  1. Something doesn't add up about those tweets:

Randy cancels interview with Mclaren due to fan backlash, yet is willing to go with Mcleish?

I think most Villa fans would take even Mclaren over Mcleish all day long...

Without a doubt. If Moyes doesnt come off then they have to go for a continental with no prem experience. Poyet is a long shot but I dont see it, cheap though.

Flores, Rijkaard, Klinsmann and you may as well pitch van Gaal just to see how many languages he can say **** off in.

  2. Fair enough... I'm sure it is far more complex than any of us would even begin to think.

As long as we don't end up with Mcleish I am happy.

Without a doubt Lion. Randy puts constrarint on himself by playing with a straight bat. I'm with you on McCleish

  3. plus look at the facts. apart from martinez every manager that the press reported on villa deined. and the only time they released a statement is because whelan opened his fat gob. there are agreements that lerner sets up that the parties cannot speak to the press or the deal is off. this makes sense because we only knew about houlier and bent when the deal was more or less done.

villa didnt mind whelan speaking up because martinez said no last week and whelan just took the advantage of a big pr stunt and it worked !! but as the deal was a non goer since last week he had nothing to loose.

the only correct information will come from ITK's and so far the reliable ITKs have said it isnt hughes, benitez, martiniez said no. and moyes is coming.

    watch this space

Using this logic, don't you think that if Everton wanted to keep Moyes they would just spout out to the press?

You have to take each one on their own merits. You dont know what get out clauses are in Moyes contract. Kenwright may need the compensation money. There are lots of variables and I wouldnt dismiss anything at the moment. Villa_insider has been on the money in the past.

  4. There was a **** idiot on the Talksport phone in yesterday saying Villa should appoint Van Basten!

Probably the same idiots who think we could attract Van Gaal.

    Get a **** grip.

I would have sounded out van Gaal just in case though wouldn't you?

    No.

It'd be as ridiculous as sounding out Mourinho if he was out of work.

You've got to understand our level, and also the level they operate at (and the wages they command for doing so). It's not a defeatest attitude, it's just common sense. We wouldn't be trying to sign Ronaldo if he was up for sale would we ?. Because we KNOW we're not in that bracket. It's exactly the same scenario.

This is why some Villa supporters make us all look deluded prtas when they call in phone in shows and talk bloody nonsense

And yet we approached Ancelotti....? I understand our level well enough and I dont subscribe to the 'why aren't they queing up' mindset. However you may as well ask everyone if you ask Ancelotti. Is the jump from Carlo to Aloysius that great ....dont think so. Dont get me wrong van Gaal is one of the greats but at 59 he may like a go the prem. He is quite difficult though and doesnt suffer from self doubt so I'm not sure he's Randy's man. By the way I dont rate the great translator as a man or manager.

  5. There was a **** idiot on the Talksport phone in yesterday saying Villa should appoint Van Basten!

Probably the same idiots who think we could attract Van Gaal.

    Get a **** grip.

I would have sounded out van Gaal just in case though wouldn't you?

  6. One of the major pluses of getting Moyes would be the reinstatement of our ability to hold onto our players!

I wouldn't be so hopeful on that score as its a question of money.

There isn't a manger on the planet that would have persuaded Ash to stay as he's being reportedly offered 120k a week. Around double what he gets here.

  7. Moyes is the perfect fit for Villa at this point in time. From Moyes point of view he must be thinking he will get typecast if he doesnt move soon. I think he had an eye on the man u job at one time but not now as times have changed.

  8. I dont think Lerner has much choice but to go for a continental manager without Prem experience. If Moyes stays put then we're down to what??

I would have hoped van Gaal would have been approached anyway and Rijkaard has reportedly made his availability known to Villa. Neither will come cheap and will want a substantial warchest otherwise I'd suspect they may say its not worth it.

The money thing is beginning to worry me with the NFL lockout posing a massive burden on Lerner's finances.

  9. For me Martinez ticks a lot of the boxes...

    1) Prem experience.

    2) Recent Prem experience

    3) Likable manager who players respect

    4) Desire to play attractive football

    5) Can work with a budget

    6) Works with the Board to develop the club. Not just rinse the coffers then run off at the first sign of trouble.

If it's not to be Moyes then RM would get my full backing.

Totally agree.... Exemplorary handling of pressure too.

Contrast his behaviour in the lead up to Survival Sunday with blabber mouth Holloway. Quiet, dignified and when the game came, looked to attack and get the 3 points.

Could do a lot worse.... If he gets the job, he has my full support.

I'd like to echo these points and add that I agree with Dave Whelan that in time he will (Martinez) go on to much bigger things. I obviously would like that to happen with Villa but nothing is certain and I would hope Villa fans gave him time if we weren't at the top of the table by October.

  10. If its between Martinez and Coyle FFS what a depressing state of affairs

There are top managers available but Randy is making a massive statement, he'll take us the same way as The Browns

Name me these said managers please.

    1. Van Gaal

    2. Rijkaard

    3. Rafa Benitez

Right first of all these are all available are they?? (I'm not sure van Gaal would say yes to us)

van Gaal - undoubtedly brilliant. He is 59 though and would want another CL club.

Rijkaard - Reputedly difficult but I would have spoken to him.

    Benitez - **** off.

  11. People get frustrated because they have no idea what conversations have taken place , what has been said and by who.

If it is Martinez then so be it .

I have watched Wigan play better football than Villa many times.

You're not far off there. If its Martinez, good luck to him.

  12. Apparently we contacted him "more in hope than expectation". What does that say about our board's thrusting dynamism??

'Apparently', which means you dont know, so why speculate??

Speculation and discussion is what this thread is for.

Yes but not criticise the club so unfairly concerning ambition.
