  1. I've just come back from the game - YES - just now!! That's how happy I was. Fans were fantastic. I was right next to the Man Utd fans. I gave them some right shit :D

One of the best days of my life. Lived in Manchester for 14 years and never seen Villa beat them. 14 years of hurt finally erased. Delighted.

The whole performance was epic. We deserved it. That is all. :D:D:D:D

  2. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/8400514.stm

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson: "Our form is good so we are confident going into any match. Nemanja Vidic will return against Aston Villa on Saturday and Michael Carrick will partner him in defence. Patrice Evra will play left-back and Darren Fletcher right-back. It's a big game."

Mind games. He also said Villa is always a difficult game for them. Yeah, real hard. Jerk.

Where did you get these odds?

  4. I've decided to support Spurs.

    Superrrrrrrr Spurs Armmmmmmmy!!

Villa are poop guys. Come over to this side. We're so much better. A whole 3 points better. Even though we've been the second top spenders to Man City in the last 18 months. Harry has done it all from scratch though, what a manager. He's better than Fergie that kid, I'm telling you.

    See you all at WHL!!!

EDIT: and oh Villa?! We could take any of your players any day, but we don't want any. They're all rubbish and wouldn't even get on our bench.

  5. I friggin' hate Liverpool.

Everton were unlucky today, big time. Feel sorry for the Russian lad. Bad miss. He was having a very good game until that point. Then he went missing.

Everton will be fine, they're capable of going on a 4 or 5 game winning streak no bother.

  6. Spurs have no new injuries following the Wigan match: King and Cudicini remain out, and although he's now back in training it's too soon for Modric. Everyone else, now including Dos Santos, is available for selection.

I'd guess Harry will make 2 or 3 changes changes from last week: Bassong in for Dawson (since otherwise, without King, we'd have little pace in the CB pairing to cope with the likes of Agbonlahor), maybe Keane instead of Crouch up front, and maybe the pacier and more energetic Jenas instead of Huddlestone in CM.

    So my guess would be:

    ------------ Gomes -------

    Corluka - Woodgate - Bassong - Ekotto

    Lennon - Jenas - Palacios - Kranjcar

    ---------- Defoe - Keane

Tbh, as long as Harry doesn't try to play Crouch, Defoe and Keane all at the same time, and sticks to 4-4-2, I don't mind too much which outfield players he choses to pick alongside Lennon, Palacios and Defoe.

    That's interesting...

I would of thought Spurs would stick with Huddlestone instead of Jenas because of Huddlestone's recent form and Jenas being crap this season (according to Spurs fans anyway). Even though Jenas is energetic and is hard working he just doesn't seem too much of a threat from midfield whereas I think Huddlestone, although not being very quick can make make up for that because he has a decent strike on him and can play great through balls.

Bassong? Is he only just returning from injury or is it a case Dawson will be getting dropped?

Personally, I think Spurs should go for Crouch in this game. Our defence is big, quick and strong and although Defoe and Keane are great you'll need a target man like Crouch to hold the ball up and make room for his partnering striker. Although Crouch is less talented than both Defoe and Keane at scoring goals he'll be a big value for Spurs in this type of game especially from set-pieces where his height might even cause our defence one or two problems.

I was gonna say the same thing. The team Glaston has posted looks very 'small'. Crouch, Huddelstone and Dawson will play imo. Redknapp is no fool and he knows how dangerous we are from set-pieces. Should be a gooden! :)

  7. Agree Bicks, massive blow.

No team should be 3-0 down to Hull at HT. Awful.

dont speak too soon.oh wait im getting a little bit ahead of myself here. ill pop back in 8 days :D

If we're 3-0 down to you at HT in 8 days, I'll buy everyone on this site a pint. 8)

  8. Agree Bicks, massive blow.

No team should be 3-0 down to Hull at HT. Awful.

Lived in Liverpool a while, got a lot of time for Everton. Hopefully they can do THEIR city proud at the weekend.

  9. If Lennon was that good he would have gone to a big club by now.

He is already at a big club.

In any case, what's with the "by now"? He's 3 years younger than Downing, 2 years younger than Ashley Young and 1 year younger than Milner.

You'd love all three in your team. Bet all 3 of the above get more England caps than Lennon - since it means so much to you.

  10. Well, big rumour that someone is going to have to retire with a knee injury, seems to be Victor Anichebe, gutted for the lad. Horrendous, reckless from tackle from Kevin Nolan seems to have cost him his career :|

    Shocking. Hope it's not true.

I remember going to Everton vs WBA last game of the season a couple years back. You were 2-0 down and Anichebe came on and turned an inevitable defeat into a 2-2 draw.

Ended up going home telling everyone to remember this kids name!

  11. he inherited some quality players, the likes of Mellberg, Barry, Laursen, Bouma, Gabby. One by one they have left, and each time they have been replaced by players of lesser quality. We are now seeing the consequences.

Are you suggesting that the squad he inherited was better than the one we have now?

He inherited a handful of decent players, but they were far outnumbered by dross. That's why we were heading for near certain relegation.

(BTW last time I checked Bouma and Gabby were still at the club. And Laursen didn't leave, he was forced to retire.)

No, I'm saying some things dont change.

3 years ago we had 6 quality players - ish. Unfortunately they were surrounded by absolute dross like Samuel , McCann and all which dragged us down.

3 years on and we have about 3 quality players, 4 mediocre players and four shit players dragging us down.

The difference is - or should I say - the 120 million reasons , mean we shouldn't be still in that position.

Put it this way, give Graham Taylor, Ron Atkinson, John Gregory , Brian Little - 120 million quid - and dream of the football we'd be playing !

What 6 quality players did we have 3 years ago?

    Shut up.

    Ermmm

    Off my head here

Barry , Mellberg , Laursen , Bouma , maybe a bit more contraversial , but I think Sorenson was just as good as Friedal has been, and a young Gabby.

On top of these he had Angel - now personally, I didn'tlike Angel - but many on here did. However, I'd rather have Angel tied up in chains, with blindfolds and locked in a suitcase on the pitch than bloody Emile Heskey = so there you go.

I make that 4 undisputed quality players - three of whom would probably make a list of best players we have had in the last 30 yrs , Angel and Sorenson, a young Gabby - AND DONT GET ME STARTED ON CAHILL !!! - not a bad start was it !

Barry was average, not many Villa fans would have been disappointed to see him go.

Mellberg was always a solid player for us, but he'd never get in a top 4 side, I'm sorry. I love Mellberg, but for me, Alpay was always the better defender.

Laursen? What the player that never played? He played a bit under O'Leary, we weren't raving about then. Excelled under MON. Was always a great player in there though, agreed.

Bouma? I take you back to a game at Upton Park where a certain dutchman made his debut. Another who has excelled under MON, not O'Leary.

Sorensen: Give me a break, mr I can't save at my near post. He was decent, but nothing special. Friedel is better. For the same money we got Friedel and Guzan combined. People need to start realising Guzan's progress has a lot to do with Friedel, MON is no fool.

Gabby: He would not be at AVFC now if O'Leary was still in charge, and if he was, he wouldn't be half the player he is now. Excellent guidance from MON.

I don't know if you're slagging off MON, or what? But the guy has done wonders for our football club. He's bought the top end of what he could. It may not be to everyone's taste, but in my opinion, it's working. We have a much better squad than we did three years ago, and the players you mention above - at their ability at the time - wouldn't get in today's AVFC team. Not a chance.

  13. Heskey jumped a lot higher and earlier than Heitinga who was running in, Heskey's elbow caught him on the top of the head as he was coming down, painful no doubt, but I pretty sure there was no intent.

AG, when you see the replay of the Bily tackle I think you'll see why he went.

I've seen it, numerous times. I know I'll probs get loads of abuse about being biased and stuff I think it was yellow at best, thats just my opinion.

I know why the ref gave it though, from the angle he had it looked 2 footed. I even asked the opinion of some neutrals (Reds & Chelsea) who said the same.

    AG, ignore the patronising comments.

However, you're wrong about the sending off, and I know for a fact MON is furious about it. He may not have meant it, but he went in 2 footed, and hurt Stan. You just can't do that in today's game. Just hope Petrov will be okay for Wednesday.

EDIT: I see you have seen it. I haven't, I will make my own decision on it when I see it on MOTD.

  14. Just walking out. Draw fair result. Not one to get on players backs but Heskey was useless and not sure what Sidwell adds. First 30mins we weren't in it at all so draw is good result. Everton will be top 8 again, so this is a good point gained. We can play better, no outstanding performances, maybe Collins and Dunne, cleared everything bar their goal. Bring on the Hammers.

Oh and Fulham 3 Liverpool 1? Haha nice one Rafa. Man, they're shit.
