  1. Ancelotti to be confirmed as new manager on/by Wednsday 8th June !

Certain European betting markets have suspended betting this afternoon.

This from a source within the betting industry !

You know you've just opened the floodgates to another 20 pages of speculation today!!

    Where have you heard this?

Too right what's the story Gadzooks?

I am just reporting what I've been told from a someone I know who works at a top european betting agency ! They have been told to suspend betting on Ancelotti as Villa manager until further notice .. I perhaps in hindsight shouldn't have posted & tried to change the message ... I'm not here to get slagged off for sharing what I hear ! Oh well .......

I wouldn't trust those sort of 'leaks'. They usually have an ulterior motive to them.

  2. Whilst I was in the bath, I looked down at my leg and to my astonishment, saw that an image of either the Virgin Mary or Kate Middleton had formed on my leg! Genuine...this happened at random!

  4. Hey man!

My girl finished with me about 2 months ago and I felt the same. I think it was the first time I've ever felt that cliched 'broken heart'.

It's a weird feeling and it made me do odd things like type in the word 'broken heart' into google. But it defintely helps to know that millions of people are feeling the same thing all around the world at the same time. This goes to show that life, relationships and emotions are always in a state of transition and nothing has any real solidity.

This is a good thing because once you realise how all of your focus is revolving around one thing - her - and all your energy is taken up by negative emotions - such as desire and envy, once you realise this and realise the enormity of the world and everything your missing outside of your focus, you can let your current negative state of mind dissolve because it has no permenance and is all simply a figment of your imagination.

Just let all the negativity go then get out into the world because life is way to short to spend weeks brooding. You may find yourself brooding for a month and that month could have been the month you took a jaunt to Spain and met a lovely little spanish senorita, or maybe a little jaunt over to morrocco to encounter a beautiful african princess. Maybe just a little meditation on the peaceful slopes of Nepal!

The world's your oyster my friend so don't spend any more time caught up in that same thought and enjoy life while you have it. Just keep this old Lebanese proverb in mind:

The one who is not dead still has a chance.

  6. How long has ianrobo1 been gone now?

It's quite a while, but I see he still tops the "number of posts" chart with 48,565. Quite an achievement.

BOF coming up on the rails with 44,716 though.

Robo has (surprisingly) been banned for 20 months! His last post was in March 2009.

20 months? What did he get banned for?

No one can ever truely get banned. He probably still walks amoungst us, but in a different guise.

  7. get to poundland everyone!!!!! smiths variety - 3 scampi fries and 3 bacon fries for...a pound!

Just came back with 4 packs!

...not just, would be weird midnight shopping at poundland.

  8. If he's gonna play him against Stoke, it has got to be in the hole with two sitting midfielders. Please, please, please! Rest DJ or Albrighton.

I would not risk DJ against Stoke. They will just try and bully us, and im not sure he has the bottle for a fight, and young Mark does.

    Who the smeg is DJ?!

  9. I actually think everyone is correct.

I am very happy to agree that both can be correct. Without the apostrophe it's a statement - the bubbles burst as a plural noun is alongside the verb 'to burst' (they burst). With the apostrophe - the bubble's burst - you get that the bubbles have burst and the apostrophe serves to show that there is a contraction omitting the have, although that's more informal than grammatical canon!

Can you imagine the same level of debate taking place on a Small Heath web site?

    8) :winkold:

  10. Unless I've missed a pun, it should not have an apostrophe. Bubbles were burst. There's no contraction or possessive.

My take on it too Si. We have burst many bubbles, hence bubbles burst is correct.

If we had only burst one bubble, then it would have been bubble's burst.

    Is this not right? :?

I would have thought that the article would be referring to a single situation of the bubble bursting (singular, but applied metaphorically as a generalisation) hence saying 'bubble's burst!' as an abbrieviated colloquial way for saying 'the bubble has burst!'?

To have it as a plural sounds strange as a colloquial abbrieviation alluding to many bubbles that have burst in one go, as if you were to say something like: 'Oh, the bubbles burst, ay?!' - thinking about all the bubbles that have burst in the past, or maybe: 'Look at all the bubbles that have now burst!'

You surely would have to add something like 'Many' at the front for it to sit right, if this were the case?

    'Many Bubbles Burst!'
