Is the General going to put these on the other websites so all other fans know about them? My particular favourite atm is the 'ooh aston villa, my might villa...'. Plenty of time to learn the songs as well.
wonder if the board could arrange the words of the songs to be displayed on the big screens or if they could print the lyrics in the match day programmes
I pm'd the general earlier today and he would be interested to know what we come up with in it's entirety. If we can use this thread to get idea's down, we can then refine a complete list of songs to sing for next season.
It would be good to have something concrete in place by the start of the season I think and if the General likes it we can try and get something published to distribute to the fans. It would be ideal to have a song sheet or something like that which can be handed out on the supporters buses or with teh programs.

[ Portsmouth now also have a wealthy owner, so it doesn't seem very likely.
This is the wealthy owner who spent £5.5 million in the summer? I have serious reservations that this guy is as rich as people make out.
He is building them a new stadium though, £600m for the whole development!
-
.. i saw a predicted budget by The Times.
Spending power
How much money will the clubs that could play in next year’s Premiership have available to spend?
£50m plus Chelsea
£40m Manchester United, Aston Villa
£30m Sunderland, Liverpool, West Ham
£20m Arsenal, Newcastle, Manchester City (dependant on takeover)
£10-15m Derby, Tottenham, Everton, Wigan, Birmingham, Sheffield United, Blackburn, Bolton, Middlesbrough, Southampton, West Bromwich Albion, Wolverhampton
£5m Fulham, Portsmouth, Reading
....
This Times article is poorly researched and mostly rubbish. Apart from anything else, it doesn't even say whether or not the predicted figures relate to net spending (i.e. money spent after subtracting money received from player sales).
Let's take the case of W.Ham, for example. Sure they now have a wealthy owner, but they've already spent a load on new players in January in their desperate efforts to stay up, to say nothing of the huge wages they've committed themselves to in the case of several of their new signings. They've also just been fined 6m by the FA over the Tevez and Mascherano 'registrations'. And on top of that they'll receive something like 6m less than Spurs (for example) in league prize money due to their final finishing place (if they stay up).
Yet despite all this, and the despite the fact that Spurs have had a bumper income this season from all their cup runs (TV money, gate receipts etc.) and have a big wadge of cash saved up from their low net spending during the last 5 transfer windows, we're supposed to believe that W.Ham will spend perhaps three times as much as Spurs this summer (10m versus 30m) as we push for top 4 next season. It just doesn't add up.
Here's another example of why the article is largely nonsense in the article: It's very likely that Spurs will shortly (next couple of weeks) finalise a deal for Younes Kaboul (a French U-21 centre-back from Auxerre) for 7 - 7.5m. So that's possibly 70 - 75% of our summer budget gone already if you believe the times article.
Sunderland to spend 30m? I strongly doubt that.
Derby (Birmingham, W.Brom etc.) to spend 3 times the small amount that Portsmouth can supposedly only afford? Portsmouth now also have a wealthy owner, so it doesn't seem very likely.
I'm not saying that all the figures in the article are wide of the mark (from what I read on this board it seems that your wealthy new owner will spend big this summer, so maybe the 40m for Villa is correct - I wouldn't know), but a lot of the figures seem to me like they've plucked out of the air with very little substance to back them up..
I do believe.....? :winkold:

If we got Distin and Young, that would improve our backline greatly, and for a price of around 2 -3 million
it would mean that distin could cover both centre back and left back, and would give Cahill opportunities to progress and improve.
and then we would be able to pay more attention to maybe paying that bit more to get the better players in midfield and attack
No doubt a bargain pair at £2-3m there Sam. Let's not stop there though, I think we will likely be looking at 2 RB's over the course of next season. Imo Hughes won't be an adequate replacement come injury time!
-
And he is about 200 years old! Ok early 30's but still, no thanks.
Giggs has already stated he wants to finish his career at ManUre so very much out of the question
-
by the way not sure if it was posted in 200 pages yet.. but i saw a predicted budget by The Times.

£5m Fulham, Portsmouth, Reading
Good to see us not with Fulham and the likes.
Something tells me that we wouldn't be on that list if things had stayed as they were! Cheers Randy, Kudos to you and now us
-
Wow, yes please!
-
What about getting Hargreaves???
Regardless of our wealth, I wouldn't think we are in the £20m on 1 player group just yet!
Besides, I'd value Hargreaves at about £15m. Bayern have pushed the price up just to scrimp every penny out of United.
-
Looks like the Sidwell story is bollocks. Not enough press on it to be fair just pure speculation. Until one party (i.e Reading, Sidwell or the buying club) releases details confirming the transfer I wouldn't read too much into it.
A move to Chelski wouldn't suprise me though, some people just don't learn! Plus I caught that WAGS thing once or twice and it wouldn't surprise me if his misses wanted the status of being a Chelski WAG! One thing is for sure though, if he plays for them he will definitely make the England team!
-
Is this definitely confirmed? I cant find it anywhere!
-
If we have the cash Sevilla right back Daniel Alves. Sevilla were accused of being 'outrageous' in their demands by Barcelona, so they would sell for the right price.
Lets be honest he is way out of our league and I think most people now that. He would walk into any club in the world so why, regardless of our bouyant situation would he pick us over Barca, ManUre, Chelski etc. And why do you presume we would be willing to pay more? That won't happen with MOn in charge, we will pay what they are worth!
This should be changed to "Realistic transfer thread: Rumours, speculation & suggestions" just so people turn up on the same planet as each other!
-
Is Sidwell a dead cert for Newcastle? because with Roeder gone he might consider playing for a better team
:winkold:
The stupid rumours section in the Star or the Sun have got him down as moving to Chelski on a 50k a week contract!
hmmmmm........!
-
For me Nasri would be an absolute class signing, he's a Berger/Merson type of player with pace and good skills, i think he'd fit right into our midfield and take it up a notch, i think he's one of those players that could turn into a real star with a little time and experiance, getting young talented players like Nasri and Young is the way forward and i'm glad Mon see's it like that too.
A vid of Nasri
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbjYyikbUew&mode=related&search=
Looks a real gem. If he can translate his techniques into the speed of the prem then I've no doubt he would be an assured signing.
-
Stick up for the guy here - If you are telling me you douldn't want Alan Smith at Villa then you surely don't watch much football !!. And I tell you what, If we had got McCarthy we would be playing Champs league football THIS YEAR !!!. Makes you wonder where we would have got if we had of bought him when we were top of the league - 15 goals in his first season isn't what I call rubbish !!!!.The rest are rubbish in comparison to where we want to go or totally ungettable!!!
Who said Smith was rubbish?
-
dogey do do
anyway, McShane was again at RB today (contrary to a belief of a few here) he's far more accumplished as a RB then CB. He got took off when the game was safe.
There's some remarkable 'name' players being banded around here.
Arteta would be a very nice signing and personally for where we want to be going, we should be buying players from teams like everton and spurs. Why buy from the middle tier when we have the finances to go higher.
Quick 'realistic' suggestions from me:
Blackburn: McCarthy, MGP and Bentley.
Bolton: Nolan.
Charlton: Young and D.Bent.
Everton: Fernandez and Arteta.
Fulham: Rosenior.
Liverpool: Bellamy.
Man City: Distin and Barton.
Man Utd: Smith.
Newcastle: Milner
Portsmouth: Taylor.
Reading: Sidwell and Doyle.
Spurs: Huddlestone.
Wigan: Baines and Scharner.
Why buy from the middle tier you said!
Terrible list of players except Bent, Distin, maybe Barton, Sidwell and Baines who all are gettable. The rest are rubbish in comparison to where we want to go or totally ungettable!!!
Scharner and Fernandez??? C'mon, Sharner - Wigan for 2 seasons not really set the world on fire and Fernandez - One good goal against ManUre and everyone's favourite player
Arteta, yes please but ungettable!
-
Is an Everton player and would be an absolute gem, but unlikely as he has already said he isn't prepared to leave Everton.
Where did you hear this rumour?
-
On football365.com, kepa blanco, sevilla's striker currently on loan at whu, claims that Villa, portsmouth, newcastle and man city have offered him a chance to play for them next season.
If that story is true I will be officially pissed off!!! The boy is shite, no thanks
-
Young and free (more like skint) at 23 and 185 days!
-
Been thinking about it - does anyone know why Sidwell wasn't playing? injured? Suspended? Or is it 'mysterious - ie, he's off to Newcastle in the summer?
I think it could possibly have been Milner - I think MON would still like a right winger.
The above comments cover the Milner question, but do you think he was there for more than just Milner?
I'm not saying I want these players, or that we have a chance at them but:
Dyer (did he play? My Sopcast was too fuzzy)
Owen???
I would love to think he was there for Shorey!!!
He was also sat next to Venables, having a joke and a laugh they were, though not about GB one hopes. More likely about Steve McClaren!
EDIT: I struggled for names as neither team oozes much quality, especially the Barcodes and their back flaw!

me at a far too early hour of the morning at the Taj
trying to post my first image on villatalk ....
Edit ..wow it worked
as this is so easy , here's the next villa fan in the family ..i was trying to make him into a cat before you call the NSPCC
and one for Drat :-)
me in the concorde cockpit after my flight back from New York
New York..? Cockpits..?
Topical :?
-
You could also question the fact that Martin O'neill has only £7million available to him! I don't think this paper has done it's research!
To be honest i tend to believe it even more when the story orignates from said players country, for example the Alpay transfer was all over the media in Turkey way before it hit the british press, i'm not concerned about the money quote, it's the quote regarding Mon's interest that matters ,
Furry muff :winkold:
