  1. I’m glad he mentioned the 3 crosses, criminal defending. Love the bloke but no idea why Zaniolo was his first sub, he also should have rolled the dice and threw on subs when we scored the 3rd, instead they sat back down.

Yeah a huge miss.  Doug just has so much more workload and it's taken its toll.

Doug needs to keep things simple again.

Calling out his team mates in that interview.

Saying the team lacks maturity and game intelligence

No problem with this. Wish more players would do it.

Yeah needs the rest, I doubt he would be the game changer against Arsenal.

It’s indefensible imo. The cards reset after today’s game. He can rest after the end of the season. He’s more stupid than McGinn, hope he gets the maximum fine he can get.

  5. He hasn’t been great since Kamara got injured. He's also gone back to messing about on the ball too much, he infuriated me today along with most of the team to be fair. He should be fined as much as a player can be for the booking. I said the same about McGinn but this is even more stupid imo.

  6. Hopefully if he does get a booking he does what Fabian Delph did when he got to 10 bookings, he got another yellow late on in the same game. He got a red that meant he only missed one game instead of 2.

Jacob Tanswell was on the Athletic podcast earlier and talked about our PSR position:

The relevant bit is from 25:36, and he says:

'The PSR elephant in the room has been there throughout the season and it's looming now before June 30th and the end of the financial year. It's going to be difficult - obviously Douglas Luiz is one of Villa's biggest assets, he's got a good contract left, everybody expected him to leave in 2022 when Arsenal came in with several offers. Villa even signed Morgan Sanson to replace him, as it turns out Sanson's now gone, Douglas Luiz is still there. He's one of those players that Villa fear or think they will have to move on simply to comply with PSR, similar to Jacob Ramsey, obviously you saw Newcastle were interested in him towards the end of the winter window, obviously not sure if that would be the case now but he's one of those players that would be open or would ease PSR concerns because he's pure bookable profit, it would be around fifty million and that's essentially what Villa are needing by June 30th to comply with PSR regulations. But you look at the wage bill as well I mentioned earlier they've got a really high wage-turnover ratio, they're gonna have to sell the likes of Lucas Digne who's Villa's best-performing left-back this season instead of Moreno because he's on £120,000 per week, Moreno's on a lot less than that . . . uhm . . . they've got to look at other high earners as well, but also keep Emery happy.'

I stopped reading at Morgan Sanson. At least get your facts right ffs

Can't see this Chelsea team doing much v Spurs anyway, they got very lucky in the end.

So we need to continue winning in the league and in europe until 5th is 100% confirmed as good enough for CL whenever that will be.

Spurs could certainly win at Newcastle and Chelsea in the run in so in that scenario we'd likely need 72/73 points I think.

It’s a Derby and Chelsea’s record against Spurs is very, very good!

Don’t get me wrong I get why he’s rested them, annoys me taking a half day off work  and travelling to Manchester to watch a half arsed team run after shadows though. Win the next two games and it’s justified, feels slightly MON/Moscow to me though.

I get that mate but Manchester is hardly Moscow 😉

Annoys me as with a lot of injuries we’ve then gone ahead and rested some of our most important players in Torres, Tielemans and Bailey. Maybe Emery knows best and they needed resting but it feels very much like a game thrown away to me.

We are all annoyed we’ve lost mate but we still potentially have 13 games to play this season. We are going to need the whole squad if we do play 13. Out of all the remaining games tonight was most likely always going to be the most difficult. It’s annoying but I get why players were rested and got some minutes in to players who might be needed further down the line.

Rodgers, as every game so far he’s started he’s looked lively 1st half, 2nd half looks knackered come 60mins in

Surely you start Rodgers then based on that and bring Zaniolo on for him?

  12. I expected Spurs to beat West Ham and us to lose tonight irrespective of team. Hopefully City go on their usual end of season winning run now as we will need them to be in a position where they have to beat Spurs. The date for that game hasn’t been arranged yet, which could work against us if it’s played in the last week of the season with City having nothing to play for.

Did alright tonight, apart from the obvious goal from the wall, hopefully starts sat against Brentford

With McGinn back who are you starting him ahead of?

At this point, just a rehearsal for his next club.

Hope he grabs one more important goal.

We've had a lot worse loans and a lot worse permanent signings than Zaniolo so hope he doesn't get too much grief at the end of the day.

He’s been a poor signing, fans used to moan about El Ghazi and Trezeguet not being good enough. They were miles better than this bloke. I would imagine outside of Coutinho he is the most expensive loan signing we’ve ever made.

Spurs run in is not significantly easier than ours.

We each have to play Liverpool/City/Arsenal/Chelsea

Differences are we play Brentford, Bournemouth, Brighton, and Palace

They play Forest, Burnley, Sheffield, Newcastle, and Palace

Their games against Forest and Burnley probably aren’t going to be as easy as they might have been 2 weeks ago.
