  1. What meeting? Re; the above, it's Twitter bollocks. Twitter is a mobile way of adding posts on VT or H&V. None of it is true, it's just speculation and opinion. Believe it at your peril/frustration/disappointment. Load of old tosh. If you throw enough out there, something eventually will stick. Old fist face has done a decent job anywhere he's managed. Pity he has a reputation for not hanging around. I bet he'd love to do a job for Villa. McLeish, just don't see it. Let him carry on where he is, hopefully they'll get relegated again. The comments by MM earlier on about it being between two people. I think he meant, it's between two Managers, not between PF and Randy. I'd say Moyes and **** knows. If it's between "Moyes and f*ck nose" then the other candidate has to be ...... Phil Thompson!
  2. I have absolutely no idea what you are going on about. It is however, probably somehow slating one of the best clubs and boards in the world. Wind-up bluenoses aren't welcome here. Go crawl back under your rock. I don't think he's a bluenose mate, just genuinely thick. Which in that case, 'could' make him a bluenose. The plot thickens... Or just maybe somebody very young? :winkold: Yeh young I am but you guys are **** old farts who believe your own shit go out get laid live your life Ah, the wonders of social networking. Does anyone remember the halcyon days before the world wide web was invented? Checking teletext at 8 am before going to work to see what was being said about Villa, and then checking again a few days later when another bit of gossip may have been added. It was relatively laid back and stress free, and the place to discuss Ellis's or Bendall's latest antics was down the pub with your mates. **** off you old Fart :winkold: I asked for that one!

  4. Just someone pretending to be the ITK who used to be here and is now at H&V. Just after some attention and I'm not going to give it to him. Anyone who has read MM's posts regularly will know straight away that he does not write in this juvenile style. MysteryMan is a proper gent and deserves some respect on here.
  5. It's probably been said already but Whelan has been really cute over the last couple of days. As soon as he realised that Martinez was on a list of candidates rather than being a no.1 target, he put his arm round RM's shoulder publicly while quietly squeezing his neck. His ultimatum to RM was either gamble on a job that you may well not get and burn your bridges here at Wigan, or stay with uncle Dave where your job is guaranteed. Slick and devious Dave!
  6. Martinez is on 10,000 a week at Wigan so he's hardly likely to turn down Villa if and when a job offer is made.
  7. I know a guy who flew to the states a week after triple bypass heart surgery!
  8. Judging by what the Air Transport Oracle, Aka TheTrees has said, I would conclude the answer to that be "Affirmative!" High praise indeed but, much as Macca is a top Villa boy, I thought that I would check, and I think that he may have been thrown a red herring by the handling agent at BHX. The aircraft actually went to Corsica, which is where it went when he was hiring Gerard Houllier. Sounds like Randy and our new DOF have gone for a long weekend in the sun while waiting for phonecalls. :winkold:
  9. So it was Madrid and it must be Mourinho! RM or Real Madrid as we more commonly know them will let us know in 48 hours. Is this the "Bent meltdown?" I love this speculation lark.
  10. One flew over the cuckoo's nest some time after Randy's plane left BHX. :?
  11. I want us to be nasty and horrible. We should be aiming to be one of the most hated teams in the land.... :winkold: I think VT fans might achieve that goal on our own without the aid of the club if we can keep this ammount of vitriol flowing for a couple of days! I'm going to chill with a strawberry mivvi.
  12. Unfortunately football fans, especially at our club don't have the patience for that and it worries me. We could be 10th 10 games into the season and the fans would already be on his back. Yeah, that's my worry too. I'll just continue to stick by whoever is appointed. But I'll definatly make it known that I'm happy with someone like Martinez, if he is appointed! I'd appoint him just for his flashy suits and his cheeky smile. Sounds like someone's falling in love! :winkold:
  13. Looking at Whelan's interview it appears that Villa wrote to him requesting permission to speak to RM. He was on holiday at the time and now he's back. That would indicate that he isn't our "latest" target but is someone who interests us amongst others. I would welcome his appointment if he does impress RL, but it may not be as certain as we are assuming.
  14. What other bigger job will he be holding out for?
  15. Or mad to take it on, depending what the conditions are Touchline at VP or touchline in front of 10,000 at the Dave Whelan stadium? Hmm, let me think about it. :?
  16. If Martinez wants to be a top manager then he has to be ambitious enough to grasp opportunities when they arrive. Villa is his best opportunity so far. He would be mad to turn us down if he's offered the job!
  17. The Brown's fans are more optimistic about this season. They've appointed a new relatively young and inexperienced head coach (to work with a vastly experienced president, and have some young and potentially good draft players to play alongside their vets. It's not all doom and gloom.
  18. I welcomed Houllier because I was fed up with the limited boring football that we were watching from a bunch of very highly played footballers. Whatever you think of Houllier he did try to make us play better football. I would welcome Martinez in anticipation of that technical improvement continuing. Players like Delph, Bannan, Gardner, Clark, and Albrighton are perfect for what RM will try and impement.
  19. Just seen your post Alec. A great post about a potential managerial star.
  20. Roberto Martinez believes in good football. The passing stats for Swansea under RM were phenominal for an"ordinary" team (550 passes per game av) and even Wigan managed to equal those stats on occasions. That's a "Wenger" like philosophy! If it is to be Martinez then Houlliers efforts over the last season to get Villa to be more comfortable with the ball at their feet will not have been wasted. Win, lose or draw we will watch some attractive football. That'll do for me. UTV!!!!
  21. Welcome to VT. Well said, but I wouldn't hold your breath!
  22. I blame the BBC for closing 606. :winkold:
  23. I'm sure most Villa fans are normal, decent individuals. Unfortunately we are judged these days by what we say on forums. Some of the opinions expressed on here are a gift to anyone who wants to portray Villa fans as a bunch of unpleasant yobs. Can't we treat people with a little bit more respect even if they don't happen to be our favourite characters.
  24. If Rafa was serious about a long term commitment to Villa then he could be a good appointment. Proviso being that fans would have to be patient and keep off his back (does that sound like Villa fans?) as he would need time to improve the squad and develop the players in his own inimitable fashion.
  25. Randy will state the ambition of the club with his next appointment. Will he want us competing for top 6? he will go all out to appoint moyes, top quality manager Or will he be happy with us scratching around at the bottom half of the table aiming for midtable every season under McLaren, KFC Bargain Bucket type appointment I was thinking more of whether his absolute priority is to reduce the wagebill, in which case managers like Van Gaal, Rijkaard and Benitez would be less likely to be appointed. Whether he may insist on a "coach" improving and integrating our useful young players into the first team seventeen, in which case the apparent interest in Mclaren might be explained. Whether he is looking for a manager to perform heroics with a reduced budget which would bring Martinez and Coyle into the equation. Imo Moyes would be Randy's perfect fit for the job, but DM may not be interested, and if he was he would want a healthy budget to work with.
