I split my foreskin once having sex.

Pissing for weeks afterwards was painful, I don’t recommend it.

Likewise. I remember eating and drinking as little as possible to minimise the numbers of times I'd have to go to the toilet.

The incident itself I don't remember as being very painful, but that may have been to do with how drunk I was.

  2. Our lockdown starts at midnight. This morning I've seen 7* different buses going to different weddings, plus various cars and jeeps, because obviously today it's totally safe to have massive parties, with guaranteed zero social distancing and masks almost certainly coming off for photos, dancing and after a few drinks.

It's hard not to feel a lot of Nepal's problems are not self-inflicted.

*I've only been outside twice, once to buy water and once for groceries (I can't carry both at the same time), probably for no more than 25 minutes in total. How many more buses have there been the rest of the morning?

Need some advice on how to build my stamina back.  I've been doing the C25K but had a week off after my 1st covid jab kicked my arse.  Previously I'd gotten up to 25 mins (i know it's not a lot compared to most of you!) but now I'm struggling to get much over 15 mins.   I've thought about don't a week of shorter runs starting at 15 mins then building up by 90 seconds a day.  Do you think that might help or is there something else I can be doing to help regain my stamina?

Just take your time. Go back the last week in C25K that has something around 15 minutes as the longest run and start from there.

It's frustrating but it's normal. Through the last 2 months I've lost loads of running, to 2 lots of food poisoning and severe pollution. I've always gone backwards after these but I just run what I can afterwards and the fitness comes back quickly enough. Now I've got lockdown and I'm not sure outdoor running will be allowed, so loads of indoor strength work, cardio and maybe try some yoga for me.

  4. Back into lockdown from Friday for me. I know it's totally needed and I was first in line to complain when the authorities were doing nothing, but that doesn't make me dread it any less.

Edit: the news I read was incomplete, it's only a partial lockdown. I can still escape the house for my runs and keep my sanity.

I know the numbers of infections in India are high, 330k reported today, but they have a population of 1.4 billion so 20x that of UK. Even 500k infections a day in India is only the equivalent to 25k here. At its worst in UK we were getting 60k+ infections a day.

Really do feel for those in India though as seems the hospitals have become overwhelmed and there is a shortage of oxygen.

It's not just the numbers but the serious lack of health infrastructure. There are also issues now about access to and availability of testing, so actual cases are likely much higher.

I'm next door in Nepal, 40km away from the open border and feeling very nervous right now.

Good news is that it turned up at about 7.45 PM.  Bad news is that the box was huge and completely unnecessary.   Why do Amazon in particular feel the need to send small items in large boxes?

I don't remember where I heard this so it could be BS but I think it's to do with packing in the delivery truck in the most efficient way. Basically picking the right Tetris piece.

Very rarely post on Facebook so not very savvy on it but  ... a good mate and Villa Supporter for some 50 odd years got a 'yellow card' for one of his posts. The post referred to "faggots and peas"  - a well known Black Country dish. Presumably , FB disliked 'Faggot'; my mates politics are slightly to the left of Tony Benn so Political Correctness is quite important to him. This seems madness to me.

Yet when you report a blatantly sexist or racist post Facebook always comes back with 'did not violate our acceptable use policy'. Utterly useless.

The Flight Attendant was marvellously bonkers. Pacy and entertaining, it's slickly done, and Kaley Cuoco is terrific, it was a victim of it's own pacy style though as towards the end I'd have liked another episode to connect up some of the events

      Reveal hidden contents

particularly after the rock bottom episode which I thought was done really well but in a more in depth show you'd give the character a more plausible amount of time to cope with all that trauma, and have various conversations etc

Yeah I was pleasantly surprised by this one. Couldn't help associating Kaley Cuoco with the Big Bang Theory but this is very much not that. Looking forward to a second series.

King of the Mountain by default is still King of the Mountain!

Have you tried the AllTrails app? I did a search and Nepal is on its list of "supported countries", but I don't entirely know how their local and regional catalogues are built—whether they're based on global mapping or user input. It might be worth a shot.

Yeah, it's got a few trails in the tourist areas but nothing near me. But I've been exploring here for 3 years so I know the trails pretty well and the general area well enough to explore with reasonable confidence. Only been scarily lost once so far!

Nice! I'll be adding you on Strava. There've got to be some fantastic routes where you are!

There are, although Strava doesn't help me find them as I'm about the only person using it locally. At least I'm top of all the segments I've created around here 😝

Anyone use the subscription version of Strava? I know @JamieZ is on it.  Currently using the free version.  Whats the subscription version like and is it worth upgrading? Guess the best thing to do is try the months trial, but just looking for info from people who already have it.

If you are using something like Garmin you won't get really get anything different from Strava in terms of run data. The main thing would be seeing where you are in leader boards by age, weight etc instead of just overall. I think the routes has additional features as well if you are looking for new places to run, but it depends if there is much in your area.

Gutted.  Just tried my first 25 min run without a break. Think I managed just over 20 and had to walk for a few mins.  I knew I'd started too quickly when I'd gone further than I expected after the first 5 mins,  tried slowing down but the damage was done.  Reckon its Villas fault after that victory,  the adrenaline was still pumping!

No reason to be gutted. 20 minutes is huge from where you started a few short weeks ago. If you are really unhappy with it, repeat the week again next week.

I struggled my way through C25K 11 years ago, repeated loads of weeks and failed loads of runs. Now I'm running marathons and ultras. Missing your 25 minutes by a small margin is nothing in the grand scheme of it and all part of the process.

I managed to bounce back super quick and get 3rd place (1st vet) at Southampton Half last weekend. Certainly has helped with confidence and to motivate me to make sure it doesn’t happen again in Chicago.

Yep, I've come to the conclusion that the occasional DNF is a good thing for training.

    Congrats on a great result!

I had my first DNF during VLM today, I’ve not had the best winter/spring but decided to give it a go and basically went all a bit dizzy at 11 miles and gave up at 14 as felt proper rough, ended with me in the medical tent for an hour. Draw a line under it and Hopefully be back to racing soon. Have Chicago later in the year so will try and get a proper training block in for it.

Had my first DNF back in Feb. Nothing you can do sometimes, in my case a dodgy stomach (3 toilet stops inside 10k, including one in the woods 💩) stopped play. But next run back I took my than two hours of my best 50k time, albeit on an easier trail. I think a DNF is great motivation for better training.

Seems VT has stopped running, or at least stopped talking about it.

Everyone getting fat for Christmas and starting again in January? That's exactly what I'm doing.

I've pretty much lost my interest in football so no checked this site too often, but still very much running. On track to hit 3000k by the end of the year.

Ran (or least ran, walked and hiked) 50km at Annapurna 100 race at the end of October. Seriously tough but the views, wow. Next race not until February though:(

    What watches/shoes does everyone prefer/trust?

Watch I use Garmin Forerunner 30. Pretty cheap and does the job for 99.9% of my runs, although the battery isn't enough for the ultras.

Shoes are the one thing I spend a lot of money on. I used to think they didn't make a lot of difference but changed my view after getting properly assessed and into the right pair of shoes. Currently Saucony Ride 10 for the road and either Saucony Perrigne 8 or Salomon Elevate XA for the trails. Got a pair of On Cloudflash on the way that I'm seriously excited for as I loved my Cloudventure Peaks until the tread started falling off.

  16. Another marathon in Seoul for me yesterday. Seriously hot so I've got some interesting tan (well, burn) lines today. Really struggled in the last 10km but just about managed to hold on and finish in under 4 hours.

  17. That picture was taken shortly after I reached the bottom of hill and before turning around. I looked a lot less fresh by the time I reached the top! The last 2k was tough, but on tarmac is wasn't too much to keep a steady 5:30per/km pace. Would have been walking if it was trail!

We need a solid partner for Chester and having Elphick plus someone like Tuanzebe can be good

A lot of posters seem to think Tuanzebe will be a good option at CB. I saw very little of him last season as I only managed to watch a handful of games (9 hour time difference), and that little was not impressive. So I'm genuinely curious, what attributes does he possess to make so many people think he's a good option?

Out of interest should Chris Hughton have been sacked when Brighton finished 3rd and didn't get promoted? Should he have taken the blame for finishing 20th the season before when he came in halfway through the season?

Should Jokanovic be to blame for Fulham finishing 20th in his first season when he came in late? Should he have been sacked for making the playoffs and not being promoted the next season?

Should Wagner have been sacked for finishing 19th when he came late...no.

    And so on.

There are now promoted teams who have been through exactly the kind of progress we've seen in the last two seasons.

For me, all of those managers got squads promoted that on paper probably didn't look good enough for promotion. They made teams more than the sum of their parts. Bruce has done the opposite, he's taken a squad that looks great on paper and a shoo-in for promotion but most games they look far less than the sum of parts.

Credit for sorting out morale and no question for me the single biggest issue that needed sorting out was the toxic atmosphere. He's done that and deserves enormous credit for it, but I struggle to see him taking us any further, especially with less resources.

I would have love doing terry to stay but no getting out of it he is 38 I don’t think he will get as many games as this year next season.

There is no question that he is in the decline stage of his career and will almost certainly play less games each season that he continues. That doesn't mean he wouldn't be good enough for us next season, but each season the risk to his club increases. If we had have signed Terry again, we would have needed more cover than we will signing a younger center back which in our financial situation has got to count against us making him an offer.
