  1. PR for praliament, think not ..

Eh?? He invented the so-called "Pop Idol" Politics, based on spin and bullshit!

Nick. There is a difference between Poportional Representation and "Public Relations".

I think you may be confusing the two ....

Think I have got my wires crossed here... whoops, and I do know the difference now I know the topic!

  2. I didn't say they can't or should Mich, I said in the UK, it works, it's not undemocratic, I find it very good (even if I don't like the current government, they were elected democratically), the Royal are excellent embassadors.. Why is that so difficult to understand, I really don't think a president would have the same international image, you really don't see global protests when the Royals travel, as you do with the US/French, etc presidents

  3. So, when being honest, you don't really want the people to decide their head of state because "we would have every chance of a Dubya". In other words, when being honest you're not really a democrat? That's fine, I suppose, I certainly don't agree with it but famous philosophers like Thomas Hobbes did and he was probably a more clever man that me.

Not entirely true, I am all in favour of a democratically elected government, for that I call myself a democrat, as far as the UK goes, I agree with the current system for our head of state. I class myself as a democrat, because the people that make the decisions are the ones I voted for.. QED.

Maiden, I believe they still have the highest ever live gate, when they played Long Beach.

Eh ? Long Beach Arena isn't very big. 20k tops

It was actually the beach they played, if I recall correctly!

  5. But the fact of the matter it's not a simple yes or no.... in the UK, the Head of State/Head of the Commonwealth, etc, effectively would never use the power enabled to them, they are good for international relations.

And to be honest, if the head of state was given to public vote, we would have every chance of a Dubya, I prefer our methodolgy thanks very much Bill.

  6. the royalists on here still have no answered how it can be right in modern times for someone to be in a position of some power and defintely influence by virtue of brith and circumstances

Yes they have, you really ignore posts you don't want to read, don't you!

  7. Nope, he doesn't, but he would say, like himself, he wouldn't be on a list with Clapton, Hendrix, Van Halen, Page and Vaughan!

And by the way I would know this, considering, I travelled through South East Asia with his son!

Ok, that's not bad mouthing him, my fault. And Hendrix I can agree on, and so would Brian, I'm sure of that. But Clapton, van Halen and Page? They weren't ahead of Brian, never in a million years.

Agree to disagree... Brian May, as nice a bloke as he is, never did anything innoventive unlike the rest of the list (Knofler excluded) he was a good pop guitarist, maybe even the bext "Pop" Guitarist, nowhere near one of the best in the world, not even in the top 30!
