  1. Is this an OK place to ask about Zendaya? In the first film I felt she was the weakest actor, but then, the character didn't have much to do. In part 2 she has much more screen time, but to me, again, she's the weakest on screen presence. Admittedly it would be hard to shine amongst so many great performances, but I feel she's competent at best, but mainly she's just wooden. She has angry face and smiling face, that's kind of it. Why is she so revered? I saw Spiderman No Way Home and she was OK I guess. What has she been in where she shows more range? Any suggestions, because I'm just not getting it.

This band won a Brit Award this year:

It seems like the band members are in competition with each other. Notice me! No, look at me! Listen to me!

I remember laughing really hard when this type of music first came out.

I'm looking at other email clients.

At the risk of this becoming something for the 'tech forum', you can even use gmail as your client. I haven't used 'on computer' clients for my email for about 15 years and it's saved me a lot of ballache. I've just remembered the existence of Outlook Express - long in the dustbin.

*ballache is a Spanish garnish for baked fish**

**this may well be a lie.

    Hello all

Sorry I've been away. I've not killed myself yet.

Things were bad after the last post and have stayed that way. I've very much been struggling and really have considered doing myself in pretty regularly. I got the car filled up but that was a horrible experience and has probably harmed my relationship with my girlfriend (not in 'bad' ways, but she got to see what a mess I'm in). I've also failed to take her home for the first time in a very long time as I couldn't face getting out of the house, which has now put another strain on things. I've also visited the doctor across the road which was a nightmare and achieved very little, I've had a prescription sat at the pharmacist over the road for a week because I can't get there, and overall life feels very bad with nothing good coming. I've also had a follow up call this morning with the service I was referred to, which I still haven't actually been 'seen' by, but that call has now lead to my being referred to another, apparently more serious, service.

I stepped away from the forum for a few reasons, and I'll probably step away again after this. Partly it felt like a distraction from things. This is my only 'social' outlet, but it was also a crutch to avoid the problem. Partly I also felt like the things I'm interested in and drawn to were harming me and also pointless, making me ever more aware that the world outside of my issues is a shit show, and I was just shouting into an ether without engagement anyway. So at the lowest ebb thus far I felt I should just go.

I appreciate people reaching out and don't wish to worry anyone.

Glad to hear you're Still around. I was getting quite worried.

I sometimes wonder what would have happened if we'd entered (say) Oasis in the 90s?

Maybe Brexit wouldn't have happened. They'd have kicked us out beforehand.

Cheers, so do you just initially book a GP appoitnment?  Did a self test before and ticket loads of boxes but then I'm just worried I'll be batted off as people are like "ugh, everyone reckons they've got ADHD these days.

I already had a psychiatrist - I mentioned it to them as a possibility and they referred me, but if you're starting fresh, then it's GP first. You may encounter a GP that dismisses your concerns, in which case report them immediately and DEMAND to speak to another GP. I have no sympathy for toxic clinicians who stop learning when they leave medical school.

Adults who think they may have ADHD should talk to their health care provider. Primary care providers routinely diagnose and treat ADHD and may refer individuals to mental health professionals. If you need help starting the conversation, check out NIMH’s Tips for Talking With Your Health Care Provider fact sheet.

There will be a HUGE wait (2 yrs plus) unless you use the NHS Right to Choose route, where certain private providers can take on NHS patients, paid for by the NHS - the wait may be a couple of months instead.

Sounds familiar.  I can only get things done at the last minute under heavy pressure when it absolutely has to be done.

Always blamed myself for being lazy when it came to school/uni work and stuff but if I look back I think I was (and still am for similar things) physically/mentally unable to do it.

I feel your pain. Losing the guilt has been genuinely transformational. No more hiding and lying. No more making up excuses. No more trying at something, thinking this time it'll be different, only for the same thing to happen. No more of the resultant self loathing. I've been labelled lazy all my life and it always infuriated me, as I wasn't lazy didn't want to be. I just couldn't do the stuff. Like you, homework, uni work, then in my 'career'. Turns out it's not my fault. There were tears.

Anyway, see if you can get an assessment. Or, better still, delegate it happening to someone that doesn't procrastinate!

  9. God it's dull. Years and Years stuff often has an X factor (not the show), whether you like them or not. This is so bland. Also, from a production point of view the bass is WAY too woolly. Horrible.

  10. Procrastination is my entire life. In my case, there's a name for it - Inattentive ADHD.

It's completely controlling and dispiriting. Once I learned what was going on, I stopped blaming myself, and just that change has made my life immeasurably better. I still put things off though. Lack of dopamine or something.

How do you rebuild a building to a state that wouldn't currently pass building regulations?

Given that the crooked House was in it's crooked state because of mining subsidence, surely they'd have to do some sort of work on securing the ground before any rebuilding work?

That's the best bit though. It's the offender's problem to solve. It's going to cost them everything.

They should have been charged with fraud and had all the insurance money seized.

Well, we don't know about all the additional action being taken. This is just the council. There were 6 arrests for arson,  but the article doesn't say anything about charges. Yet. With this council action, it may be that the police will look at other aspects (criminal damage, conspiracy to do whatever), and/or that the insurance companies might take a closer look, which could in turn lead to police looking at the financial aspect too (fraud)

  13. The owners of the Crooked House are being forced to rebuild it. Nice to see arsholes fail to get away with it occasionally.

Mr Lees said the authority had "not taken this action lightly" but it was "committed to do what we can to get the Crooked House rebuilt."

  14. Never again:

Cheat on someone - coward move. Leave the relationship or deal with the issue, but don't cheat.

    Work full time. **** that.

Camping. Too many miserable drenched 'holidays' in North Wales.

Was going to mention pegging @Designer1, but what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.

    Never:

Visit Dubai. It's a poster child for so many things wrong with humanity.

Buy an Apple product. They're OK, but it's a horrible, narcissistic, gaslighting and abusive company.

I watched Colin from Accounts a few months back and enjoyed it all

My GF and I watched it and found ourselves accurately predicting what was going to happen. The acting was fine, but the show was not in any way interesting or original. Neither of us even smiled, let alone laugh. One episode was enough.

  16. I read a while back that although they've managed to jury rig Storm Shadows so the work from their existing ex Soviet jets, the missiles have to be pre programmed on the ground. Fine for static targets, but if that ship in dock moves after you've taken off, then you have to abort the mission. My understanding is that on F16’s they can be programmed/reprogrammed in flight.
