Us, win a penalty? Utter madness.
At least MOTD spoke almost entirely about our performance rather than Arsenal's.
Yes, it was a good analysis, particularly about the tactic of keeping Watkins, Diaby, Zaniolo and Rogers in attacking positions while Arsenal were attacking.

That's an insult to hippos!
To be fair, it’s only an insult to herniated ones.

I reckon even @TRO would approve of that!
Excellent performances all over the pitch and perfect game management by Unai.
It was particularly pleasing that we came out for the second half very very focused and took control of the game - none of that 45-60 minute wobble nonsense today!
Every player was MOTM today but the bedrock of our success was the defending in the first half and Carlos was central to that so my vote goes to him.
Now… what are the prospects of us catching up with Arsenal and Liverpool?

These Arsenal fans are a whiny shouty lot aren’t they. Don’t they enjoy watching their team?

I tune into this thread and Zaniolo is getting shredded wtf. He's been out best player along with Carlos
The irrational dislike of Zaniolo on this board never ceases to amaze me. He is clearly improving and having a really good match today

Funny, before the match I was mentally prepared for us to be outplayed and lose the match. But we are competing so well now that I will be really pissed off if Arsenal win this.

On target is between the bar/posts, not hitting them or going over/wide.
So what if the ball had curled back into the net, as it might well have done? Would we have scored from a shoot that wasn’t on target?

Does Arteta ever stop complaining?
He’s been crying on the sideline every time we have a throw in.
He also needs a refresher course on where the technical area boundary is. A couple of times I thought he was going to tackle Zaniolo himself.

Very exciting game so far.
A bit too exciting for me!
So sorry that Watkins chance didn’t go in!
Zaniolo and Rogers doing good. Carlos good in defence. Martinez = king of the world.

I remember one of the Leicester team (or was it Ranieri) saying similar… they just kept going one game at the time, and didn’t count anything for granted, ticked off no relegation at 40 points, then each position who couldn’t catch them… until the end when they were champions.
Sometimes I’m not sure some people posting here have even passed that stage.

Sorry… based on NZ
I think we should be apologising to you for playing at such antisocial hours for New Zealanders.

Try thinking instead of how good out felt while each of the 97 goals we have scored so far this season went into the opposition net.

We will struggle to get 9 more points imo
Agree. It will be hard to keep our points tally that low.

What if we're so bad the league starts taking points of us.
Unai leaves, we sell all our players and the corpse of Doug does a weekend at Bernie's and buys the club back.
Worse, we get bought up by SHA’s owners who merge the two clubs into one.

Newcastle are really unlucky not to be about 5 or 6 up.

He is learning so quickly and obviously benefiting massively from having Emery as coach.
One of they real bargains of the last transfer window.
