  1. Well not a bad window, disappointed we never got that striker, before anyone says the 2 we bought are work in progress and cant be expected to hit the ground running! Going to be a lot of pressure on them to deliver now! We have strengthened the squad in other areas tho bringing in some good experience in Richards and Lescott.

  2. On SSN this morning they said they had heard that Berbatov was in Birmingham and asked if he was about to join the Villa.

I guess the feeling all along was that he was the other option should the Adebayor deal fall through. Not very inspiring if true. You would have to ask how he could possibly keep up with our attackers with his obvious lack of pace.

May be nothing more in it than SSN trying to garner some interest from Villa fans today. Let's see.

Well Gabby has the pace to keep up but he cant finish. Berbatov would bring experience but i agree its just to drum up interest with fans on deadline day.
  3. I'm disappointed that we didn't take advantage of today's fire sale at Old Trafford.

    and buy who?

    Buy Wilson and Loan Valdes

I would snap their hands off for Valdes! But Valdes will probably end up somewhere like Watford, we have the oxygen theif N'zogbia taking a huge chunk of wages (which we could pay towards Valdes) for doing absolutely nothing!

  4. Imagine if we hadn't sold Benteke and Delph. We would have bought Crespo and Bunn and that's about it.

Doubt it. Obviously we wouldn't have spent as much as we did but I still think we'd have spent a fair amount.
Net spend has decreased for the last few years, while premier league money rises. Lerner would have given Tim about £10 million tops!
  5. He is going to be one of the signing of the season, lets not kid ourselves tho he is here to put himself in the shop window for a big club. But hopefully we can keep hold of him for a couple of seasons before the big clubs come in for him.

  6. Kozak going must mean someone is lined up. Adebayor most likely

If Kozak goes and we dont bring an experienced striker in like Adebayor we are in for a hard slog of a season. The team is very much work in progress, some real potential there, but thats all it is at the moment, potential! We have picked up some experience in defence with Richards ( hopefully Lescott too!)midfield looks fine too. But up front our experienced striker is the one and only Gabby....
  7. We always seem to get the bum deal in punditry! Just watching sky match choice for the highlights and who can i hear? Trevor fudging Francis!!

Fudge is my replacement for the F word as my 2 and a half year old son has super hearing lol!!

  8. Well just hope we are bringing in a replacement because our hopes rest on Gabby ( who cant hit a cow's backside from 3 yards) then we are in trouble. Would be unfair to pin our hopes on Guetede and Ayew who are both young. I would have liked to have seen Kozak given a chance he scored a couple in pre season. Good luck Kozak.

  9. Well hopefull last night was his last start for villa! He offers nothing special, we have plenty of players with pace. He is a striker and is paid to score goals ... which he does a poor job of doing!

  10. Well Lerner has untill the end of the transfer window to show us how much of a custodian he is!

Wage bill drastically cut, dead wood mostly been shifted. 2 high profile players gone, PL money on the up. There should be plenty to spend and if he decides that he wants to play scrooge then he is an idiot!

But nobody knows whats going to happen its all hearsay.

  11. Well it will come back and bite him big time if he decides to be scrooge! He wont get anywhere near 150 million for us in the Championship so its better to spend a bit now to make sure we keep our premiership status!

The wage bill is coming down, deadwood is been shifted and replaced with some good potential. So Lerner you have a choice, spend that bit extra and make sure we maintain our status making us more of a prospect. Or just sit on your hands and flush your investment down the toilet!

  12. Can't see many more coming in tbh. Possibly adebayor to fill a void by benteke but just can't see Lerner spending much more.

Once Benteke leaves, Lerner won't have spent a penny.
Well Lerner can expect to see his valuation for the club drop because we will be in the Championship next season, we need someone to replace Benteke's goals. Without his goals we would already be in the Championship.

    Would be suicide from Lerner.

  13. “I think he is going to do great,” said Lambert.

“Christian phoned me yesterday and I had a good chat with him. I am delighted for him, he has got a move to a really big, big club.....

Asked what he said to Benteke on the phone, Lambert added: “I just said to go and enjoy it.

“That he will love the club and the supporters and I think he will get loads of chances.”

    JUDAS

There supporters are a bunch of words removed! I was speaking to one at work today and i wanted to punch him! Saying Benteke is overrated and not worth the money, also that they should be going after world class strikers not B & M bargin basement strikers!! Benteke deserves better then Liverpoo!
  14. Quotes from Redknapp..

"With both Christian Benteke and Fabian Delph gone Tim Sherwood has a lot of money to spend but it’s fair to say he’s got a hard job.

Will he go and raid his old club Spurs? I think he might, he could go for players like Andros Townsend and Adebayor. I know he likes Tom Carroll, he’s a good young player and Tim is a fan of his.

This is the first chance Tim’s had to get his own side, before he’s always inherited someone else’s mid-season. It’s a good challenge for him and he’ll enjoy it. He’ll clear the decks and try and get a side he likes on that Villa Park pitch.

However, it won’ be an easy season for him. I think he’ll do well but they’ve lost their best players, losing Delph was a big blow and Tim will know he’s got a tough season ahead with a relegation battle more than likely, mid-table security will be a job well done."

I stopped reading after the words Harry Redknapp.

  15. Knowing our luck we would shell out 15 million on him then he would get clattered in his 1st game and that would be his season over! Big risk and i dont think it is worth 15 million, maybe 7 and bonuses taking the transfer up to 12 miliion if he stays injury free etc

  16. Well what other really serious options do we have? We will be in desperate need for a striker to replace Benteke, cant rely on Kozak or Gabby to bang in 20+ goals!

I would take him on a loan or a short term contract. Bring him in and someone lesser known but with potential and it could work.

We know he can score goals in the premier league when he is on his A game. We could sign some wonder kid who scored 40 goals in a European league but come here and struggle in his 1st season, we need an experienced head.
