Just out of interest for those that watch regularly, are we better now the coach left for Spain ?

We've got a new Spaniard in charge who is far less entertaining on the touchline than Idiakez was.

In answer to your question, it is really difficult to tell to be honest based on the ever changing team. The 11 put out on Tuesday was the best version of the u21s that I have seen this season. When you take into account that the entire back 5 was different to games earlier in the season, similarly the front 4.

Of the current loanees, probably only Chrisene and Feeney from an Academy perspective in my opinion.

Goalkeepers are really difficult to tell, Sinisalo may have a chance.

Not a massive O'Reilly fan personally, not at Premier League level anyway.

Never seen this kid before. But i was amazed . Thought he was a box to b0x but he is almost a winger.  What an amazing touch he has. He floats down the pitch . Looks elite to me. The way he drives onto the ball. Its kind of like watching Carney way back when. Ridiculously talented. And they obviously rate him as he is playing at u21s in his first season

He has played on the left in the last few, but he is much better off the front in the role Kellyman played last night. He is absolutely going to play at the top level, just a matter of time.

Triston Rowe deserves mention, I thought he was excellent again last night, is very good both defensively and going forward, his driving runs from deep are brilliant, and as Daley rhapsodizes, he usually finds a teammate at the end of them, I don't think I've seen him have a poor or even just a quiet game this season, of course he will make the occasional mistake in games, but overall he's seemingly always very good, based on what I've seen probably our most consistent performer at U21 level

......and he loves a bottle of blackcurrant cordial.

  5. Watched him closely in the warm up this evening. All I can say is that we've got loads of 'keepers so another doesn't matter as long as it keeps his old man happy.

  6. Blackburn hit the bar twice and the post once, they also had numerous chances in and around the box that they really should have scored. That said, Villa were worthy winners and as happens quite often at this level the game gets very stretched and both teams give up lots of chances.

Kellyman outstanding despite being kicked to pieces. He was on the half turn driving at the defence every time, absolutely ready for the 1st team. Jimoh classy, ran out of steam second half but he and Kellyman were taking the piss in the 1st half.

Bogarde at the back a bit too strong and a bit too wise, had a cigar on most of the evening, classy.

Special mention to Todd Alcock who goes about his work every week and rarely puts a foot wrong, not easy as a centre mid. Allowed Borland (best I've seen him play) and Kellyman to do their thing, rarely gives the ball away and gets through some yards. He won't make it at Villa, but would be great to see him looking after the ball down the leagues in future.

  7. As with the majority of Premier League games these days, the first goal is so important. They'll give it a go, be physical and try to take the game as deep as they can for a late onslaught.

The game at VP was bizarre and they were absolutely terrified, up to Villa to start strong and assert themselves.

Keep seeing little clip previews of the new Scouse sitcom G'Wed and every one of them is absolute shite. It annoys me how bad it is.

I've just watched an episode.....Wow.....Whilst a middle aged man is probably not the target audience that is some absolute rubbish. Hilarious reading the Scousers on twitter and Facebook singing it's praises, mainly because only 'they' get it so gives them a chance to marginalise themselves as usual.

Luke turned out better than stefan but stefan was moore talented apparently.

Luke was always the more talented and highly regarded by the club, which is why he made the bench at 16. Stefan was always a prospect and should have made more of his career, particularly after the goal on his Premier League debut.

See them both regularly at the u21s watching Kobei.

The foul by Odegaard on Aaron Ramsey was horrific. Studs up, tackle from behind, didn't get the ball,  and has resulted in the player now probably getting injured for a month or more. Not even given as a foul.

Combined with the dubious penalty calls across multiple games today just shows the state of refereeing in the league is appalling.

VAR is not making it any better either. Just atrocious.

Sounds more like 9 or 10 months.

I remember one game, may have been against Blues where he was an absolute monster and won everything in the air.

He also wrestled several of their players who were trying to push him over the halfway line so they could kick off whilst the rest of our team were celebrating a goal in the corner of the pitch.

  12. What if as a collective all Villa fans shared the view that Gerrard was the brains behind the current form, that Emery is merely standing on the shoulders of that giant. The players let Stevie down and we'd have won the League by Christmas if it weren't for our short sighted owners sacking him just as the project came together.

Seems to be joining a long list of players who have played for both clubs in the last 25-30 odd years- Ugo, Southgate, Boateng, Alan Wright, Joe Bennett, Traore, Albert, Rudy, and probably more that I have forgotten about.

Luke Young, Neil Taylor, Stewart Downing, Paul Merson, Yannick Bolasie, Cameron Archer, Aaron Ramsey, Finn Azaz, Brad Guzan, Ritchie De Laet, Shay Given, Isaiah Osbourne, Benito Carbone, Andy Townsend, Neil Cox.
