Exactly - he called Smith and won me some money. But since then has been wrong on this and on Belotti last summer. I think he got lucky by the looks of it!! 
 

He also said Watkins done by mid next week, but I think any of us could say that at this point. 

Looking at our current team and what starters I’m happy with, leaves me thinking we need the below new players:-

Otherwise, you are looking at Rico Henry or Antonee Robinson to challenge Targett. 

Some good suggestions here, or that Scottish guy we’re linked with. Max Aaron’s for me would be ideal as starting RB with the ability to play LB of required. 

I’ve heard done deal to Bournemouth from the guy who called Dean Smith - we’ll see. . .

Judging by the amount of people saying we need a new first choice left back, Targett isn’t rated on here.

Personally I’m happy with him as a starter, good attacking left back! Bigger problems elsewhere!

We win so many more points with Connor in the team than without him. Should have played more for me this season. We know his limitations, but the number of goals and assists he gets is vital!

I think we may get Giroud today - just a feeling 

Same source who told me we’d be getting Dean Smith has said Sturridge has flown in today to sign for 4 million. 
 

They also told me we were in for Bellotti in the summer so I’ve lost a little bit of faith, however he’s been right a couple of times before.

So if the club feels long term that a striker like Wes is the way forward, I'm surprised that the opposite of Wes is seen as the way to save our season. 

I get that we need options but the focus put on Wes in the summer and now Samatta now are two completely different styles in leading the line. 

I still think we’ll get a target man too. We needed a different type of striker to Wes even before he got injured Which Samma is. A Benteke or Silmani on loan for 6 months to cover Wes covers all bases.

Benteke to cover Wes?

Winger/inside forward? (Gaston Peireira maybe) 

So far Reina and Drinkwater in short term replacement of Heaton and McGinn seems decent business given our predicament! 
 

The Wesley replacement will be interesting - Benteke on loan could be likely.

But that just replaces what we’ve lost - it could be argued that we needed more attackers before the injuries so hope there’s at least one more. 

I think the thing with our system is, it’s just as important that the CF can be a target, hold the ball, link the midfield etc. 
 

Benteke can do that no problem. If he plays 90 minutes week in week out he’s a 1 in 3 striker which is better than we’ve had! 
 

I’d have him - who else are we realistically going to get?  

Smith has always been confident of a striker before the Man City game that would mean we could well get a signing tomorrow! 

 More goals than Wesley and in a better league 

Seems our links to Piatek are gathering pace! I know nothing about him but he has a good record!

Giroud would be an excellent bit of business. 
 

Cebu Tosun could be a good second piece of business too if we can’t get Giroud. Was an excellent player before he went to Everton. 
 

Jarrod Bowen should be the first one we go after!
