  1. I'm getting worried about this Mclaren thing. His name just won't go away. All the papers this morning are saying he is favourite, while reporting that Ash is on his way to man utd this week and Lerner sees no point in trying to make him stay.

If Schteve is appointed then it points to an owner and board that are becoming increasingly out of their depth and are running out of ideas as time goes on.

The new board might be nice and cuddly but in effect little has changed since the Ellis days. In fact they are too nice and cuddly. All this "must be a manager with Prem experience but we don't really like to poach any other club's manager" is nonsense, if it's true. Football is a dog-eat-dog business.

I hope Randy proves me wrong, but I'm increasingly concerned about the way the club is going. Competing for honours seems further away than ever.

  2. As students we used to piss in the sink even when it was full of dishes.

Toilet was upstairs, too far away I guess.

Pretty grim to think about it now, at the time it made perfect sense.

  3. ^ Do you think Gordon Brown related to normal people (or even mankind as a species) when he was Chancellor?? I think Osborne is a tit but attack him for his policies not for being rich, it just smacks of envy.

Multi-millionaire members of the country's elite ruling class telling us "we are all in this together" does stick in the craw somewhat.

  4. You obviously don't have kids and have never had to run a household.

    Well, no obviously.

I don't think that precludes me from coming to a quite, quite sensible conclusion - £44k is enough to survive quite, quite well, £20 a week extra.

My parents never came near earning that much in a year and raised 3 children very well. Never wanted for a thing.

£20 extra is obviously helpful for anyone. But is it absolutely necessary for a household on at least £44k a year? I severely doubt it, and if it is necessary, theres a distinct possibility in my mind that theres something wrong with how you're looking after your money.

When you have a mortgage, need to run 2 cars to keep the two adults of the household in jobs, and have to pay for food, council tax, petrol, house/life/car insurance, clothes, nappies, household maintenance then come back and tell me that £80 a month makes no difference.

People who earn £22k/a couple on £44k are not well off.

  5. Chestnut trees have been kid magnets for hundreds of years I'd imagine. Personally I don't know how anyone got past their 10th birthday in the past :rolly:

All chestnut trees are not on main roads though. This one is, as I understand it.

Kids throwing things in the tree could hit passing cars. Kids climbing up into the tree could fall into the path of oncoming traffic.

They prevented these potential outxomes by making the tree less attractive to kids.

    What's the big deal?

  6. The tree is on main road, and sounds like a magnet for schookids. One girl has already been seriously injured.

Well done to the Council for acting to make sure no other children were hurt. Protecting children from harm is a worthy use of taxpayers' money in my opinion.

  7. Called them due to some anti-social behaviour in our old street in Edinburgh a few years back, and they were straight round in a panda within a few minutes. Confiscated all the booze off the young hoolies in question and sent them off with a flea in their ear and a few on-the-spot fines.

Top copping from Lothian and Borders' finest.
