I can't remember the last time Villa played so well.
Incredible performance and hard to pick a MOTM.

Went to Prague in 2008 which was an absolutely amazing away day and who can forget that Inter Milan game in the 90s??
Would love for European nights to return to Villa

While Europe would be nice it can be a real burden, especially if you don't have a super strong squad which we don't.
I'd be happy having another year without it to really build and concentrate on the league and the domestic cups.- 1

It was a backs against the wall at times but you'd expect that against the league leaders.
I felt overall we more than held our own and had a couple of good opportunities in the 2nd half to get a third.
Don't think Martinez can be blamed for any of the goals, and I'm sure had he got his head onto that corner at the end to equalise no one would have questioned him going up for it. Its the gamble you take

Sportsman Soi 13 is pretty good for sports and there used to be a few Villa fans that watched it there, it's been a while since I've been though!

I've never felt as comfortable defending a lead as I do under Emery.
Not the best performance, I think the ref was quite favourable to us but we did enough.

Absolute joke of a decision. The game is gone

Didn't watch it as it was 3am here, I know stats don't paint the whole picture but we won 2-1, had more possession, more shots and more shots on target.
Anyone reading this thread would think it was an absolute robbery.
Was it really that bad?

Perfect away performance against against a side many saw as favourites.
Kamara MOTM but also thought Ashley Young was right up there.
Lots better from McGinn and good a cameo from Coutinho.

I guess ....apart from nigh on triple the wages and actual trophies on his CV.
A footballer's career is short.
I'd like to think someone of his ability wouldn't be content warming the bench in his prime years no matter how many trophies the team won.

I think if someone had given him a crystal ball that looked 18 months in the future when he was considering the move to City then his decision would be very different.
Great bit of business for us getting 100m but his career has really stalled, if not declined since then.

As an English man, picking between Argentina or France to win the world cup is like choosing between contracting syphilis or genital warts

What if England get to the final and it's against Argentina? Imagine a penalty shootout against our keeper? That's a real conflict of interest for me.
Was thinking exactly the same.
We love the shithousery when he's in a villa shirt but not sure we would like a taste of it in the world cup final.

I still think Thailand would have been amazing.
Incredibly liberal, football mad, they actually have stadiums as well
June is rain season with some pretty extreme weather both hot and very wet which would make it unsuitable.
Overall a better option than Qatar though!

Just can't see us beating Utd twice in a week as nice as it would be.
I'm going to go for a traditional throwing away of a lead with a couple of dodgy referring decisions.
-
I can't actually believe we have beaten Man Utd at Villa Park.
Great performance.
Ramsey MOTM for me

Excited to see the dawn of a new era but let's be realistic here, we are absolutely dross and low on confidence. The most likely result is a defeat.
It's going to take a lot more than 3 days to uncoach the last 12 months.
I just expect to see a spirited performance with the players giving it 100%, a decent set up, a game plan and logical substitutions.
Would happily take a point right now.

Of all time, Maradona. He really was a one man team that galvanised and dragged teams to heights they never should have reached.
What he did at Napoli in particular is stuff of legends. In a rough league in an era when stars like him were targeted with tackles that are literally unfathomable in the modern age.
The 86 world cup needs no comment.
Of the modern age, Ronaldinho. For 3 or 4 seasons he was as close to unplayable as I've ever seen, and did it all with a smile on his face. Every time he got the ball you were expecting magic, an absolute joy to watch.

Great appointment, was comfortably in my top 3 wish list which I deemed unrealistic (The other two were Poch & Tuchel).
Lets get this ship turned around Unai!

So the leak had legs.
Shape and team selection what everyone wanted.
Down to the players now

So british managers are a guarantee for quality? Now I’ve heard everything.
Thats not my point, my point is many are clambering for obscure foreign managers with limited experience which I personally think is huge risk.
I'd love someone like Emery or Tuchel but realistically that's not happening.
We could do a lot worse than a steady pair of hands that knows the league and could consolidate our Premier league status.
Going down this season would undo all the hard work and investment of NSWE and would set us back years.
-
All those advocating going for an unknown, unproven manager purely because they are foreign have short memories.
Remi Garde says hello.

Dominated the game and had a few clear chances we should have buried. Another day we win that comfortably.
We were totally playing the ref too!
Overall a lack of quality in the final third and running out of steam regards Europe. In honesty, we were punching well above our weight even contending at this stage of the season given where we were.
A big summer needed and some quality added.
