Earlier in the season after the Boro game I thought there was no way back for Bruce. He's done really well for us since then. Credit where it is due.

Thought we were good today, Ipswich obviously weren't at their best. Albert was like a show pony out there today, tricks and flicks galore.
I urge everyone to watch the extended highlights and check out the clip over the wingers head whilst he was covering at left back in the first half. The most audacious thing I've seen a villa player do in quite a while.

Thought he did good today, he really is the new Heskey (good way), but he will never get 20 a season because of this.

Tony was loving his lap of the ground before the match today. He gets it.

I can see it ending in an Anchorman style mass brawl between the 4 sets of executive board members.......probably in the bullring.
No touching of the hair or face.

Bruce doesn't win pretty, and definitely not convincingly and probably never will. That said our form is really good in terms of results. Long may this continue.

I think we are going up. Don’t know if that’s automatic or playoffs but I think it is going to happen. Just a feeling.
I sometimes feel this. I always have a nervous feeling that we are riding a wave of good form that will crash down at any moment. But as time goes by and we continue to win more games than not, I am starting to believe that for the first time in years we are organised and half-decent.

Nightmare that they have the new manager in place. On paper a 3-0 last week, not sure now.
-
Model professional. Fell out of the side, didn't moan, worked hard and got back in. Very likeable guy, and a top player at this level.

I think if this guy was played/used correctly under a manager that has a clue we would see this guy bang many more goals in than he has so far.
I like Hogan, I really hope he comes good - but the more time passes, the more I think this widely held belief about the teams playing style is a myth.

If we win promotion with Bruce, do we cut him loose at end of season?
Would be barbaric, but probably not beyond the realms of possibility.
-
My favourite player for us. Top professional and a very decent player. Can tell he enjoys playing for the side.
Would do a job for us in the Premier League too.
-
If he could add more goals to his name, he will fill a long term Benteke sized whole in our team. Amazing to think how good he's been given his age and rapid development.
-
Not McGrath, but it really is a privilege to see him in a villa kit.

sure
however 4pts from 12 possible would not
not even 5pts
7pts now your beginning to talk
9pts would have been „now you‘re talking“
All the time we are out of the top 2 (top6 aswell) and our ppg ave is lower than 2, we need to win home & away against nearly every team below us and GAIN some pts when we play those teams around and above us.
I share the frustration and the feeling of nearly being there, but it is 19pts from 24 possible if we win tonight. If we replicate that for the season we will win the league.

We need to stop saying that if we want to get promoted. Because you can make the case for at least half the teams being decent. We should be aiming to beat everyone apart from the top 2 or 3 who should be our rivals.
I should have put this in to context, I would have said this before today's game, but now feel we must win.

On that basis, a point at Preston will be fine then too as we are away and they are a decent side?
I would have said that before today to be honest.
-
Not a terrible result. Means we need to win at Preston now if we have automatic promotion aspirations.

They will want this type of aggression. We can't get sucked in to it!
I think we will beat them 2-0 because end of the day. They are s**t!
Exactly this, I worry they will target Kodj and provoke a red card for us. We need to be calm and professional.

I'm nervous about our next two games. A derby is a knife edge game, and Preston are a difficult side to play.
Despite winning 5 from 6 I just don't ever feel confident. Nothing to do with the players or manager, it's the feeling of the inevitable hurt that comes from being a villa fan.

A painfully limited player.
For real? In the championship he's doing plenty well enough for us.

I think obviously the Blues game is important, but the Preston game will give us a good indication of where we are looking at for the season.
cannot fault the form of the team currently, playing 70% of potential and winning 5 out of 6

I reckon Tony is worth exactly 1 tube of pringles, 1 bottle of home made sloe gin and 24 lychee flavoured yogurts.
That's about as accurate as anyone else's figure I've seen.
Which size Pringle tube?

So with a quarter of the season gone, if you run that forwards we would be 20 points off second place?
We have 34 games remaining, if we repeat the form of the last 5 games we end up with 103pts. It's the same terrible logic.

I kind of like that he is obviously still very ambitious, but not saying stuff like we will be the worlds best again.
The stadium plans sound interesting, seems like they are planning a complete rebuild.
