It makes sense.  The 'big 6' have massive revenues, the cap is so high that they hit the European cap first but can still spend £300-400m or so a season.

The small revenue clubs not in Europe can now massively outspend Villa up to £300-400m per season.

Villa hit the European cap first rather than the PL cap, so we can only spend £150-200m per season.

Basically it kills Villa and any other non big 6 club that qualifies for Europe.

This is literally the worst option of all spending proposals for Villa.  Almost like it was specifically designed to kill Villa and Newcastle.

    This is what I thought....

There's an informal meeting tomorrow - it's not clear at the moment if that's with a focus on season ticket prices, but I'm sure they'll be discussed.

Did the meeting talk about season ticket prices at all?

I think a lot of it will be in re-profiling existing hospitality areas - so ripping out all of the Doug Ellis boxes (and the lounge behind) and replacing it with one big lounge with seating across the front - that kind of thing potentially doubles your capacity in there without impinging on the bowl itself.

Also I'm assuming this wouldn't require planning permission - so can be done quite quickly?

    New sleeve sponsor next season.

Wow.  That is exciting.  Doubling plus all existing sponsorship deals - and more sponsors to come by the sound of it.  Fair play.

Reported as £40m over two years - which I suspect is more than we currently get for all three of our kit properties - the manufacturer, the main sponsor and the sleeve - combined.

    It's a step up.

It really is - and I think I expect 3 more deals - sleeve; training kit and kit supplier.  And likely big numbers associated with those too.

The new round badge isn't great. I can absolutely see why you'd want to quickly move on from it, it's too similar to too many other badges and it disappears in the crowd of other crests due to how generic it is. It's like the AI generated image of modern clean football club badge with a heraldic lion in claret and blue.

The Lerner revamp we're getting makes it look like the best football club badge ever designed. The Lerner badge is bad and always was no matter how much they tinker it to try to rescue it, and now we're getting something that is actually worse somehow.

    It's **** terrible.

I like the new badge.  This is all a matter of opinion.

Given the company involved, and the background of the individuals appointed, this is very strongly pointing to NSWE looking at a major development, ie huge multi use development with a new stadium. Hopefully that's what they're planning, anyway.

I've said this in the Villa Park development thread - but all the new Directors have also been appointed as Directors of NSWE Stadium Ltd - which owns Villa Park and is listed as a property investment company.

  8. Interestingly all of the new Directors for Aston Villa have been added to be Directors for NSWE Stadium Ltd - the company that brought Villa Park a few years back.

    About the poor website?

I don't know, but it says something!  One to ask at the next Fan Advisory Board perhaps (about what's happening with the investment, not the poor website).

The communication is terrible at the moment. What is happening with Atairos ? Have the club/Premier League confirmed the investment? The Atairos website has removed the article that they are involved with V Sports/Aston Villa. 🤔

V Sports S.C.S. (“V Sports”), a joint venture of Nassef Sawiris and Wesley Edens and the owner of Aston Villa FC Limited and Aston Villa Women’s Football Club Limited (together, “AVFC” or the “Club”), is pleased to announce that it has entered into an agreement with Atairos to become a partner in V Sports. V Sports will continue to own 100% of AVFC post-closing of the transaction and will continue to have full control of all decisions at AVFC.

    Still on the Villa site

Doesn't a planning permission remain valid for 5 years once granted? Also doesn't that mean that you only have to make a start within 5 years to keep it valid? It's not that we have withdrawn our application is it - or have we?

We have to start development on the North Stand by 22 December 2025 if we are to keep the planning permission - so 20 months to break ground before permission expires (though I think you can apply to keep it going before it expires).

    What's the warehouse?

The Warehouse' will have a bar, big screen zone, food and beverage courtyard and a multi-use event floor. A microbrewery will also be installed in this facility.

The Warehouse can be converted for community events, like recruitment fairs or for the use of school children. The building will also be capable of hosting indoor football events.

For about three years the plan was to build a new North Stand for 2026.

Even if you are correct and they announced a new plan this summer we have still, now, a firmly established pattern of flip flopping on our badge and our stadium so who knows if that plan will stick.

Faith has definitely been shaken with the off the pitch carry on.

I get that to a degree - I think the club could communicate better - that's why I am expecting big things to tie into the 150 year celebration.  And I haven't lost faith.  The club has made excellent decisions football wise, and is focusing on addressing FFP via sponsorship and commercial partnerships - which is where they think they can close the gap fastest. I am all for that.  I am sure that they will get to the stadium (don't forget we're getting the Warehouse this summer) but they are prioritising their efforts on the business side to make us more competitive football wise and then I expect to allow further investment - I trust the ownership.

    That's optimistic given past events.

Perhaps. We'll see.  If I was doing all this, that's how I'd announce the stuff.  Link it to a big celebration; talk about the next 150 years.

I don't understand why we wouldn't?  If we have a gap of, say, £50m to fill and have a sale of Ramsey lined up for £50m, why wouldn't we bring in a replacement in the winter window to get him settled more readily for the start of the next season?  His cost will be at worst something like £3m + wages.  It's "nothing".

I think they wouldn't do it as there is no way that we can be 100% that we'd sell Ramsey for that much.  And so spending when you know you were in breech would lead to a higher punishment.  If we really think there's any risk of a PSR issue on 30 June we really shouldn't have been buying in January - we should have been selling.

  16. I just don't think we're in a £50m PSR hole.  I don't think the club is run that badly.  Look at the players we sold last year - after the £120m loss - all youth team and the two main ones raised £30m ish?

Also - I expect our high wage/turnover ratio is partly due to paying off Stevie G and his lot and bringing in the new management team.

I think this is speculation rather than informed knowledge on this occasion.

    I don't think so.

We're still a venue aren't we, despite "pausing" the plans? (genuine question)

That's not clear.  Last Villa have said is that they are in conversation with the FA and UEFA

That’s exactly my stance too, my and my son are on there, but he’s 6 so I wouldn’t be buying him an ST for a few years at the very least. My guess is as the price goes up less and less people will be able/willing to buy one. I bet at least a 3rd of those on the list if offered one today would decline. You can decline it once is that right?

    Here's the rules: https://www.avfc.co.uk/club/legal/season-ticket-waiting-list-terms/

The email inviting you to purchase a Season Ticket will indicate the deadline for purchasing a Season Ticket, which is at the Club’s sole discretion. If you do not purchase or are unable to purchase a Season Ticket before the deadline, your offer to purchase will lapse for that Season. You will be entitled to remain on the Waiting List for any opportunities that may arise to purchase Season Tickets in the following Season. If you do not purchase a Season Ticket after being invited to do so on three separate occasions, you will be automatically removed from the Waiting List and will need to reapply to the Club to go back on the Waiting List. In these circumstances you will join the end of the Waiting List.

The club has a meeting with the FAB on 27th March to talk through next season's Season Ticket pricing and structure - so with that in mind, It'd be interesting to know peoples thoughts.

    Will you be renewing?

What are you expecting in terms of pricing?

What would make the season ticket more attractive to you and what would force you to give it up?

What do you think the club could do differently with season ticketing or season ticket holders?

What are your feelings on the waiting list and the chances of people on the list getting tickets next year?

How much is yours and how much has it gone up over the last couple of seasons?

Where do you feel we sit in relation to other clubs and their offer?

All of that sort of stuff (and more) please.

I am a long way down the waiting list - and I would be really interested to hear what the club's view is the point of being on the list if stadium expansion isn't on the cards?

In terms of pricing - I think an inflation level rise is fair this year, given the significant increases previously - and the vast increase that we're expecting on sponsorship next season.

And one more question, if that's ok?  Is season ticket/ticket pricing the only item on the agenda for the meeting - or is it a wider FAB that will cover other issues (ie stadium plans, recent financial results, etc)?

I don't think we've ever split our kit and training between sponsors before - be interesting if we do.

Was the Trade Nation deal multi-year?

I think the Trade Nation was 3 years, and BK8 too, but there have been strong rumours of us mutually ending the arrangement early.

In terms of training kit - we don't have any sponsor on there at the moment - and it was previously Cazoo - so I expect the club are looking at this hard (Liverpool and others make a decent amount out of this).

  21. For 24/25 in terms of sponsors is this accurate:

    Kit Manufacturer - Adidas

Front of Shirt sponsor - Likely new sponsor with BK8 dropping?

    Sleeve Sponsor - Trade Nation

Training Kit sponsor - Likely new sponsor

That right?  Lots of opportunity for additional revenue there?
