  1. Says a lot about Olympic athletes compared to footballers, that these guys aren't all completely rat-arsed right now.

No, they all got rat-arsed after they had finished their events...

...and who could blame them. If I had represented my country in a foreign city hosting the Olympic Games and I was proud of what I had achieved, I would be celebrating like there's no tomorrow. They've done themselves and their country proud - I think it's fair that they let their hair down.

I didn't say they shouldn't get drunk. Just bored with this shite of comparing Olympics athletes to footballers...

  2. Oh well, the next boxing final we're in (Joshua) starts at 15:15. Hopefully we'll pick up a gold there.

Plus team USA play in the basketball final at 14:50 against Spain. I expect USA to win, yet it will be their toughest game so far. Gasol v USA basically...

  3. ....and the bitching between Lewis and Bolt goes on.

Anyway I think that this Olympics has been amazing. I heard people say the best ever with regards to the organisation and the performances. Its between Beijing and London. But my Olympic memory only goes back to the 90s.

It's been great from start to end. The coverage from the BBC has made it for me. It's been good having it here aswell because the sports have all been on at watchable hours. When it's on in other countries it's often difficult to catch things without staying up until 3am in the morning.

Shame about the ticketing though as it's been a complete mess and has ruined it for many people. Quite a big fault in what has otherwise been an amazing couple of weeks.

  4. I think some people forget that even a bronze medal at Olympics level is an amazing achievement

Of course it is. If you're an athlete though then nothing compares to gold. You take the glory and you are the best if you win gold. Silver and bronze are for runners up. The fact remains that nobody remembers second and third...

Anyway, sad that it's the last day of the Olympics. The only thing keeping me going is the fact that football gets going again next weekend. :D

  5. £50 for Olympic tickets. Do you bid £2 for a laptop on ebay?

The default price for the cheap seats was £20.12, and there were tens of thousands of sub £50 tickets available.

Indeed. I went higher on some, such as over £100 for the basketball final and some of the athletics.

I refused to pay any more for a closing ceremony as there would be no sports though. I was just hoping I would get lucky with a £50 on that one (actually just checked and it was the £20 ones I went for). Still shocked that I somehow didn't get any for the others though.

Oh well, it's been a great Olympic games apart from the ticketing. I loved it from beginning to end and will be sad to see it all over.

  6. Tickets available for tomorrow night

    A mere £1,500 each, anyone tempted ?

I've been trying to get tickets for loads of events since last year and the closing ceremony was one of them. I drew the line at £50 though and wouldn't bid on higher value tickets.

Didn't get a single ticket for anything I went for. The whole ticketing system is a complete joke and the fact that people who were after them last year don't get any advantage on getting tickets now is laughable...
