  1. Just got back from watching this. Probably late on it, but it was something else. I liked it, good acting, but very different. Thought from the trailer that it would be more like In Bruges, but it really wasn't. 7.5, I'd say.

didn't Arsenal get a load of luck at Villa Park too....that should have been 2-2.

what might have been is for the fairies......In terms of goal scoring opportunities, we deserved it.

Defending is a huge part of the game, not a bolt on additional option.......we deserved it.

I agree with a lot of that, but I also think we rode our luck a little untill 2-0. Sure, we could've scored two more goals and missed chances are part of the game. But in the end we won because we scored two goals, just like they did at VP. So, I'm happy clappy. And don't get me started on the arsenal game. I'm still fuming about that one. Especially how so many pundits and experts said how great that shot was when in fact it was the luckiest shot I've seen in 37 years.

  3. After the game I was thinking that we rode our luck a little and that maybe our win wasn't very fair. Then I remembered the game at VP. F**k fair wins, I always take a disputable win, especially against them. And they might be in trouble. They seem to have an owner who knows less about owning a football club than our not so beloved doctor and with all the expensive players they've signed, if they don't reacj Europe they might need to seel a fair few of them for a loss.

Anyway, around 91st minute I started to believe that we wouldn't lose, around 93rd I started to believe that we'd actually win. Even if they're under performing a 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge is always a good achievement.

SJM got my motm. I can hold my hand up and say I doubted he'd fit into an Emery team. I don't anymore.

Normally I'd expect us to lose against leicester now that we seem to be going places. I've got more belief now.

Oh, and I think I'm falling in love with a spaniard looking like a poor Dracula cast.

No idea what you're referring to my old Scando chum.

It can't be Star Boreszzzzzzzzzzz though.

More about how I referred to the games that I like that the new one is bigger and the worst thing with the first game was that it was too short and, well, you know what I mean. :)

Allegedly it will require 130gb of storage - that’s one big game!

it looks awesome and my lad has just bought a PS5 with this game in mind.

That means I will have to do some cleaning up on my disc. If that is the right words, but I think you know what I mean. :P I really look forward to this game, and even more so now that it seems to be a bigger game than the last one. If I had any objection to that one it was a bit too short. Damn, no matter how I put it I make it sound like a dialogue from one of @rjw63's favourite films. :)

  6. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is said to be released April 28th. I hope it's true. This is the first game I've ever waited for, really. I mean, I started to play PS4 rather late, 8 years ago, and when I discovered Uncharted they had already released all 4 games plus Legacy, RDRII was the first one for me, and so on. And now I have had my PS4 stored for almost 3 months waiting for our house to be finished so we can move in and I can create my own man cave. :) Anyway, loved Fallen Order and I'm really looking forward to this. Released before a long weekend means I might finish it in a couple of days, though.

  7. I thought we played rather well. We were definetely in control for large parts of the game and played some really good football. The one concerning thing is our lack of good chances. I don't think we create enough good chances atm. Good enough to win a game like this, but against better teams we need to create more.

On a more positive note we look so much harder to break down. We defend really well most of the time. We only looked a little lost for about 5 or 10 minutes and that's when they "scored". Those who say it was wrong to disallow that goal clearly haven't been treaded on the ankle with a football shoe with studs. It can hurt as...

I can't agree that they were robbed. They were second best for most of the game.

Martinez motm for me, but no one really stood out. They were all rather good. I'm encouraged by the performaces from Moreno so far. He hasn't been great, but he's been thrown in to play almost as soon as he got here and is still learning the club, his team mates, the league and the pace of the league and I think he's improving. Once he's settled I think he will be a handfull.

Now two weeks without football. I hate going out early in the cup.

  8. It's a shame he never fullfilled his potential with us, but I guess we didn't really played to his strengths. A good striker, but not for us, really. My only worry is if we get another one in as we're pretty thin in that department right now. It's like when Bruce sold all our central defenders and never replaced them. I doubt that will happen now, though. I trust UE and the board to have a plan.

For what it’s worth when I first visited the Barton Arms before a game, I did have a weird sense of “this is where supporters traditionally go to have a drink before and after a game”.

I don’t know if that’s fair or accurate and maybe that tradition is now being replaced by the much closer Aston Tavern (which is a different kind of beast, but I like it).

But I think if someone has the chance to go to the Barton Arms when visiting Villa Park, they should.

This reminds me of The Adventurer. I miss that place. :(

The last bit means that Kamara would likely be unhappy if we rejected reasonable bids from the likes of Real, Bayern, City etc.

Jack proves nothing. Do you think Kamara came here for his love of the Villa?  He came here because we offered more money than those in for him. And if a bigger fish comes along offering even more money and the chance to win silverware, he’ll be off.

Actually, the reason he came to us was that only we and Atletico Madrid mafe any serious move to get him. AM though didn't really show any professionalism whilst SG actually showed up himself and acted very serious and very professional talking about our plans. Of course he's well paid, but that wasn't the reason.

Anyway, I wonder if he's the first player I've seen dribbling past a player by just standing still. Could be.  Couldn't really believe my eyes there. I was expecting a pass backwards. As was the leeds player, I guess.

  11. I think you didn't intend this thread so serious, right? I mean, I don't think I can up with anyone in this forum, except for fans from other clubs, that isn't more or less VTID.

We all have different lives that makes you able or unable to attend every game or many games or no games at all.

Someone earlier said that a Villa fan probably should have the dream to come to VP and watch a game, and I can agree with that. I did, and I have been there and I'm still dreaming about it as it's soon 4 very long years since the last time, but unfortunately I think I have to wait a little longer still.

There's no correct answer to the question, I'm afraid. If any I'd say that it is to dream of standing at VP and listen to We are the champions as we've just won the league. And it has to be We are the champions, otherwise you're not a true Villan. :D

  12. I don't know Duran Duran that well so all my song puns were gone before this thread had reached two full pages, but I guess he's Taylor made for us.

As always excited by a promising player signing for us. Hopefully he's worth the money. And also impressed by the way we go about our business. Rumours flying around about this and that player and bang! We've signed a player I hadn't heard anything about before.

I don't even think the Rodrigo one is the proper penalty claim - Mings throwing Gnonto to the floor was just stupid and a foul.  We absolutely got away with one.

I can't agree about that. Gnonto were on Mings and he just brushed him away concentrating on the ball. Almost like you wave away an annoying fly that you hardly even think of, and Mings being the much stronger in this case obviously swept away that little guy too easy. Nah, I can't agree that's a penalty. If he's up in Mings face he has to deal with it and he couldn't. But, that's only my opinion. Oh, it's good to be here again. 😊

  14. My first thought was Benteke. Scoring on a debut for a striker might be expected, but to actually do it can mean so much for a player. I was quite excited for that pairing of him and Bent together. That didn't last for long.

I wish I could've watched many of those mentioned in this thread but one of them really makes me wanting to jump from the balcony. I was in London when Dublin had his debut against spuds. I remember coming off the ferry in Harwich seeing the headlines that we'd signed him. We were about 30 people who'd travelled there to watch arsenal-everton which had been moved to Sunday. I asked one of my friends who's also a Villan if we should take the train to Brum to watch that game but he didn't want to, for some reason. I wanted to but was a little afraid to go alone. Would I get there, would I get a ticket, how could I get a ticket, how much would it cost? Bla bla, bla bla. I regret very few things in my life, but I really regret not trying to go to that game. That could've been my first game at VP. Instead it was 1-1 against boro's 2006. I'm off the balcony right now.

  15. I think we rode our luck a little in the first half. Great block by Douglas Luiz and a brilliant save from Martinez saved us. But we got our game a bit disrupted by two early changes and giving debut to a player who arrived two days ago, from another league and probably not that good in english. All in all we defended rather well and did a good job to keep the lead into the 2nd half.

In the 2nd half I think we improved quite a lot. We started to attack more, created more and apart from that shot from Gnonto they didn't create much. They huffed and puffed but barely scared us and when we scored again they looked really lost. We should've scored another. Instead we did it the Villa way. We invited them back in the game by conceding a soft goal. But apart from a few moments they didn't really threaten that much in the 15 or so minutes that remained after their goal. They fought well, but they are rather blunt. I think we deserved to win in the end.

MOTM Kamara. What a player. We need to improve to keep him, but can we do that we will go places.

  16. I think he had a decent game. Not perfect but good enough. A couple of unnecessarry fouls, a rew missed passes, but also a couple of match winning tacklas and a couple of brilliant passes. And in between he was decent. A steady 6.

  17. Different manager, different players, same awfull result. We almost always manage to find a way to get ourselves knocked out in a poor way. I wasn't angry after the game, I wasn't upset, I just felt like new day, same s**te.

Obviously a poor game from all players. Yeah, Sanson scored a good goal, but he wasn't very good at all. No one really was.

What I don't get is that the reactions on here. I actually thought there'd be more apathic reactions. Ok, this was one of the worst defeats. At home to a 4th division side. But it's happened before and it will happen again.

It was a really poor game, a beyond poor result, but to judge players from this game is quite strange. None of them were focused. Of course they are better than this, each and everyone of them, but they believed their own hype far too much. That's why these results happens.

I hate to go out of the cup this early, especially a season like this who's more or less over now, but I'm quite used to it. AFAICR we've been in 2 finals, lost both, and reached the semi once as long as I've followed the club, which is ca 83 or something. 4 league cup finals, winning two. A couple of semifinals there too. That's not many finals and semifinals spread over 40 years. It's a cup final every 20th year and a semifinal every 40th year and counting. No, two semifinals. We lost to chelsea too. I was thinking about liverpool 92.

Anyway, awfull game, but... We go again. And now I'm running away from all the abuse from the lot of you. :D

There's no talk about this on Man Utd forum whatsoever, the only thing I can find is one of their fans speculating that we might be interested because Arsenal tried to sign him when Emery was their manager, but that was posted in the middle of last week, not as a reaction to these rumours.

Couldn't that some kind of "Hush, if we don't talk about it might happen. Don't jinx this!"?

I'm quite underwhelmed by this rumour. I mean, he's not bad but IMO he's not better than what we have. I definetely prefer Mings.

And I love it when he plays for manure. He's gone worse egety season and I find it hilarious so I really hope he stays.

Very much doubt this rumour, but are they really playing golf in January?
