  1. I've worked in the Houses of Parliament, and there are so many subsidised bars it's difficult to stay sober half the time.

I've seen scores of MPs/Lords/well-know journalists and boradcasters pissed as farts at all times of the day and night. It's part of the culture of the place.

Some press gallery men hardly went home - worked all day, press bar/Annies Bar at night, kipped down on the floor of the office, back to work at 7am after quick squirt of deoderant.

  2. Once you have a baby your interest in things you used to do - going out drinking etc - all but disappear. I get offers to go out with mates etc for nights out, but to be honest I would rather be at home with my son, bathing him and putting him to bed for th night with a story, because that's what matters.

Ye so imagine being one of your mates - you're now considered to be a bit of a boring ****. Those of us who don't want kids can't get our heads around wanting to give up your freedom like you have - I'm with young Chindie, kids FTL.

    (For now)

And I'm perfectly happy to be a boring ****! :D

  3. I wouldn't want to give up on my personality and freedom.

I certainly don't mean this as any kind of insult but a huge amount of your posts on here revolve around how depressed and unhappy with your life you are. Why don't you want to give that up?

I meant the side of me that I'm happy with - my interests, my personality when I'm being more upbeat. I wouldn't want to sacrifice that to being singleminded on a child like I've seen people do, and seemingly going by what Laura has said I'm not alone in that.

Maybe Dundee is right, I just don't get it. I don't want to. Calling the pictures hateful was me exagerrating btw.

Congrats to anyone who has decided it's for them and I hope everything turns out well. It's just not for me, I don't think. At least not for a long while yet.

EDIT - Didn't quite come across right.

To be honest Chindie I probably had a similar attitude to you at 21. Your outlook will change, that's for certain. That's not to say you will want kids, but Iwould be prepared to bet that you will at some stage in your life.

  4. And it does turn people, in my experience, into more or less shells of who they were. Someone I knew from school recently had a baby and every time I log into Facebook it's 50 more hateful pictures of her offspring doing nothing more than being there, followed by a few statuses that may as well amount to 'OMG! Jacks breathing on his own!... OMG! Jack just gurgled!... OMG Jack just had a shit!' It's just... eurgh. Wheres the dignity gone? Wheres the independance? Wheres what made her her, gone?

To be honest you show your immaturity with this comment Chindie. And as you say, you're only 21 so that's understandable.

People with kids don't become "shells". Having a kid is the richest experience you can have in life. Frankly , most other things pale into insignificance compared to your child. When a kids comes along you kind of understand what life is all about.

Your friend is just a proud and excited new parent. At the moment little else matters to her. Describing her pictures as "hateful" is not nice.

There will plenty of time for me and my wife when he is older and more independent, to do what we want to do. At the moment what we want to do is spend as much precious time with him as possible.

Maybe one day you'll understand. You've plenty of time.

  5. I just had to bring these hilarious comments to your attention. From a Nose on another footy forum:

I honestly feel this is a dark day for Villa as a club.

On national television they've just been spanked for 88 mins by the most out-of-form team in the league.

They've had to cheat to win.

They've been exposed as a hoof ball team, as they were passed off the pitch by Birmingham.

And of course this 'victory' increases faint their hopes for a Champions League spot which they have absolutely no chance of getting

    Hollow victory

You've had one mildly unlucky decision in the past 10 years of your pitiful existence.

I don't even know whatyou're whinging about, you got a penalty, you scored it. Vidic being yellow carded was par for the course.

You're so sh*t the chances are United would have beaten you with 10 men anyway.

You've luckily won the game today. Every season you usually profited from the most penalties won out of the majority of the teams. In the 90s you stayed up ahead of Ipswich because of a late own goal on the last day of the season.

Today Dann breaks down in the warm-up, meaning we had to field a weakened side, just as Upson did 3 odd years ago and we had to play Tebily.

You're a joke of a club. You'll get nowhere near 4th and you'll all turn on MON and Randy when you've got no money in the summer and Milner goes to City.

    Enjoy it while it lasts.

    :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

  6. If Gabby hadn't have been brought down he was getting the ball. The ball was not going out of play. It was a pen.

I can't believe that all these so called professional pundits haven't even mentioned that.

Not a great performance but results are all that matters at this stage of the season and in derby games.

The fact we were fairly crap just makes it sweeter! :-)

  7. I've more or less quit since my son was born 6 months ago. It's enjoyable, but lets face it it's fackin bad for you and snouts are now nearly seven quid a packet. Seven quid! I remember when you could get 20 embassy for 75p.

  8. I thought the first half was a good entertianing open game with both side going for it, ansd we played well.

Second half we huffed and puffed, but a draw was about the right result.

Our crossing was awful. First decent cross from Young ended up in a goal. Downing needs to work on his game in the close season, he's not been good enough.

4th now all but gone, but it's been a decent season. What more could we realistically have expected.

  9. i cant really imagine how much more spectacular it could get than a run of three wins in 11 culminating in the heaviest defeat in living memory and going from the best placed team to finish fourth to odds on for seventh in less than two months - for the second season in a row.

we could go on to win the cup i know - but then again so could portsmouth but it doesnt really mean it will have been a good season for them.

Are you saying that if we won the FA Cup you wouldn't think it's been a good season?

it will have been better than portsmouths, but winning the cup and finishing 9th will be like putting a pretty candle on a cake that tastes like sh1t.

So winning our first FA Cup in over 50 years would still leave you unhappy overall?

  10. We lost in the cup final, after beating a load of shite teams to get there. It's a bit small time to still be going on about it.

It wasn't that long ago we weren't beating these shite teams. You should at least be happy that we're now beating shite teams when we're drawn against them, no?

  12. I tell you what Dundee

I am 100% right about one thing - and I am sorry no one can disagree because it is a fact

IT IS TOTALLY 100% UNACCEPTABLE FOR ANY ASTON VILLA SIDE TO LOSE 7-1 !

AND THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED

MON should be counting his lucky stars that Randy is our owner = because in the vast majority of situations and clubs - he would be looking for a job tomorrow !

I said las week - he wants to slag the fans off - its his perogative - but he better make sure his results stand up

He deserves all he gets today

I never said it was acceptable to lose 7-1. It isn't.

But these kind of knee-jerk threads are stupid. And that list is plain ludicrous.

It gives you the chance to post things in CAPITAL LETTERS though so I guess you're happy. Carry on.

  13. I see the reactionary numpties are predictably out in force tonight.

Oh yes dundee because I am supposed to be ecstatic with a 3 month slump being topped off with our worst defeat in 55 years !

You have slagged me off constantly for questioning O'Neill (however, you seem to have stopped since Christmas)

Maybe - just maybe you know - it could be that I am right you know !

How do you know I was referring to you?

You're always right Paul, always. Everyone on VT knows that.
