  1. Dwight was a great player and entertainer for us and too be honest I don't hold any remorse to him for what happened when he left.... But there is absolutely nothing to suggest he would be a good manager or coach

And if he wants to be one he should learn his trade in the lower leagues, not expect to walk into a top flight job.

Either that or take self promotion lessons from Tim Sherwood.

  2. This is PES. And just to clarify...

We all know that it's an Exhibition not a Friendly.

It's clearly a Dash and not a Sprint.

Obviously a Lofted Pass and not a Cross and most definitely Rosters and not Squads!

Fifa own the rights to the English dictionary I'm afraid.

  3. Official PES tweeted yesterday 'Fully updated rosters, it's Master League time'.

And now they're saying 'we are aware of missing transfers, we apologise for inconvenience and we are looking into it'.

    Lol.

    As if they didn't know...

  4. This is an insulting to any one splashing out for the game really. There are groups of members on fan forums offering to update the data for free, but Konami obviously aren't interested.

It isn't a big job is it?

In my opinion they are purposely trying to keep people playing and spending on My Club by keeping the Master League mode out of date.

  5. Didn't K Mac more or less say it would be Garde too?

Talksport reporter (for what it's worth) spoke to KMac after the game and tweeted.

'Kevin McDonald also basically said the next @avfcofficial manager would a name prominently mentioned in the press in the last few days'

    Link

  6. One thing that has changed TRO is player power.

An authoritarian back in the day could demand that his players do it his way or they were out! Essentially threatening their ability to make a living.

A Pearson style appointment coming in and ruling the roost could alienate the squad... 'who the **** is this ******?'

Players make a crap load of money these days and can engineer moves as easily as they like.

He is a rather dislikeable bloke and you need the players onside.

  7. I wonder whether the decision makers at the club have accepted relegation and now all the things they are doing are driven by next season and what we do in the championship.

Christ, it's not that bad yet is it. We've got 28 games left, not 2.

Of course the powers that be have to consider the possibility, it would be foolish not to.

But to suggest that the they've accepted relegation as a certainty and are planning as such is ludicrous.

  8. Newsnow is a completely depressing read for Villa fans atm, steer clear.

First the bombshell that Redknapp has ruled himself out followed up by news that Gus is choosing AEK despite being on the Villa short list.

    McGrath help us!

Depressing? I read that and thought it was Christmas!!!!

Oh I don't know. I'm still holding on to the hope that they form a 'super band' style management team with Dwight and Pearson.

  10. Laudrup doesn't tend to last very long. He did do a very good job of carrying on after Rogers had left though to be fair.

Swansea seem to be the model Fox is trying to emulate where manager/player departures don't completely rock the ship. New personnel seem to slot into the exsisiting structure.

  11. The Everton fans got fed up with Moyes in the end in a similar way some of us got fed up with O'Neil. Very old school.

Sorry to pick on you, but posts like this annoy me.

Everton fans got fed up of Moyes because they hit his ceiling as a manager. If you spend season after season unable to push on it gets frustrating.

What annoys me is that ceiling is so far above where we are now.

Our next manager doesn't have to be our manager for 20 years. He doesn't have to be the manager who leads us to the title.

What he needs to be is a manager who can avoid relegation this season, and establish us in the league next season. If, beyond that, he can carry on progressing us then that's fine. But we don't have to look SO long term here.

I don't disagree with a word you've said. Moyes would be my first choice.

  12. I think Garry Rowett would  be a better bet than most of the ones mentioned, certainly less of a gamble. I wouldn't be surprised if hes been sounded out already tbh.......

Has good idea of our playing squad and how we have been playing (or not) lately. He lives in the area and  has at least one villa shirt he could wear to training/ games.

I thought about Rowett when Sherwood got the boot.. Knowledgeable and speaks well, but he would be a gamble for me. If it's anything from the Championship I'd sooner go for Dyche who has at least won promotion from it.

  13. I'd say sacking 2 managers in 6 months shows a pretty high level of bumbling around.

The sacking of Lambert was proved a very good decision.

After Sherwood kept us up last season, 10 games is a fair crack of the whip.

    Hardly bumbling around...

I can't think of many other top clubs that have got rid of managers at the rate we've done.

Remi Garde will be our 5th manager in 6 seasons.

Agreed, but I think in the main the club have pulled the trigger when they've had little choice. There wasn't much messing about re the sackings bar Lambert as Stevo points out.

Is it a wider recruitment issue? I'm not sure. Lambert was the fans choice, Sherwood completed his remit in the short term.

The two before were stinkers mind.

  15. For every success you can name a failure, such is the chop and change culture  of the league.

Garde could be our Pochettino or our Pepe Mel.

Who would have thought Pardew would be such a hit at Palace?

    You really do never know.

We are crying out for a leader and a tactician, qualities that Tim sadly lacked.

  16. Houllier was a bit of a disaster for me. That Liverpool away game was horrendous, an embarrassment. I got the feeling on numerous occasions that he simply didn't give a shit about the club.

The final league position flattered us greatly along with two very good wins at the end of the season.

  17. What a great header it was.

Before the goal his first touch was atrocious. You could tell he knew he was having a poor game and that it was getting to him.

After the goal the confidence floods back and he started controlling the ball.

It doesn't help him that we Villa fans have been used to seeing Benteke lead the line for 3 years.

He will frustrate but he will score goals.

  18. Enjoyed playing this last night.

Who knew that FUT is actually quite fun with out spending a penny of real cash? Even games against the AI are enjoyable.

Lots of decent gold cards sell for 350 so it won't take long to build a squad.

  19. The game play is superb but I can't start a Master League until the teams are updated. It's shocking really.

I'm also worried that I'm spending hours changing names when some one will release an edit file the moment after I'm done...

    Any way the game play...

It's a joy to play after playing Fifa for years. Fifa online is fine but against the AI on World Class it's a joyless experience since the introduction of tactical defending. Having to be patient and keep your teams shape to regain possession. Watching teams of all shapes and sizes keep the ball for fun. Once you do get the ball it's a case of possession football like Paul Lambert's Villa after his trip to watch Bayern train. Side to side going no where, the opposition blocking every through ball and shot. On professional is better but you start winning 8-0 every game.

On PES16 you can press and close down. Win the ball in midfield and launch a one through ball counter attack. It's a beautiful thing.

  20. I am loving this game so far. It creates moments that seem quite unique.

For example it is nightfall, and I begin sneaking around the first enemy base you really have to deal with. Taking out unsuspecting guards one by one and dragging them some where out of sight.

I sneak into a room where one guy is sleeping, I'd previously marked him so I knew he was there.

What I didn't count on was that he was with a mate who was very much awake. I gave a loud 'OH ****!!!!', shat myself momentarily and then quickly took him out slamming him over my shoulder and managed not to wake up the other guy.

The lighting and the music adds to the genuine tension you feel when sneaking around knowing there's probably a word removed lurking that you haven't tagged yet about to blow your plans to shite. It's incredibly immersive.
