that the club is trying to turn a profit which isn't easy. FFP is a game changer and came in at quite a convenient time for Randy.

  14. FFS Lambert on SSN saying Liverpool will create more for CB is the bloke such a fool? We never create because of the way you played the side you muppet!!! Under Sherwood he was back scoring virtually every game

That's the problem when people appear on SSN. They have a free reign to say what they like uncontested.

Now if Mat Kendrick was able to pose a few questions, he might have said something similar...

  15. The transfer budget would never come out of Randy's back pocket anyway.

There will have been a set transfer budget agreed way back when Tim assumed that Delph and Benteke would still be here.

Now they have left there will additional funds.
