We'll always struggle to control games against the better sides with McGinn in the midfield.

    Except Arsenal. And Man City.

    But other than them..

Made the trip to Bristol yesterday to see Yard Act at the O2 Academy.

Supported by the surprisingly good Gustaf, a five piece (four girls, one guy) Brooklyn band who were the perfect foil for the headliner. They all looked like they were thoroughly enjoying themselves, especially the percussionist who utilised anything for bells, tins, voice modulator and a variety of squeeze dog toys!

I’ve seen Yard Act before and was interested to see how there new more ‘danceable’ sound transposed live. They were absolutely phenomenal with the new stuff seamlessly fitting in with older tracks.

The band clearly had a great night too and the capacity crowd were well up for it too!

Took my 17yr old lad who, to date was happy standing a little back or to the side to watch gigs. This time we were front and centre in the bouncing throng!

No doubt I’d definitely watch them again!

Pretty sure Man City drew with Brighton and lost to Brentford last season when they had nothing to play for.

That's true, though they did still have the CL final to consider which may have made the players hold back

He is a very good player and I’m sure his form will return. There is a slight worry that he doesn’t seem to play all that well alongside anybody other than Kamara..

I don't think it's specifically Kamara, it's more that he plays better alongside a specialist DM. At the momen he's trying to play a role that doesn't suit him as well.

  5. A drop in form at points of the season happens to most players. It's normal.

I'm not worried by Doug's form, which will improve, or his ability, which is excellent. I do worry about his mentality though, he seems to get petulant and childlike on the pitch way too quickly

I should probably know this but it’s been so long, when have we last finished in the top 5?

I know I could Google it, but it’s also a nice point to share with you all as I ponder it.

    Under Little wasn't it? '96?

    Hull got Plymouth last game...

So best result tonight would be a Hull win, so they can still catch Norwich on the final day thus make Norwich take it seriously. Second best would be a loss so that the game is a dead rubber against Plymouth.

No doubt it'll be a draw then

After years of embarrassment, Unai has taken us back to the level where we command respect again.

I bet there isn't one among us whose first thought on seeing that looks at the table and doesn't get upset at where half of Man Utds points came from

Gerrard signed him and so some people will always criticise him and the money he’s on

I don't think that's it at all. Gerrard signed Kamara on big money and he doesn't get criticism as a result.

It's just a self feeding joke, along the lines of 'why didn't Barry take the penalty?' and 'can we loan Janjuzaj?'

The joke is separate to the player, who the vast majority of Villa fans are very happy with, I'm sure.

If we don’t make Champions League it will obviously be disappointing after coming so close but it is what it is.  We’ll just have to win the Europa next season instead.

The most important thing is to keep qualifying for a European competition as it helps in building and maintaining a squad. It would be cracking to qualify for CL but it's not the magic bullet that some feel it is. Hopefully we'll get fourth and all will be good but if we don't then it will still be a major achievement by the boys

Werner is fast, relatively useful on the ball, but he couldn't hit a donkey's arse with a banjo. I'd rather play Morgan Rogers or Duran and let them reach their potential.

Both of whom belong to us and are already more effective PL players

We will finish 5th and that will easily be enough. It won't even be close on the coefficient.

We will be in CL next season barring an absolutely ridiculous set of results that just won't happen.

Then, next season, we'll lose all our games in the CL and finish about 11th in the league

    Sweet dreams, don't have nightmares
