  1. Never a red for me. He wasn't off the ground and his studs weren't showing. It was a late, clumsy challenge and was a definite yellow but red was ridiculous. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the guy he fouled either, he was straight up within seconds until he decided to fake an injury to try and dramatise the situation, which worked. McGinn will be a big miss over the next 3 games
  2. Typical over reaction on here as always. It was poor but it was fairly evenly poised at half time with neither team showing any real quality. We potentially shaded the first. Second half we imploded against what is a good team. The red card was soft in my opinion and put an end to any hope of getting back into the game. Injuries and fatigue got the better of us and they looked the fresher team, which they should be given we played on Thursday and are down to the bare bones.
  3. Huge win and a gritty performance in the second half. Martinez with another game winning save! So vital Thought the ref was okay.
  4. According to Google, over 13,000km by land
  5. Feels like 2 points dropped but got to be happy to salvage a point at the end. 1st half was total domination but we created very little. 2nd half was a disgrace and Sheffield Utd looked the more likely to score for much of it. We struggle against teams that play a low block and today was another example of it. Teams will increasingly play this way against us so we really need to work out a way of playing against it. Cash is no where near the level we need. We should prioritise a right back in January. Lenglet didn't do anything particularly wrong, but he is a huge drop in quality from Pau, especially in possession. Diaby a shadow of the player we had at the start of the season. Bailey poor again today and thought McGinn and Luiz were off it. A couple of dodgy VAR decisions, penalty in the first half and the handball. I think they got it right for the goal but on another day, we get at least 1 or 2 penalties. Onwards and upwards to the next game with hopefully an improved performance.
  6. We struggle against teams that park the bus and despite having the vast majority of possession we haven't really looked like scoring. Can only recall their keeper making one save Cash is not good enough for where we want to be. Lenglet while not particularly doing anything wrong is a serious downgrade in quality from Pau Diaby looks a shadow of the player we saw at the start of the season.
  7. Definition of a smash a grab. Absolutely awful 1st half but the changes at half time changed it. Tielemans was good when he came on and Emi made some crucial saves. We will play better and lose this season so will take these grinded out wins when we can get them!
  8. Diaby and Cash off, Tielemans and Bailey on. That should hopefully go someway to improving the system
  9. System is completely wrong. Konsa is not a right back and Cash is not a winger. Need a big 2nd half
  10. Great first half, pretty poor second half and may have been punished against better opposition. Mcginn MOTM, thought Tielemans was also very good and Bailey was bright when he came on. No suspensions for Kamara and Luiz which was vital going into Spurs after the international break. Job well done
  11. Poor, never looked like scoring. It was a typical toothless Villa performance of old that we thought were behind us. Fair play to Forrest though, their game plan worked and they defended well. Bad day at the office but still 5th and a good opportunity to make amends against Fulham at home next week
  12. I think after 30 odd years of supporting for the most part an awful aston villa, I feel like I'm hardwired to go into every game thinking we are going to lose. It's been hard getting used to the fact we're actually really good now. Given that, I'm not overly optimistic of our chances of 3 points But this is a game we should absolutely be winning. An early goal is important to quieten the crowd as they will be well up for it, and I suspect Forrest will be set up to sit back, defend and counter. If we score early, I think it could be a comfortable win. The longer it stays level the harder it'll be. I can see a game similar to Wolves, but hopefully with a narrow Villa win.
  13. Very laboured performance lacking any real spark. Wolves were so consistent with the niggling fouls which made for pretty terrible viewing. Referee was appalling. Those two chances in injury time should have been buried although I think 3 points would have flattered us
  14. Best outfield player in the squad by some distance for me. Just oozes class
  15. That was a worse performance than Newcastle for me, 3-0 flattered us. Also one of the worst performances in a Villa shirt I can remember seeing from Pau, absolutely all over the place. Very concerning, especially with Diego Carlo's injury. I'm not writing him off yet, but he needs massive improvements. Kamara's performances have really nose dived, I'd consider Dendoncker for him in the next game. Only players that can come out with any credit would be Diaby and Luiz. Just not at the races at all. Lots of work to do before Palace
  16. Will probably go down as an own goal but what a strike onto the post! Deserves a second
  17. Everton were dreadful, we won't play many, if any teams worse than that this season. We were awesome at times but it wasnt a wow performance like Newcastle at home last season. We definitely have a few more gears and feel we can play a lot better. That said, 4-0 is a great result. McGinn or Bailey MOTM. Disappoining the injury for Coutinho, he was looking pretty good and I was just thinking how useful he would be in Europe and then that happened.
  18. We won't go to many tougher places than St James Park this season. They were always going to be for it after last season and their first season in the CL for 20 years. They were better and deserved the win, however we were well in the match for most of the game, and without unforced errors, terrible finishing, and some iffy referring decisions it could have been a different story. What's more concerning is the Mings injury which looks a bad one. Add that to Buendia, as well as Moreno and Ramsey and we have 4 starting 11 players on the sidelines. All by the opening day of the season which would be a huge blow to any team in the league. Everton and Burnley next which is a good opportunity to bounce back but we will need a vast improvement on yesterday's performance.
  19. What a terrible start to the season with Buendia and now Mings looking like he has a serious injury
  20. 6am kick off here! Was hoping to watch before work, timing isn't going to work now
  21. I think there's going to be some very disappointed people next year. Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs will undoubtedly be better, and I feel Man Utd will continue to progress under Ten Haag. We were punching above our weight last season and it would take something quite exceptional to be challenging for top 4 next season, never let alone the title like some are suggesting. Emery has done a great job but he's not a miracle worker! I'd snap your hand off for Europa league qualification and a couple of good cup runs. A bit of silverware in one of the cups and 6/7th would be a fantastic season.
  22. Great first half, should have been 2 up. Second half was a bit backs against the wall but we battled well and were good value for at least a point which most couple would have taken before the game. Mings MOTM, absolutely colossal. 10 mins injury time though, absolute joke. The sort of thing you only see at Anfield or Old Trafford
  23. Dominated the game and had a few clear chances we should have buried. Another day we win that comfortably. We were totally playing the ref too! Overall a lack of quality in the final third and running out of steam regards Europe. In honesty, we were punching well above our weight even contending at this stage of the season given where we were. A big summer needed and some quality added.
