  1. Did his job - played more than anyone (including Lambert etc.) thought he would due to Kozak's unfortunate injury. Cheers - adios.

He was signed after kozak got injured.

  2. If the season starts and we aren't taken over surely that then puts off potential buyers. Will new owners want to purchase a team that could well be relegated and not have the chance to properly improve the squad to prevent it?

  3. As long as we have people who know a shit load more about football, and running a Premier League club, than Faulkner and Lerner i'll be happy. We all would love to be like Man City but I just want to see good football and maybe once in a while challenge for a cup. Not play hoofball and consistently get battered by League One teams.

    This.

Lerner is awful!! We don't need mega bucks to be a decent team again.

  4. Ellison is better than nothing but I'm hoping it ain't him, he's 70 and people forget most of his money is tied up in charity's and lets face it a few billion in the world of football ain't a great deal if you want to play with the big boys

The 5th richest man in the world can't play with the big boys?

    No. Bill Gates or bust.

That's what it seems. If you can't be happy with the 5th richest man in the world I'm pretty sure the guy who ends up buying us is going to be a let down.

  6. How many people on here play golf then? I'm a 14 handicapper and play at Stourbridge Golf Club. Don't be shy

I started last summer and usually get just over 100. My aim for this year is to consistently get under 100 but I'm struggling so far. Never played a sport that frustrates me and gives me enjoyment in equal measure.

  7. Do you have a full comprehensive list of expected profit/losses for the current financial year!? How do you know whether some of the teams who have made more TV money haven't made less than us in other areas and/or have greater expenses in relation to their income!?

What other teams do with their money has nothing to do with Lerner. The fact is though that clubs have caught and overtaken us on terms of money coming in. Once again a low league finish has played a part in this.

Besides, it's almost a pointless debate as we're being sold. The projected operating profit for this year looks positive. We're in an excellent position to kick on under a new owner. Heck...if the new bloke is very generous and willing to invest significant amounts, or is a super filthy rich Mansour type, then what on earth will compensation paid out for old managers got to do with anything!? How has he done long term damage when any perceived damage by hysterical types can be undone by a new owner!?

If we get that owner then great but at the moment we don't know what owner we will have.

I don't understand why you absolutely destroy Lambert but jump to the defence of Lerner.

Since Lerner's leaving, I don't see the point in beating him any more. When fans believed it was in the best interest of the club, I could disagree with them, but understand that they thought they were doing what was best and right for the club. Now it just sounds petty and spiteful to me. (Just a personal opinion, not ITK :) )

People still slag off Doug, McLeish, MON, Heskey etc.. And they've left the club.

  8. So in terms of the new TV deal we got the 14th highest amount.

For the last few years we continue to let smaller clubs catch and overtake us in terms of bringing money in. And somehow the owner is thanked for it.

He's continued to make us weaker and weaker and if we truly are going to stick to FFP regulations he's done a good job of making sure we can't be a competitive team in the future.

Truly has done some long term

    damage to this club.

Yeah that's 100% correct mate. It's as simple as that. What other amazing financial insights have you got because you really know your stuff?

What's confusing you? The money wasted on managerial compensation? The money we paid for blues for Alex McLeish? The money we're missing out on due to consecutive low finishes? Let me know and I'll expand for you.

  9. Fans want Lerner to sell.

Lerner announces he's actively trying to sell us.

    Fans criticise Lerner.

    VT.

    Fans wanted houllier gone.

    Lerner sacks houllier

    Replaces with mcleish

    Aston Villa under Randy Lerner.

thank you for this summary of a small part of Randy's ownership.

What it has to do with my post is beyond me. But it was nice of you to keep up appearances.

That was a small part. I'm sure you know the other mistakes made after mistakes.

The point is you once again mock people for not being thrilled yet pretty much the entire Lerner era has showed that he gets things wrong a lot more than right.

  10. Interesting to hear Tony pulis saying managers should be given 3 years as the third year is the one where progression should be seen.

Don't all managers think all managers should be given a long time?

We should have given McLeish 2 more years if we were taking the advice of Pullis.

  13. And the getting upset over absolutely nothing at all continues.....

Not sure what you mean by continues. The last 4 years have clearly been worthy of getting annoyed over.

I think its a big indicator to be fair, I can imagine us going for a bunch of freebies and loans should this deal not go through this summer. Very dangerous game Randy is playing IMO.

He's played a very dangerous game for the last few years. And for some reason he's thanked for it.

  14. People have slagged Lerner off far too much for, essentially, putting his hand in his pocket to the tune of £100m+ - but because that hasn't happened recently and Villa are struggling, it's his fault.

You've ignored the majority of his 8 years here if you think that's the only reason people aren't happy with Lerner.

In regards a new owner obviously ridiculous wealth and willing to spend it would be great. However after Lerner I'll be happy with someone who invests a decent amount and runs the club properly.

Lerner has **** up allowing other teams to catch and overtake us in terms of revenue coming into clubs, but I'd be confident a good owner could rectify that with a club like ours.

Some sensible long term investment, a good manager and the right plan will see us as a top 7/8 team. Then if we hit lucky with a benteke or a few from the youth team we can invest a bit more or challenge hire up.

The bottom line is after the last 4 years I'm confident most new owners can do better.

  15. So basically it all looks like another botched effort by Lerner. Up for sale, no buyer, no new contracts, no transfer funds and we are stuck with Lambert.....great.

Oh and Albrighton can walk as his contract will be up at the end of next month.

Have I missed something? Where have you deduced that from?

Not as far as I know, just people jumping to conclusions and automatically assuming the worst as usual.

I read similar when McLeish was first rumoured, when people were concerned the last few January windows and when people thought the last 2 years would be a struggle. And guess what happened?

  16. I really hope something can be done but the amount of times Lerner has **** up at the browns and here doesn't fill me with hope.

    How many times was that?

Couldn't give you an exact figure but I hear he made similar mistakes in hiring the wrong people and browns fans didn't like him for a reason.
