  1. Marvin Martin will probably end up being Hazards replacement at Lille, think he's a bit above us to be honest

Same for Moussa Sissoko, we were linked last year but imagine Toulouse would want a big fee for him, he'll go to a big club.

Yeah, edited out that part. Martin is at Lille and Matuidi has moved to PSG.

Sissoko will probably end up somewhere bigger, yes. But when were talking in the hopes of finding a new viera, he is a much better shot IMO. Cost more, but for good reason.

Anyways, back to the topic... :)

  2. Actually saw a few Rennes games last season (I like to watch the games I bet on :)). Cant remember to have noticed Doumbia in any way. And if he is the new Viera, then I must have forgot how little impact he had on games. Because my memory seems to tell me that he was a beast.

  3. Just read the on the rennes board. Their supporters dont think very high of him and a few of them consider €4 mill a real coup for him as they already have better options. Stated by quite a few that he lacks the football intelligence and passing abillites to play at such a high level. Not convinced.

Brahimi on the other hands cause more fury among them. The general belief of the supporters is that he´ll go somewhere and "explode" as they put it. To prove his manager wrong (who doesnt play him) and become a star somewhere else.

  4. My post a few pages back seems to have gone by unnoticed, so once again :)

As a NORWEGIAN that watched the entire press conference:

OGS never said that he was going to stay at Molde IF he got an job offer from Villa. He said that he hadnt received an offer and therefore had his focus on Molde. He told the media that his ambitions were to manage in the premier league, but that it had to be a club HE wanted to manage (not just any PL team). He informed us that he had already turned down a few PL clubs, meaning that Villa is the first one he has wanted to talk to.

Thanks K-C, so are the quotes "I have not had any offers," Solskjaer told a press conference. "I'm not looking for another job.

"In football, and in life in general, things turn up that you have to make decisions about. I have a contract for two more years and I'll stand by that." not correct?

Personally I'm not sold on him yet, so I'm not bothered either way as imo this would be the biggest gamble since Dr Jo however if he does come then I'll be happy to give 100% support.

They are correct. But seems to be taken a bit out of their true context and/or incorrectly translated.

F.example: "Im not looking for another job" is a direct translation of a norwegian sentence that really means "I have not been searching to find another job". Which is two different things. One implies that he is staying, the other is a reminder that this isnt something that he has applied for, but rather wanted to know more about.

First one is an answer to if he has received a contract proposal from villa and third quote I cant recall being in the same sentence.

The way I PERCEIVED him he was happy to stay if nothing materialised, but also excited about the prospect of managing Villa if they wanted his service.

  6. im norwegian and saw the PC, first of all he was allowed to meet RL and PF, but when the news about the private jet broke the leaders in molde FC thought that it was to much publicity and that he should not go to birmingham. second thing is this was ABSOLUTLEY a big plea to villa come get me. if we want him we will have him, no doubt. ball is on our court now.

Backing this one as a fellow norwegian that watched the press conference.

He didnt JUST say "I have two years left on my contract and I intend to stay".

He said "in football, as with any other jobs or anything else in life for that matter, you have no guarantees. Things show up and you have to deal with situations as they arises. I cant say that we will keep all of our players just because they are under contract. It depends on them, the club and the timing and quality of the offer. I am an ambitious man, I have made it no secret that i want to manage in england one day. That being said, I do want to stress that i have not been out looking for a job. I have not contacted anyone, but rather been contacted. i have already turned down a few premier league clubs and even champion league clubs that wanted to talk to me. When Aston Villa contacted me however, and offered me a private jet so that I would be ready for training the lads the next day, I wanted to speak to them. I contacted the owner (of molde) and was given the green light to do so. In that manner, the only thing I am sorry about is all this hassle that came out of it. There has not been contract negotiation. I have not been offered a job at Aston Villa. We have simply met to get to know each other. They will also speak to other candidates and I do not know whats going to happen from here. So as of today I have two years left on my contract and I intend to stay."

Meaning, since he hasnt been offered a job elsewhere. He obviously intends to stay :)

  7. Latest on Boruc. (possibly)

Norwegian press is reporting that Celtic has been scouting Fredrikstad's Remi Shaaban for a while. Due to his superb form in the latest games they conclude that Celtic must be impressed with the former Arsenal KEEPER, although no bid has been reported yet.

Do they need to replace someone maybe? :winkold:

  8. General Krulak here:

    A couple of quick answers:

    1. Re. Scandinavia: Several weeks ago I was at the Villa Park reception area and saw a family of 5...with a young lad in a wheelchair. The family was from Trondheim, Norway and were avid Villa Fans. They try to make the trip once a year and were just at the park early to let the children feel the atmosphere. The young lad in the wheelchair had never been on the pitch so we arranged for the whole family to go down onto the pitch...and after the game, took them in to see Martin and the Team. They all got autographs and by the time they were ready to leave, all of the family were in tears. The point here is not that the family was taken care of by YOUR Club but that this wonderful family, with handicapped child, loved Villa enough to come all the way from Norway to see a game. SO, when you read about someone from Scandinavia that is a Villa Fan, salute them!! Just like fans all over the world...they love YOUR Club and want to be a part of it. We are going to work very hard to make all our fans feel appreciated...because they are.

    Amazing.

As a Norwegian, and a lifelong Villa fan, that makes me so proud to read. Im speechless.

    Thank you sir!

  9. For me it would be a Trinity Road Stand all over again

Were you happy missing half the game becasue of the trinity road pillars?? I have a feeling that if Randy was here then, he probably would have tried to incorporate the mosaic and stuff somewhere though. It isn't black and white, there are ways to move forward with respect for histroy. From what i've heard RL knows this.

I agree that it needed some work, at the same time they could certainly have done it with a bit more respect. Same goes with how long we are supposed to stretch for big sponsorship deals.

I support the Lerner takeover a 100%, and I want us to move forward, but I just don't want us to rip up the roots (or foundation if you will) on the way.

  10. I answered NO.

For me it would be a Trinity Road Stand all over again. It would take away a part of our soul IMO. We should take pride in our history and tradition. And our name/stadium are certainly one of them.

I am not THAT desperate for $$$.

  11. MILITO: According to those I've spoken to with knowledge of the Italian football scene he is real class. They expect him to really get his name known next year, and think that he is too good for "someone like Aston Villa" :) But after all, he turned down Real Madrid last winter according to reports. And one of the articles I read involved direct quotes from the man himself saying that there was interest from Juventus, Inter & Real Madrid.

Described as incredible teqnique, good physique, speed & strenght. His weakness is heading. Not good in the air at all.
