The last three games this guy has been playing out of his skin. The assist for Hogan last night was pinpoint. I have particularly enjoyed reading the opposition forum’s reactions to his drawing of fouls. Top guy, hope he stays whatever happens.

Good stuff tonight, really got a steel about us. Bruce has weaknesses as a manager, but defensive assuredness is not one of them. We are more organised than we have been for 4 years.

I think the official twitter said that Terry rolled his ankle in training, so I would expect to see:
Johnstone
Elmo Chester Elphick Hutton
Jedi (if fit, GW if not )
Snoddy Hourihane Grealish Adomah
Hogan
Come on you Villa boys!
I think that side minus Terry and Kodjia is perhaps the strongest XI we have on paper. I would like to see that side press for a win today.
-
You just know Bruce is gunna do something daft like a three cb formation here to accommodate Terry and Elphick alongside Chester.
Im wary of this fixture, hopefully a case of ‘after the Lord Mayor’s show’ for Forest.

I get the impression word got to Tony that fans were uneasy at his previous tweet.
I like the more irregular updates he provides now, they carry a bit more weight when he posts - whilst they are still regular enough to not leave us thinking he’s doing a Lerner.
-
I hope Tony hasn’t lost faith. Couldn’t blame him if so.

Are we also looking at Chris Crosser, Tommy Tackler and Steve Saver.
Agree we should, I think we are okay for keepers though.
in seriousness I think we would be set with an experienced striker to help us out, otherwise I don’t see much desperate need for loans.
-
Young Irish striker called Gary Goals looking for a club, guarantees goals. We need to promise him game time though. Probably need him judging by our back up strikers performances.

I’m genuinely not bothered about today’s result. A replay was the scenario I feared. Win next week and all forgotten.

Will never forgive how he damaged the club at key points of his tenure, and his random Trump-esque claims are often farcical, but I don’t doubt he loves the club. Happy birthday Doug.

Pleased for his goal, and feel it could be the start of a run. He looked really hungry yesterday.
I may well have been premature in my judgment of him.

Yeah, the only negative thing about today was booing Nathan Baker.. that lacked class.
Did that happen before his heavy tackles or after? I’d be annoyed if before, he was a good pro for us.

Bruce seems to always get a result when he is on the verge. If we continue to win after this result, then we cannot complain.
Well done today Steve. I’m not fully convinced you are the man for the required job, but I’m more convinced than I was at 2pm today.

I know it’s raw after watching a game, but I just feel like we are treading through super glue. We are a nearly Team. I feel it’s time to change.

Yeah, should have scored from at least one of aimless 50 yard punts into the corner flag
I agree service is poor, but 1goal in 12 months is very poor by anyone’s standards.

He’s just not that good is he?

Question for the good Dr... did you buy villa with the true intentions o rebuild the club and make us great again as previously claimed or did you actually just buy the club with the intention to work your way in with council so you were at the forefront of redevelopment of the city ? Because that is the rumour I've been told at a recent football conference. Don't really believe it and I have faith he is a man of his word.. time will tell..
Be interesting though when the accounts are filed how much the dr has put in and how much has been parachute payments etc.
In fairness to Tony he always said that Villa was part of Recon’s plans. I suspect a hugely successful villa would compliment his Birmingham redevelopment plans better than a failing one. Tony must have invested a sizeable amount of cash in fairness - we were a financial blackhole before relegation.

What I can't get my head around is how a french club in a very poor league can spend 300m on one player while we're not even allowed to buy a pot to piss in.
Technically Neymar was also a free transfer, he bought himself out of his contract with Barcelona (albeit with Qatari cash).

Chester is OK a this, but Samba is terrible with the ball and apparently Johnstone's distribution was horrific yesterday.
Think you’re right, Terry is great with his feet and our whole build up has suffered for it. Johnstones distribution was awful but that was mainly because he had to resort to punting forward for Davis.

Just a note for those of us travelling by train tomorrow, especially from the west country. Crosscountry trains have strike action tomorrow so there’s a really disrupted service beyond Bristol.

Stan Petrov was the first I have a feeling.

What a player he has been for us over the last two seasons. Such a classy centre half.

I have no doubts in my mind this team is better than the one that was relegated. If they were to play a competitive match sherwoods team that year vs bruces team now. Bruce wins the game and i tjink fairly comfortably
I tend to agree. We really were a shambles. I never really bought into the losing culture thing that Bruce talked about, but it is true. I just get the impression that a loss to the current side would hurt them. Sheff Weds match case in point - we bounced back strongly.

I like now we are challenging, but my goodness it makes you realise we were so poor under Lerner. It was like a nightmare watching some games. We were literally a truly shocking premiership footballing team. The tactics, style was like we had no idea. Benteke was a shining light, the rest of the seasons were absolute woeful. Hopefully we have seen the back of that.
Do you think we are a better side now than we were 3 years ago? Genuine question, I've been thinking about this for a week or two now.

Terrible news. A real pioneer in the changing times of football, and a real ambassador for the midlands.
Thanks Cyrille.
