Name me the managers in this 'calibre thats out there'.
Rafa Benitez
His record is good but with the players he had and the money he spent I wouldnt say remarkable. He's an adopted bin dipper and I dont want anymore.

Martinez would be a totally underwhelming appointment if it's him, given the calibre of manager that's available out there at the moment.
Is he the man to get us into the Champions League? Of course not.
He's a man who will agree to work with a limited budget. Martinez would just about sum up our limited ambition as a club, and we will lose our best players (again). The board had the chance to appoint a manager who could have created a real buzz of optimism around the whiole place and perhaps persuaded the better players that their future lay at VP.
Dperessing if it's true.
Name me the managers in this 'calibre thats out there'. Lets take Ancelotti as an example, we asked him and he said no. What more can they do?
There isn't a manager on the planet that would have stopped Young going to Man U.
-
Plus, he might bring N'Zogbia with him!
and James McCarthy
-
I still think its Carlo, which is why im going to go bang another £10 on him while his odds are over 50/1!
I'm having a bit of this. Things aren't adding up. Something afoot???
-
Tim Abraham - say it aint so Joe (Rafa)
-
How can you form an opinion about somebody via webcam???
If true, then im shocked.
If I told you the Moon is made of cheese would you be shocked?

Coyle is a likeable guy and has done well enough so far in his managerial career - but he has little experience yet dealing with the egos of bigger name players,
I wouldnt worry about that, he doesnt suffer fools.
-
...Big fat Owens claret and blue army!
Has he put a bit of weight on recently?
-
There is money for Coyle.

Anyone know if Lerner is in Brum or London today ?
Neither, he's in Bradford on Avon today.
-
ive it a moment's thought and ask yourself - why the hell should Liverpool have won the league under Rafa? He was up against free-spending Chelsea and an established Manc side capable of adorning their already strong squad with expensive additions.
Why do we have to talk/read about the **** bindippers on here???
-
Given the long list of potential manager's that are available to approach (more than 10 reasonable ones have been posted on the thread), I would be absolutely dismayed if the board decide to approach McClaren.
Just because they're mentioned here doesnt make them available...you do know that?

What was the 3am American news?
special report on how gullible a load of villa fans were
It was about NottingVilla having flame retardant body armour made for himself.
Who do you think we'll end up with Maz.
-
Coyle, Lambert, Poyet would jump at the chance to manage Aston Villa and all are gettable.
Lambert has committed to Norwich, Coyle may jump and Poyet would be a huge gamble. I would definitely talk with Rijkaard if he wants the job but the list isnt great is it?
-
Owen Coyle vying for favourite with host of bookmakers. Martinez shortening as well. I didnt think Coyle would move again so soon but I'm not so sure now.
-
I think McClaren could do a good job out of what is turning out to be a poor choice list. McClaren is a players man and would have them onside from the start and has good sense of humour (see Dutch radio interview). The motivation for the man to succeed in the wake of the 'brolly' is huge, however if the consensus is so overwhelmingly against then it would be folly to appoint him.
Lerner will have to take a shot gun approach now and ask to speak to Moyes, Coyle and Martinez, with the hope of getting one of them. I take it that van Gaal and Rijkaard aren't on the radar.

Interesting comments from Brad Friedel on TalkSport this morning. Basically said the following;
Villa have great fanbase but they do make their opinions clear and would be very difficult for any manager (ie. McLaren) to function if the crowd is against him right from the start.
Saw plenty enough of that last season sadly. But being massively miserable words removed seems to be a badge of pride for some
Its the nature of the beast these days and Villa fans aren't the only ones by a long way. Personally I dont bother with 'you dont know what you're doing' but at the prices they charge fans feel within their rights to voice an opinion.
-
If Rijkaard wants it let him have the job. The list of availables is getting a bit thin now.
-
Where is Randy ? - Apparently he hasn't been the uk for a while........that means the new manager choice is down to PF .....and that could be why Mclaren is such short odds ?
What have you got against Paul Faulkner? Or is this just the usual you dont know what your talking about bollocks?
-
Right, off on my lunch break now to try and track down Ancelotti somewhere in B'ham.
Try Newhall Street.
-
I doubt it's him then
Why?
because if it was him, then i would assume that he would have posted on VT with that information, like he has gone many many times in the past.
MM has resigned from posting on VT.
Someone could ask Ianrobo if its him.

Where did MM post this? I'd be wary of anyone trying to act as MM if it isnt on VT
On ianrobo's blog. Dont know if its Grant or not.

I`ve Still got a sneaky feeling about van gaal.
