  1. MON is in. He may have a little to work with inititally, but after that, only time will tell

So we are led to believe :winkold:

But my question was rather, if an agreement regarding the takeover was in place, would it be possible for O'Neill to spend anything at all? Or would our hands be tied until the keys to the chairman's office at Villa Park had officially changed owner?

    MON IS IN.

As I've said - initially he may not have a lot to work with, but in the long term he may.

  3. I've read and heard that it could still take weeks - months to get this sorted, ahhh so frustrating!

I really know nothing about this, but it should be possible to sort this out faster than that? If O'Neill really is lined up to take over tomorrow then I wouldn't exactly be surprised if an agreement regarding the takeover to be imminent.

If an agreement is in place, then surely it would be possible for us to see some transfer action even if we weren't formally taken over yet?

Someone care to enlighten me about this?

  4. But of whom's money will he be spending? :?

I think that there maybe a small amount of borrowing initially

I thought the rules about takeovers meant that we couldn't sell or buy any assets/players?

No cast iron bids are in - Ellis can tell them all to **** off if he wants. But he may allow some spending prior to the Villa being under offer.

Any spending will impact on the potential sale of the club - I doubt, and as stated by the club, there will be any transfer activity until the takeover is completed.

I think that it has gone way past that - and considering the possible purchasing power of a few of the bids, perhaps initially it will be small change

  6. PP, its a done deal so I'm led to believe

You aren't the same lee_av who was claiming 'insider knowledge' on the OS last summer? Seem to remember current members of this board being taken for a ride. If you're a different lee_av, accept my humblest apologies.

no mate - that ain't me - never been on there - as for the knowledge

  7. i will believe it when we have an official announcement from the club to the stock exchange, and not from the media, who lets face it, have been pretty shit with their information so far...

PP, its a done deal so I'm led to believe

  8. .. and if he didn't?

O'Neill might not be pissed off!

Jez, who said he's pissed off? Have I missed something?

It was reported on team talk and a couple of others that O'Neill wasn't happy. Dunno why though cause am sure he wont join until Ellis leaves!

Cast iron then it is then

  9. Is this lifelong Villa fan Mike Neville, who nobody had heard of until now?

    :?

I'm sure that there are many lifelong Villa Fans that I don't know about too. I believe him to be a Villa Fan, I suppose that its down to him if he wants to stay in the shadows until recdently.

  10. h it all.

We need at least a manager before the season starts but Doug and Bill **** that one up as well!!!(

It really is an obsession isn't it

Yup! Love the way he gets info of Ellis and prints it regardless

    .. and if he didn't?

  11. But Richard if we are to believe whats written, then the answer to your second question in previous times when Ellis was going nowhere could well have been no-one.

MON appears not to want to work under Ellis.

    and WHY THE CAPITALS?

getting rid of DOL when he did was a mistake by Ellis as we are seeing now. Even DOL had some sort of plan (or you would hope) to wheel and deal to try and improve the squad. What we have been left with has only benefited Ellis and those who wanted to see DOL go come-what-may

I wanted DOl to go in May - unfortunately he stayed until July. Getting rid of him, whether it was by his own hand has been the catalyst to the revival of this thread.

  12. Oh you Devil's Advocate you, Morley!

Takeover rules dictate that they are not allowed to go public about their bids so by talking to five live Padfield, like Neville has done, is breaking those rules, just like the 'leaks' that have appeared in the Mail which have come from the club, ALLEGEDLY. Not very professional is it?

They have declared their interest - the same as the other groups and tye Villa Board have issued statements to the stock market as such.

    Nothing to see here.
