You know we was robbed when every neutral and a lot of Manure fans say it should of been Red as is on the BBC 606 debate.
Just because it was a red doesnt mean we were robbed. We wouldn't necessarily have gone on to win and its often more difficult to play again 10 men, as we found out as gainst them at Villa Park in the league a few weeks back.
It was too easy for United, we very rarely looked threatening.
Yes but it was a central defender. We saw Blackburn collapse at VP when Samba was sent off and Manure would've had to take a midfielder off to bring on another defender so they'd have lost the midfield dominance.
And they'd have needed to score with 10 men so played right into our hands.
-
Way I see it is central midfield was where United won the game.
Vidic sent off and Manure to get Brown/Neville on would've had to sacrifice one of those central midfielders so their domination wouldn't have happened.
I know you can say Manure played very well at VP with 10 men but they lost a wide player not a central defender so a bit of a difference. And it was 1-1 at that stage whereas us 1-0 up and them down to 10 men as it should've been so they would be chasing a goal and leaving gaps at the back for us to exploit. I would've settled for that.
-
Today showed more than ever we need a clinical striker and a very good central midfielder to be a trophy winning and top 4 team.
I have faith MON will find them in the summer, it may be misguided but we'll see.
-
Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill: "I think it would be universally accepted they should be down to 10 men. There's no other decision to make. It's not a good decision by an otherwise fine referee, it's poor and obviously at Wembley we score the penalty, they are down to 10 men for virtually the whole game. It's a major point in the game."
Eh, we can't beat them when they're down to 10 men anyways, moot point.
I would say a central defender rather than an enigmatic winger is a worse player to lose for a red card as Manure would've had to take off a midfielder to bring on Neville or Brown.
Manure deserved to win 11 v 11 but Dowd bottled that, simple as due to it being so early in the game.

There's a harvester by the ground but that tends to be home fans dominated, same for Hanley really (the actual City centre) and Stoke which is close to the train station.
If you're coming up by car I'd say a better bet would be to stop off in Stone or Newcastle Under Lyme as some decent boozers and you're a bit further out.
-
I think Delph will prove to be an upgrade on NRC who wasn't actually a defensive midfielder when we signed him.
-
Delph, Milner and Petrov in a midfield trio would work well I think, we saw it for a bit against Manure.

Continual fouling? Retaliation? Sounds like a nice bloke! You defend him by saying he's defending himself, he's not the only player that gets kicked. How much did you pay for him? £15 million? Money well spent that. He didnt have to go in to injure the Greek but he did and now look at him. Hope he enjoys his spell on the sidelines, he won't be missed!
I actually said he retaliates because he doesnt get protection from referees ACTUALLY! You want him to just stand and take it with the possibility of getting injured? AND we have only paid £6million for him currently, but yes, he has been worth every penny of the £15million we will pay because like him or not, he is a quality player. He will be missed....maybe not by judgemental people like you but he will be by us.
How many players has he actually injured with his horrible dirty play? Anyone been out for a sustained period? even a few weeks? I'll save you looking, the answer is no. And don't be using the Greek, he got himself into trouble with his stupid tackle and ended up on the recieving end of a bad challenge himself cos of it.
He's had a good six weeks but overall you've still beaten Manure and Chelsea in his absence.
And I'd say that assualt on a Hull player last season was pretty bad.
-
Weren't Everton supposed to fall apart once the great Fellani got injured? They've beaten Chelsea and Manure since he got injured.
Overrated.
-
I think Palace's chance was in the first game and they've had two poor league results since.
We beat Donny 3-1 last season with the likes of the Fonz, Sidwell and Salifou starting so don't see why we can't do it again.
Have a strong bench just in case we're struggling.
-
Don't get that one Trent?
-
We can win home games against Wolves, Sunderland, Blackburn and one of SHA/Everton imo.
We can win away to Hull, Pompey and two out of Wigan, Bolton and Stoke imo.
That would give us 24 points btw.
-
Travelling back from Wigan perhaps......?
Nah.
-
Everton have 38 points.
I can see us finishing on 67 or 68 points so for Everton to finish above us, they'll have to win 10 of their last 12 games. Tall order even in the form they're in.
Interestingly they still have to play us, Man. City and Spurs in the run in so they'll certainly have a say in who makes 4th.
-
I think that was as Pompey still owed money to Spurs for various other deals. As they were unhappy Begovic turned down Spurs to go to Stoke.
-
I wonder if Glaston has ever had a girlfriend/boyfriend/beer? Mind you, who'd have the time between dispensing such wisdom on various forums and bashing one out to pictures of Aaron Lennon?
**** that, does he ever go to any games?!
Actually I can see them winning at Bolton and so he'll be back on sunday night proclaiming that they've given up on 4th to concentrate on winning the FA cup seeing as they're incapable of competiting in two competitions at once.
-
I will go for:
Guzan
Beye
Cuellar
Collins
L. Young
Sidwell
Delph
Milner
Fonz
Carew
Young
Subs
Gabby, Downing, Davies, Dunne, Salifou, Friedel, Albrighton if he's fit.
Rest Downing as he's fcuked, keep Gabby and Dunney fresh aswell.
Palace will be tricky, I wouldn't be surprise if we need a replay to get through this tbh like Donny last season which will be the last thing we need.
-
BTW at various stoppages in the game tonight during the second half I flicked over to the spurs stream and no word of a lie, evertime I checked a long ball was being pumped up to Crouch.
-
We need to rest ALOT of players for Palace AND Burnley and come with a fresh team for the rest of the season.
I thought Delph played well first half so would be happy to see that team again start in the next league game.
Manure were outstanding with 10 men, credit to them.
We seemed happy with a point from the moment of the own goal really. Shame as I thought we played well first 20 minutes. Carlos MOTM. Outstanding form again.
Still the next 6 weeks will decide our league season, we need to get our home form going again. Results went for us tonight so that's good.
-
How's that away form going Glaston?
8)
-
Happy with that team.
Hopefully it will be Young in a free role supporting Gabby and Milner and Downing playing on their natural wings, Stan holding and Delph keeping our wide players in the game by giving them the ball.
Kept it 0-0 for 70 mins and then throw Carew on to win the game if he can be arsed of course.
-
The key point here is have Spurs won the league on colour tv? :winkold:
In fairness to Glaston, he has a point on Lennon. Much improved over the last 18 months and Spurs miss him badly.
-
West Ham have finished above Spurs quite a few times in the last 10 years.
-
Be honest Glaston, you must have slagged off Redknapp when he was West Ham manager?
Not really bothered about his financial affairs really, Spurs are loaded with cash so it's not as if he's going to leave Spurs in a financial mess.

WTF Vidic is on about he? He was between Gabby and the goal? Gabby was getting past him before he fouled and tugged him down.
