  1. Definitely remember reading a Norwegian poster saying his first name was pronounced Shaw-res then as you say 'O-Kor-ay' and that's the 'O' of 'On'.

I've heard danish people pronounce it as both "johres okoureh" and "djoures okoureh".

That would be either "your-es" or "jaw-res" phonetically, but rather "okour-eh" than okour-ay. Ay would be a british twist on it I think.

  2. More fun to give credits to turnbull than google, though ;)

I thought it was just the Luna part that was translated to Moon, anyway? Not Antonio to Tony?

  3. Funny that this is mentioned. I actually dreamt that I was chatting with Lambert about this last night    :P

According to "him" his tactic was to find players that lacked one crucial thing in their game. His thinking was that they would appear as "not good enough" to others and that they would not see what kind of player they could become with that one ability. Because of this he could get his targets at good prices and would then train them hard on that one thing until they showed their true class. Benteke: Finishing. Luna: Positioning etc.

  4.

Think Pardo from Real Sociedad will become a household name within short time. Excellent player + probably last summer we could realistically get him before Real or Barca snap him up. We haven't been linked with him or anything, just hoping in the longest that we're looking to team up a another spaniard with Luna. Or that Lambert have seen the lad play :o

That won't happen. Real Sociedad is a tough club when selling players formed in Zubieta (their academy). They always sign high buyout clauses as Illarramendi (€30m to Real). Last season Real was also interested on him and they ask Pardo's buyouy clause: €30m.

Ok, thanks for the info. Makes more sense of his nickname "Pearl of Zubieta" as well.

Alright, not within our reach then. I was thinking he'd might be a £6-10m player at this point and probably would double in price after this season.

  5. Only ones I listen to is the people that runs the MOMS website, they seem to have some contacts within the club. Called Okore and Tonev long before the rest, tlked about a young Norwich keeper since start of june ++ . Even made a bet with a certain nurnberg hating twitter user on whether we were after Belhanda or not (when that was her hot topic), loser was supposed to delete twitter account ;)

  6. My 4 year old has been walking around singing "tony, tony mooooon, tony, tony mooooooon..." ever since his father went somewhat berserk in front of the telly earlier today

It was like some kind of glitch in the matrix though, couldn't make out (comprehend) who it was until  I saw him running towards the fans.

  8. Have you heard the news?

    Heee's playing today

I want to see him score a goal

    Dwight Yorke, Dwight Yooorke.

Loved that guy, my biggest idol as a young lad. Dean Saunders as well, before that.

But yeah, agree with you. Would also add Merson, Milner & (maybe) Carbone though.

  9. Not exactly the topic, but close...

When i've been over at VP i've always stood with the Holte (ahhh, that stairway to heaven!). Was thinking of taking my son/family over when he gets a bit older (he's villa mad already, at age of 4), but thinking that the holte might not be the best place for him/them. I guess trinity or witton would be the place to sit? Are there any particular areas in those ends that are considered a bit more family friendly? We're norwegian and there is still a while until he learns english, so what ever that is being shouted around us won't be a problem, but you know, would prefer a little bit of a "softer" atmosphere. Any suggestions?

  10. Well, he does with Argentina at times. Been critized a lot for that by both press and fans.

But the point isn't Messi here. The point is that a great player wouldn't necessarily set the world alight in a poor team. He might appear as a bit on & off (due to the team he plays for, not his potential or quality).

  11. I was just thinking though...

Put Messi in Hull or Crystal Palace. Wouldn't he also appear as a bit on and off don't you think? Superb when on, but would go missing. Due to team he plays for that is (the way the play, how much they can risk when going forward, how OFTEN they actually do etc.), not how good he is. Not saying that young Ryad is the new Messi, but talking about the principle. Sochaux is fighting relegation every season.

(not sure if principle is the right world, but you get it)

  12. Can play AM / CM & RW. Inter, Liverpool & Southampton was linked to him earlier this summer. Looks AMAZING on youtube. Souchaux fans says that he is a bit on and off. Superb when on, but often goes missing.
