  1. do you think thats the end of lumplard at Chelsea now.

Seriously doubt it, if Fat Frank went then you can be sure that Terry was off as well as Jose. Simply can't see it happening.

was there not a rumour going around that if jose left he would try to take them both with him.

Yeah heard that too, don't see where he/they could possibly go to who could afford them though (barring Barcalona/Real Madrid). Not too sure that Barca would open them with open arms but I know Fat Frank has a spanish wife so I guess it's possible :D

  2. I'm glad those who were there (I'm very jealous!) managed to show Randy just what we think of him and everyone else involved with our club.

"One Randy Lerner, there's only one Randy Lerner".

General, don't be surprised to hear your name chanted around Villa Park next season as you too are thought about as highly as Randy!

Now all we need is a "one General Krulak, there's only one General Krulak" and everyone's happy :)

Could you tell us how Randy felt about the day? I can imagine (and hope!) that he was touched and thoroughly enjoyed himself!

    Thankyou once again Sir!

  3. Trekka,

That's the camera I just bought. Nice piece of kit. I'm no expert but I like it.

Thanks mate, I've wanted a digi SLR for a while now. Nothing too expensive and nothing fancy but that does look good to begin with.

  4. It probably is tin hat time General regarding the badge/crest (I haven't seen it myself yet and thoroughly looking forward to it personally), I believe there are some Villans who aren't too happy and there may be a bit of a storm coming.

I just wanted to say that most of us fully trust you, Randy and the team's plans for the future of the club and as such with that bold decisions have to be made. For me, it is the overall brand and not just the badge itself. With a bright new future comes a bright new badge pulling our brand together and I for one believe it will herald exciting times ahead. I can't wait to buy my shiny new Nike Villa kit with the new badge proudly displayed. Please pass on my/our thanks to Randy and the team for the bold decisions that have been made and I'm sure every Villa fan will come to love the new badge and Villa brand acknowledging the strides forward the club is making.

All the best and many thanks again,

    Dean.

  5. Last weekend I went to watch Sporting Lisbon. I noticed a couple of interesting things. Firstly they had a massive poster right on the side of their stadium which basically had an electronic tally of tickets that were sold for that game. I think the poster translated to something like, "Are you going to stay outside or join every one else inside and get behind Sporting?"

Now that is a fantastic idea.

General, how possible would it be to look at that idea above and have our own version (technology warranting of course), possibly outside of Villa Village or if thinking further afield maybe in the City Centre where we would get a much bigger audience? If I remember correctly, in the past on Broad Street there used to be a large radio display showing what is playing/played on the (now rebranded) Choice FM. Surely if that is possible we could somehow implement a similar system?

Also, I trust you and Randy have heard a few stories already on our new local derbies next season and it's true when they say absolutely anything is possible!!

  6. According to inside contacts, the Japanese banking crisis shows no signs of ameliorating. If anything, it's getting worse following last week's news that:

    - Origami Bank had folded

    - Sumo Bank has gone belly up

    - Bonsai Bank plans to cut back some of its branches.

    - Karaoke Bank is up for sale, and it is (you guessed it!) going for a song.

    - Meanwhile, shares in Kamikaze Bank have nose-dived, and 500 back-office staff at Karate Bank got the chop.

    - Analysts report that there is something fishy going on at Sushi Bank, and staff there fear they may get a raw deal.

  7. They are stunning Cat, I've always been envy of my mates when they have SLRs (especially when I've been in South America/USA and they could get absolutely stunning pictures of just about the simplest of things!). I think I might be tempted to buy one on the old Barclaycard now after viewing this thread! In the words of Rowan Atkinson...THANK YOU BARCLAYCARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRD!! :D

Oh and Damian, your pics are some of the type of pics I enjoy the most...and the sort of pictures I like to buy to whack up on my walls! Great stuff!

  8. B) Why do they now have games that finish at 2.50pm on a Saturday - you'd have to

be bloosy quick to leave your house and get to Villa for kick off unless you lived on

    Trinity Road !!

    c) same thing for the 5.15 game

As reason a. I can't see the problem with having all kick offs 3pm saturday and just televising two - they are doing it on 13th May so whats the difference !!!

It's a fair point but even the idea of watching a game at home is an idea to put people off going to the game in the cold rain, sleet, snow, hail, thunderstorms, tornadoes, hurricanes...

  9. I like the current system. I like the idea of not showing live English footie on Saturday afternoons as it is traditionally a day of football and belongs to the true fans. If live games on TV take away from the experience of being a "true" fan then it simply isn't worth it. It also protects the lower leagues. If there is no live football on TV then the gate receipts for local teams is likely to be increased, bearing in mind that gate receipts for the small local teams is their lifeblood (and without the gate receipts would no longer be in existance). I also like the hectic nature of Saturday games, when I can't make a match listen to the days action as it unfolds over all the games (including the lower leagues). Soccer Saturday with the legend that is Jeff Stelling "they'll be dancing on the streets of TNS tonight" is :). The FA are right to have an embargo on televised live games on Saturday afternoons imo.

  10. hear hear, he would certainly get a standing ovation.

Can you give him a nudge General? :)

On that note, I would also love your good self General to make the pitch - you've been a great liason between us (as in the fans) and Randy and have put our points forward, carefully considering our thoughts and generally looking after us very well indeed. You have already been thought of as a legendary gentleman around Villa Park and I would take great pleasure in applauding you and Randy on the pitch.

  11. After having dug to a depth of 1000 feet last year, Scottish scientists found traces of copper wire dating back 1000 years and came to the conclusion that their ancestors already had a telephone network more than 1000 years ago.

Not to be outdone by the Scots, in the weeks that followed, English scientists dug to a depth of 2000 feet and shortly after headlines in the UK newspapers read: English archaeologists have found traces of 2000 year old fibre-optic cable and have concluded that their ancestors already had an advanced high-tech digital communications network a thousand years earlier than the Scots.

One week later, Irish newspapers reported the following:

After digging as deep as 5000 feet in a County Mayo bog, Irish scientists have found absolutely nothing. They, therefore, have concluded that 5000 years ago, Ireland's inhabitants were already using wireless technology.

  12. The silly squad is definitely out now! Just face it, we are going to get linked with anyone who is potentially available to a club of our stature. I know this thread is for rumours and things, but it's getting way too deep now. Let's just wait and see what happens from June 1st hey?

That would spoil all the fun! There's me about to post that we have been linked with Ronaldinho too :crylaugh:

  13. A lorry driver was driving along on a country road. A sign came up that

read " Low Bridge Ahead." Before he realised it, the bridge was directly

ahead and he got stuck under it..

Cars are backed up for miles. Finally, a police car comes up.

The policeman got out of his car and walked to the lorry's cab and said to

    the driver,

    "Got stuck, eh?"

The lorry driver said, "No, I was delivering this bridge and ran out of

    petrol!"
