  1. Why would anyone want Houllier ? The man used to play Heskey on the left wing and bought El Hadj Diouf and Salif Diao for a total of £15 million !! He is rubbish IMO...

El Hadj Diouf is a good player IMO, he's just a hothead....Maybe he paid too much money for him, but you can't say MON didn't buy players for money then they're worth...We still have them at the club.

To be fair to Houllier, Heskey was very good at Liverpool and Diouf had been really good in france followed by a really good world cup. Diao i have no excuses for.

Just covered my Houllier bets on betfair in case he becomes DOF. hes now 4/ll

  2. The "Reo-Coker can't pass for shit" myth is one of my favourite down the Villa  Because it's entirely that of course, a myth...

Anyone who can make C.Ronaldo look remotely average has a touch of class about him. And, as highlighted by this poll, the vast majority of people agree he is a good player for us :) Not exceptional, but a good honest player with many great attributes. And I for one would have him in the team over Petrov every day of the week.

being able to make Ronaldo look average doesnt make him a good passer of the ball. And alongside make Ronaldo look average he also managed to make Albert Riera look like a world beater. More selective memory from the villa fans.

  3. It's funny that when MON was in charge alot of people on here wanted a DoF now he's gone people seem to hate the idea?? What we have to remember is that MON left most of the day to day training pitch stuff to JR and SW so the player will be used to that kind of set up? Houllier is not that bad an appointment IMO rather him than Sven or Curbs to be honest??

Add in the fact that when MON was in charge a lot of people wanted to see us take a punt on untried foreign talent. Now were looking at a manager that might its the wrong way to go.

  4. For me if we employ Houllier, what will Carew and Friedel think, both treated badly by him for previous clubs! I don't get this long term thing by appointing Houllier, will our football change, I'd say not! We need a manager who can take us forwards lol!

id say its an improvement. We'll only have two player who dont like the manager. As opposed to Davies, Reo Coker, Sidwell, Heskey, Luke Young, Beye, Bannan, Delfonso, etc, etc :winkold:

  5. Our fully fit first team should be

    -------------------------------------Friedal-----------------------------------------

    Young-------------Cuellar---------------------Dunne-------------------Warnock

    Albrighton----------Petrov--------------------Delph----------------------Young

    -----------------------------------Ireland----------------------------------------

    ------------------------------------Gabby---------------------------------------

Just whack in NRC for Delph until he's fit and ready.

I never want to see Ireland as a holding player again.

    No Dunne?

  6. If we appoint Macdonald then I await Randy requesting a refudn from the "top firm of headhunters" he has appointed as I would say that Macdonald struggles to match any of the criteria on the table, apart from being cheap and malliable

I dont think Randys justification for a refund would be that he doesnt fit the criteria. It would probably be the fact that he already works for him.

  7. ^^What?^^

A year ago we were walking round with rods protruding from our crotches at the prospect of signing VDV with some claiming he would transform us over night and be the marquee signing required to kick on and become a top four club.

Now that he's joined Spurs he's become, meh??

Great signing for Spurs, particularly if it's at the reported £8M, that I find unbelievable and if true something only ol' Harry could pull off you fancy.

not sure the credit should go to ol' Harry. Sounds like it was all Levys dealings, Harry commented that VDV was off for 18m the previous day, all of a sudden he got a call from Levy saying he was now available for 8m. Not sure many managers would have turned it down.

  8. In the past 5 weeks I've had a grand total of 4 beers. This is 2 beers at a pub and 2 cans at home (watching footy). This is down to the arrival of my now 3 week old son. My missus is going round to her mums tonight to have her hair cut by a family friend and she's arranged for me to go out for a few beers at the pub with the father in law. He's a top bloke and I'd normally jump at the opportunity, however, as I've not had a proper drink in ages and the fact I'll be up at least once in the night for a baby feed and finally I have to get up at 6 for work I really don't fancy it. Must be getting old!

yeah thats how i feel now, my lads 8 months. Every time i get an offer of a night out im always thinking id rather have an early night and catch up on some sleep and i dont really want to put up with a hangover and an unforgiving son the next day. We tend to have friends over a lot more now, usually involves food and a few drinks but makes you feel like you still have a social life and you dont spend the next day shattered. That said i got smashed on sunday night

  9. You cant just discount the rumours, when bookies slash odds like that there is always some truth behind the rumours

happens all the time, it only takes a couple of people to chuck a lot of money on it and odds get cut. Cutting odds then draws everyones attention, which entices more bets meaning that odds are cut further. I think we'd all love it to be true but it could all be caused by a simple hand shake show on the telly.

  10. If you put villa aside and look at the situation as if it was happening to one of our rivals then what would you expect to see. Take another club with 3 years of consistent top 6 finishes, qualified for europe, who has spent 120m over 4 years and challenged in domestic cups. Would we expect them to install a manager who has never managed another club before?

  11. I hate referee's and their weird idea that the rules of football change once the ball is in the area. How many pointless free kicks are given a game in the middle of the pitch for literally nothing more than a player getting themselves into trouble, before throwing themselves to the floor knowing the ref will give them a free kick.

Ref's need to man up and either play 'Penalty box rules' everywhere, leading to about 5 fouls a game and making the game flow much better; OR start dishing out 6 penalties a game to both sides playing 'Shitty running next to someone is a foul' rules.

    ----

I think Everton may give us a bit of a kicking at VP actually. If Gabby isn't fit, can't see us having a sniff.

is this the twice annual "Everton are going to win", then AG replies "No i think were going to struggle because of x" thread. I think it'll be a draw
