  1. We could monopololise the half and half scarfs that seem to be the rage nowadays.  The unofficial ones seem to sell well to daytrippers and those that want a memento.

Surprises me Villa don't have their own little hat, scarf, badge concessions dotted around the side streets on match day.

But we're miles away from having substantial numbers overseas visitors as well.

Villa will need years of Champions League Football to aquire a big enough global following and Birmingham doesn't attract enough tourists who would take in a game whilst here.

London has gazillions of the latter and Liverpool and Manchester the former.

What works in those places just isn't going to fly in Brum. Not for a long, long time anyway.

London is 90 mins away on the train and it's the premier league they want to watch not teams.  Only so many games each week fans on holiday can go to.

Having a superstar in your team helps too.

I think Heck see that as the future not the legacy fans.

Villa Park is a stately home. It has a USP.

I still think there is going to be a ceiling for the number of people willing to pay for GA+ tickets.

I'm a man with a reasonable amount of disposable income. I'm a Villa fanatic, but if I didn't have a season ticket and GA+ price level was the only way I'd get tickets I'd be thinking very carefully about if it was worth it.

I just don't think Birmingham is awash with enough people to spend £120 per game to fill endless lounges.

Tourists are the target market not us locals.

  4. I still hate Utd more than any other club out in Worcester with mates watching the game it's full of them.  Not a City fan in site apart from 1 kid in full kit earlier.

This is why I despise them more than City they don't seem to have the glory hunters.

    Kuntz the lot of them.

Shame as I love the old trefoil badge and it would absolutely make for an instant purchase. I love Adidas anyway so will be spending a lot!

Leeds had tracky tops, polo's, t shirts and trainers in the originals range so no reason we won't.

TBH and I hope Heck isn’t reading this thread, but I am surprised and amazed how cheap kids tickets are compared to an adult ticket.

In most entertainment venues, kids are 50% of an adult ticket, and there are virtually never OAP discounts or maybe 10% off.

Whereas Villa charge roughly £50 for adult and £12 for a kid (on average) which is almost an 80% discount.

    Shhhhhhh, no-one tell the Heck!!!

Kids are future customers get hooked early they come back for life.   They need an adult to bring them to the game so the club gets that revenue too.

It will be a sad day if they price families out.

Decent appointment by West Ham, think he’ll do well with them.

In theory yes but he threw his toys out the pram at Wolves over lack of funds so be interesting how he gets on with pornodwarf.

Have some saleable assets to revamp the team though.

They're starting a conspiracy theory that every time Grealish wins the league city have to pay us more money

We threw the game last season on the last day

We beat arsenal on purpose this year

All so we could get more out of the transfer fee

    😂😂😂😂😂😂

    Einsteins the lot of them!

The 60 million we gain from finishing 4th is not a consideration on how we manage games and squad rotation with European games!?

Take a look at your own teams failings not others Tarquins and learn the lessons.

I'd expect us to hit the 300k shirts with a good season.

Just remember that the slave-crafted shite you get off DHGate doesn't count towards this figure...

Would that be 300k shirts across Home, Away, Third and Goalkeepers?

I mean if it's a doozy I would buy long sleeve for me and a kit for my boy maybe.all 3!.  Must be loads of fans in a similar situation so not hard to shift 300k across all shirts and sizes.

Fake Villa shirts are normally crap due to the badge looking way off but Adidas might be easier for them to rep so hopefully now we have taken back control from Fanatics we can market it better globally.  Also give members and season ticket holders incentives to buy from the club direct.

Globally I think we could definitely hit that marker. Loads of Villa fans in Oz and there’ll be a massive push in the US now too. This is not taking into account the Villa fans at home.

we have gained fans god knows how many fans in Argentina through EMI and now being in CL that will rise again.

150 years too the biggest oldest club in the world.  Americans love history so there is that to market.

I know Forest are older but the point still stands.

  11. Was playing well for us until his injury then never got his form back.

Shrewd signing if it happens you gotta trust The Don and his team.

All the "new" teams that qualified for CL this season like us look better equipped to do well than we do:

    • Stuttgart - 2nd in Bundesliga on 73 points from 34 games, GD of +39, lost only one of their last 16 league games
    • Girona - will finish 3rd in La Liga only behind Barca and Real and ahead of Atletico, 78 points from 37 games, GD of +32
    • Bologna - probably a bit more like us, 67 points from 36 games (2 to go), but only lost 5 games and GD of +24
    • Leverkusen - goes without saying, unbeaten in all competitions, GD of +65 in their league, insane

There is a lot of work to do just to beat these teams let alone the really top ones like Real, PSG and Bayern. We need a really good transfer window and in particular to target players with elite mentalities because the players who played today don't have that at all.

It would be a real disappointment if we qualified for Europe's top tournament for the first time in 41 years to just get embarrassed. Especially given we're one of the few teams to have actually won the damn thing.

Yeah but many of those teams will have managers and their better players cherry picked.

We don't know what our squad will look like at the start of the season I trust The Don to have a plan to negotiate The Champions League.

It's bloody exciting there will be 8 chances for us to pit ourselves against Europe's elite what more can a fan ask for!?

    I'll say it now.

I won't be buying a thing with that monstrosity on it.

Will save myself a fortune. Thanks Villa.

The levitating Lion is a sign it will be used alone I think or is that I hope!

    Round badge forever!

Ive been to most big derbies in the world and Blues v Villa as an away fan was the worst experience Ive ever had at a football match. The walk back to the city centre was carnage with a LOT of violence from their lot. England v Russia in Marseille at Euro 2016 was also terrifying.

The next derby that was really full on was Boca v River Plate, which I attended at both grounds. The game at Boca kicked off outside and missiles were being thrown into the away end. (Not condiments either, like our Polish friends)

Flamengo v Vasco Da Gama was similarly violent with riot police drafted in from all around the region to deal with chaos.

Zagreb v Hajduk Split was also madness.

Celtic v Rangers has a reputation steeped in the past and basically down to religion. I absolutely would not count the 2024 version of the Old Firrm as the worst derby.

I had the flying missiles at Lazio v Roma that was fun was with a lovely young Andalucian lady at the game which was nice!

She took me to a couple of Seville games at the Sanchez Pizjuan which was lovely too.

Oh how I miss being young 😜
