  1. My car is running low on oil...... do I ignore it and hope for the best so when the engine blows up it is worth not a lot or do I put some oil in give it a service and maintain it's value?

Hope Randy services his jet properly or he will not be long on this earth

  2. Denis - what do you want him to say?  Realistically?

This season has not been good enough.

Paul and I will do everything in our power to ensure we do not get caught up in a relegation struggle.

We are trying t oget players in as we all agree the squad needs strengthening

Rest assured I am 100% commited to AVFC and despite recent set backs we will get it right...

And as a PS... I appreciate I know **** all about football so I will be getting someone on the board to assist in footballing matters as me and the CEO are **** clueless :)

  3. "During January Paul and the Board have discussed a variety of players although nothing has yet materialised."

This is the key bit for me. There has to be funding available.

Remember Dougs list of players hewas waving around 10 years or so ago........ means nothing

  4. But is it pointless?  People have been getting agitated by the 'wall of silence'  He has tried to address that.  He's tried to reassure fans that he's backing the manager and trying to get players in.  Just because it doesn't say what some people want to hear doesn't make it pointless.

I don't see how people can criticise him for saying nothing then criticise him for actually saying something.  As I said, damned if you do....

Well he could have recited the first verse of the National Anthem and be credited for speaking - thats niot actually saying anything is it?

  5. Well as hairyhands is the clubs own paid media man Doogan it is hardly surprising he got it right is it?

    This
article in the Mirror basically substantiates everything that
'hairyhands' has stipulated on this site so i think several posters
including myself (which i have already done) owe him an apology.

  6. And Dear Old Uncle Doug would always speak to the press head on - unlike Lerner who sends an employee trained in media work to masquerade as 'ITK' to come onto Villa Talk and spout propaganda - rather than front it himself or tell the man who should be doing it his CEO to get off his arse and answer questions of the media.

  7. Wolves still managed to get £12m for fletcher.. If benteke continues to develop he will be a lot better than fletcher, and this should be utilised in negotiations. He is on a long contract as well.

but that was MON splashing the cash :-)
  8. How about thisthen for a damning indictment on our current predicament

he Millwall captain scored a crucial equaliser to cancel out Darren
Bent's opener for the visitors - and he believed Paul Lambert's side
were scared of his physical presence.

"I was surprised because most of their defenders were kind of small,"
Shittu said. "The guy they put on me looked really worried. In the
second-half he was begging me not to score another goal
    .

"It was about time I scored. I think this is the first time the
manager has told to go up for every set-piece and it was nice to be back
up there again. I'm usually on the half-way line.

"Their whole team looked vulnerable. We expected more from them to be honest because they are a Premier League side

  9. Where is that apologist Hairy **** Hands this morning then?

I could do with a good laugh after the last 4 days

I do apologise I made a slight mistake.........MR DOOGAN WHERE ARE YOU?

  10. Agree

Next season we'll be the team with the highest wage budget in the Championship and the cost cutting will begin again.

This idea that once we get the high earners of the book Lerner will start spending big again is just a silly dream.

The only "positive" thing Lambert has managed to do is reduce the wage bill, nothing more.

Shockingly it seems that this is the only requirement Lerner has as that joke of a manager is still here, even more shocking some fans seem fine with this as "they see the bigger picture" and that given 2-25 years Lambert will be the next Alex Ferguson and lead us to glory

Agreed - he is trying to cut the wage bill in the Premiership. No relegation clauses in player contracts so we will have to offload and lose money on transfers as it will be a 'fire sale'.

Then those on lower wages now will still be on high, for the Championship, wages and he will want those lowering and the cycle continues.................

  11. How long is left on his contract? It must have been at least a 3 year deal, if not 4 I guess. That means if we want to hold on to him, we can, and if we don't go straight back up he won't have lost too much of his sell on value.

RL will pocket about £8m profit from selling him - so why would he want t okeep him against his will and risk his value dropping?

  12. From Mat Kendriks match report - how true

But an emergency is unfolding at Villa too. And despite the blaring
sirens too many people at this football club are putting their fingers
in their ears and hoping the sorry situation will remarkably right
    itself.

  13. What ever happens at the end of the season Benteke will be gone..... he is using us as a showpiece for what he can do. He is on piss poor wages (in comparison I know) and will go to another Prem club or more likely back to Europe. No way on this earth will he play in the Championship with this bunch of no hopers.

  14. I thought no one was bothered about last night's game? I certainly didn't. In fact I wanted to go out. So why the overreaction?

Some of you should be embarrassed at the stuff you're posting. You certainly will be at the end of the season when Lambert keeps us up against all odds.

You WANTED us to lose? Crazy...... yes we could have done without that game but what reaction will this cause for the NUFC game? Players even more disheartened, the fans even more angry and pissed off, the manager even more clueless and the press smelling blood...... a win would have been a lot more useful
