Sorry, but this is exactly the kind of thinking that limits us! The fact that nobody else cares does not stop it from being true. Nobody cares about any other football club apart from the one they support. We are still a massive club and you should never underestimate that. If we, Villa fans, do not believe in our club then how can we expect anybody else to. Liverpool fans have not won the league for three million years but they still think they are the biggest and best club in the World. Therein lies their strength.

I don’t think Bruce was a safe option. I have never thought he was worthy of managing our fantastic club. Bruce was another manager who had never proven himself capable or worthy of managing a club like ours. Not surprising then that he too has failed. He was slightly more worthy than Smith but not much! Think small and you will never progress beyond an acorn! Think big and the World is your oyster! I always wanted to be an oak. I am a massive fu**ing oak. Be an oak with me and think bigger than Dean Smith.

This is such nonsense though, Liverpools strength is not that they are deluded its actually one of their worst qualities and why they are so hated. Theres a difference between dreaming big and being totally deluded. I get the point you are trying to make but its a very naive one.

I really feel the need to challenge this. We are Aston Villa. Founder members of the league. European Cup winners. Until 2 years ago, premier league ever presents. We have massive support, wealthy owners, a brilliant stadium and huge expectations. What has Dean Smith ever done to suggest that he should get a chance? We really should be aiming much, much higher than this. We need somebody big enough to take on the challenge. Dean Smith would be a massive risk. Why take the risk?

Sorry but this is exactly the kind of thinking that limits us, none of that means anything in reality, literally nobody but us cares that we won a European cup 36 years ago. We don't need a big name manager at all, Bruce was seen as a safe option and look how that has turned out.

  3. Somehow hes got us into a position where we have 1 specialist recognised CB in the squad and a back 4 where 1 player is in his natural position. No wonder its a **** disaster. Yea you can go now Bruce as far as im concerned, almost 2 years later and we have just gone backwards.

Unacceptable start to the season, we'll see now if the new owners really mean business.

Once again people literally ignoring the fact he COACHED at Arsenal, who aren't too shabby in the football department. I think it's a case of seeing what you want to see.

But he was saying we dont know what type of football he would play so what has a coaching role somewhere got to do with that, we still wouldn't know.

Also did he ever even actually coach at Arsenal?

Looking forward to when Mendez claims his money, i.e. on the repeated sale of all those players happy to be paid £20k a week for the simple and pure love of Wolverhampton. I'd say they were the next Saints but they aint even that well prepared.

Their owner is stinking rich, i really dont think money will be any sort of issue anytime soon unless he gets bored and wants out.

Just like Xia did two years ago...

Two massively succesful billionaires that can be traced and tracked over a chancer that nobody had any idea was worth, its very different i dont see how you could compare the 2.

  7. Are we doing the whole 'hes about to be sold so hes overrated' thing? :D

He was one of the top 5 CB's in the league last year everyone would agree surely? Got his downsides like anyone else but we'd be less of a team to lose him, especially to bloody stoke. Selling our best players to Stoke ffs.

    Where are you seeing this?

If we are getting good money for them and providing we are lining up better replacements then why not..

Still interested to see where though.

Twitter has a lot of people saying Chester is very close and Adomah is just interest. Also a lot of people saying it doesn't matter how rich our new owners are FFP still has to be be dealt with and you cant just throw money at it so player sales could still be needed.

FFP has me furious the more i think about it too, cripple clubs in the EFL but clubs in the prem can just guy the league what a joke.

Until these new chaps arrived.. then yes, very much so.

They nearly had Jack packing his bags.

    All is now well.

Im still seeing Chester and Adomah close to going to Stoke though, i still think were in for a rough season. Theres no way Chester actually wants to go to Stoke ffs.

  10. From what ive seen though it does look like we are planning on giving him a new deal? Have to say after all the abuse he got during the mcleish years and the whole bomb squad thing the way he fought back into the team i wouldn't mind him being given another year.
