To be fair, they only said that the next 48 hours would be crucial to the takeover. Nobody said they'd make an announcement in 48 hours. Something big - one way or the other - may have happened in those 48 hours. We'll find out tomorrow when the stock exchange opens I presume.

Why would the board spend money on new players if the club is being sold? If you were deep in negotiations to sell your house, you wouldn't decide to put a new roof on it just before the deal's done would you?

I'd agree with this Mike. In addition I don't think that people can call Ellis a liar and say he lies all the time and then go and believe him over this. That just wouldn't be consistent would it. Can't believe people actually believe this 'sources' malarky. One minute 'sources' are saying "it's off", the next minute sources are saying "no it's not". Surely at least half of these sources are talking rubbish? I'm pretty sure "our sources" is tabloid speak for "we're making this up but because we haven't quoted anyone, nobody will ever know and even if they did, we can't be sued".

Actually potential earnings is often more relevant than current earnings when you're buying a business.

I wish there was actually some news just to stop the rampant jumping to conclusions on here! Nobody has the slightest idea what is going on regarding the takeover. Not a clue. Even if someone did know, it's against the law to tell people without informing the stock exchange first. So stop guessing people!
