Wouldn't be too keen on Wes Brown either! He hasn't actually got a clarified position at Utd, which if you look at it one way means he is versatile, though if you are slightly synical like me it means he is just a replacement!

General,
After reading the Richard Fitzgerald thread, it is mentioned about the LCD screens and a new 'proper' scoreboard. Any idea when we will see these? Possibly before the end of the season?
Also, I appreciate it is a long way off, but when plans are agreed for the new North Stand, will we have access to them? When the New Trinity plans were released, there was a full spread of about 6 pages in the Claret and Blue. Would you be able to arrange for a similar delivery of the information i.e. CGI's and stats etc. in the Claret and Blue or via a special pamphlet on request?
Cheers
Jon

we should sign Billy Sharp! It's time we took a risk with a couple of lower league players. He has scored 27 this season and he's only 21
Pompey have said they are after him so we will see him in the Prem one way or another, just hope it's not something we regret if it's not with us!
We are after Darren Fletcher from Man Utd. He is good player and we need creative players like him in our midfield. http://tinyurl.com/3e2lybOn the matter of Darren Fletcher - no thank you! I have had enough of United rejects! We are supposed to be building a squad to catch them and the others up, if we bought Fletcher we would be doing them all a favour!

Yep Prem definitely, it's the Worlds top league not just Europe's - Although it would facilitate a springboard towards challenging for Euro glory, which would be nice!

Maybe we can finally put this Villa (David not Aston) guff to bed then???

General Krulak here:
1. I will mention the idea of a player or two on the web sites...but it is a double-edged sword. They should not be placed in a situation that they are asked questions that they can't or shouldn't answer...which means that Martin would have to play a role too. Also, anything on this site (or others) beocmes fair game for the press. Some things that seem like good ideas can have unbelievable unintended consequences.
2. Gates. In the US, sometimes gates are named after corporate sponsors...as well as people.
1. Ahhh the refreshing smell of shrewd business
2. Ahhh the refreshing smell of things to come....?
However General, on the point of number 1; How about sorting some sort of player/ fan meet and greet/Q+A at the season end or during pre-season? That way, things may not be taken so literally nor have such an adverse affect!

If Villa became available I'm pretty sure he end up at one of the really huge European clubs. He's a great player, not sure how suited he would be to the prem. But certainly out of reach of all teams but the top 4 I would imagine.
Exactly!

The point was to aim at a little more realistic team. Do people seriously still think that even though we have millions we can attract David Villa? Come on now!
Yes
Oh dear!

EH - Why not both? Sidwell is creative as well as defensive and we'd need a defensive minded player to put McCann under pressure.
Baz - if not Barton how about Reo-Coker? Either of them have the attitude that we need to get the fight in on the pitch that McCann doesn't have consistently! It's a bit of agression that makes players proper players in our league!
-
I've had a think about possible signings that could give us a decent first team and each of the new signings are all home grown players. None of this would be set in stone, but I think it's a tad more realistic than signing Eto'o etc.!
The formation lined up will be a 4-3-3
Players Out:
Angel - £2m?
Taylor - £1.5m
Sutton - Free
Delaney - Free
Samuel - £1m
Dj Twins - £1m
Hendrie - £1m
Paddy Berger - £500k
Total - £7m
Players In:
Foster - £4m
Bardsley - £1.5m
Barton - £5.5m
Sidwell - Free???
Ashton - £8m
Total - £19m
Squad list:
GK - Foster/Sorenson
DL - Barry/Bouma
DR - Bardsley/Hughes
CD - Laursen/Ridgewell
CD - Mellberg/Cahill
DM - Barton/McCann
CM - Davis/(Gardner/Ozzy)
CM - Sidwell/Pertov
WL - Maloney/Moore
FC - Carew/Ashton
WR - Young/Gabby
A couple of extra possibilities; Getting a more experienced CM to rotate with Davo, replacing Hughes with another RB and possibly another more experienced CB to help the younger lads.
Overall, that would mean 17 of the first team were home nation players which should help to raise the profile of Villa within the UK.
Any thoughts?

I second your call Swetcorn.
General, it would be great to be informed of any plans that might be in the brewing, early designs, statistics etc. It wouldn't aid as just another motivational offering for the fans, but it would make a lovely talking point for all on here. I understand that there is only so much that can be said in the early stages of planning, but anything would be a great start.
Also, would the recent news by Sullivan prompt a rethink in design of any redevelopments of the north stand? He is talking about blues getting a purpose built facility which would also represent Birmingham if the World Cup came here as their capacity would be higher and the facilities better than VP! As a Villa fan I for one wouldn't want to see that happen, we are the top club in Birmingham and things have to stay that way. In sight of this and knowing that Randy financed the new stadium for the Browns after he took over form his Dad, has a new build been discussed for us within the next 10 years?
Any info would be greatly appreciated, cheers

Definitely Sidwell, although the tabloids have said that Chelski are interested! If we could get Barton as well then that would be just smashing, it would certainly give us some attitude.
-
For further information, we currently have:
Seniors
Gareth Barry as the only current England international
Davo and Hughes as current Northern Ireland internationals
Delaney (when fit) as the only current Welsh international
Shaun Maloney as the only current Scottish international
U21's
Cahill, Moore, Gabby, Young, (Ridge???), (Bardsley???), (Osbourne???), (Gardner???) as England U21 internationals, but the odds of even one of them playing at senior level are limited by the influence of the big four!
So to summarise, that gives us five current home internationals and potentially eight U21 internationals! With a few quality home grown additions we could realistically reach that 10-15k area.
Any thoughts.....?

English players and great attacking passion
Sounds good to me. The more home nation players the better I say.
Imagine if we had in our ranks 15 or so home nation players at U21's and Senior level. We would make the press in each of the four seperate countries and gain fans along the way. Plus you get the added bonus that these guys know from the start how to play the English game!

i hope to got that bellamy does not come here, as i think that the Carew and Young partnership can blossom very well and start producing a strike force to be reckoned with!!
I would however like to see David Villa come to villa park, how strange would that be though having Villa on the back of a villa shirt???
SWP will stay in london if he has the choice now and IMO spurs will sign him!! I would also like to see another right back and central midfield play bought in in the summer to have ample cover in these areas.
Realistically Villa is not in our league by a mile. He is one of La Liga's most prolific finishers and has already shown his desire to play for one of the big four. My bet is on Liverplop for him, joining Rafa's Spanish revolution freeing up Bellend in the process but who know's where he will go...?
I can see SWP coming to us though, something tells me that the deal will be just WRIGHT for him! I think with the amount of attackers we have we are definitely looking to move back to a 4-3-3 and that will be reflected in our summer ins and outs.
-
We all know Chelsea get a different price for a player they want over every other club, if we got David Villa for say 15m then great, i don't care how much, just get this striker in our team, he is simply superb.. not just cause of his name though.
Please, Please, Please MON do everything you can to get him!!!
And please get us Ronaldinho, Cannavaro and Buffon as well. Or maybe we should be a little bit more realistic.
Yeah il stand by being realistic.. lets get Villa in the door first and maybe worry after that about the others in mention later! 8)
Read somewhere today that he would only consider the top four! Players like that are not in our league... yet!

General Krulak
On top of any forthcoming stadium annocuements, could you also shed light on how the training ground is progressing perhaps with some pictures for us to check out here or on the official site?
Also, Mr Fitzgerald mentioned about the website contract, now I'm not a fan of the official one that we currently have and a new one sooner rather than later would be good perhaps involving the fans as to what they want to see on there etc. Any thoughts?

I think more than anything Wilf's confidence has increased incredibly and his performances with it. He has definitely cemented his place in MON's plans and deserved his international call up. Good on him!
