I ate Guinea pig in Peru and people still give me "that" look as if I'd just killed their child
True. Just don't tell the person what part they are eating and they wouldn't care.To be fair, if it's properly prepared, cooked and served, there isn't much that you can't eat on a 'food animal'.
Offal seems to have gone out of fashion in recent years though.
I always follow it up by telling them I ate dog in North Korea
Eat an animal , it would eat you if it could ( copyright Troy McClure )
Did you really eat dog?

Got day off tomorrow so can watch this one. Hope it's a cracker!

I got Portugal to win but I'm worried about this one. Can see them getting frustrated by an organised USA team in the Manaus heat. Hopefully Ronaldo can provide a bit if magic.
-
I don't think they have different weight modes electronically controlled otherwise it could just be because the battery's been off. I think they're electric racks so not really connected at all. Big difference? Sure it's not in your head?
Defo not. Drove it again today and steering was even worse. Taking it back to the garage tommorrow.

I've far from optimistic of us being taken over this summer but the fact Lerner is not willing to spend or discuss contracts could mean that something is closer to happening than some think. I mean why would he risk losing key players if he wasn't optimistic of us being taken over and it no longer being his concern?
-
I just did a quick points with and without Bentake last season. It's 23 with and 15 without. However we did see him play quite a few games when he was rushed back and clearly not fit. Had he been fully fit I reckon we could have got more from those games.
Now I know it's not as simple as one man but his absence next season is most likely going to hit us hard. As Mantis mentioned our best bet is that he can hit the ground running when he returns and have at least half the season fully fit.
You're right, it's not quite that simple, but at the end of the day he's the only world-class player in the squad. Of course we're going to miss him hugely.
Which is why I think we will get relegated if he misses to many games.

I think both games. Approach the game a little bit more patiently against Italy and they were there for the taking. Costa Rica showed that.
We as a nation need to realise the team isn't as good as the opposition at times and you have to play accordingly.
-
So you think England approached Italy and Uruguay correct way? It was a naive approach in my opinion.
-
That's not what Ghana did
I would rather have frustrated them and not lost to be honest. To be fair England did give Italy and Uruguay a good game. It's not like they didn't try and got their asses kicked 0-4. The games were close. Just not quite good enough, especially in defence.
Ghana are better than us in my opinion. They were also playing a team that did not face elimination if they lost. Makes a massive difference.
I know many wouldn't agree.

You see these teams like Ghana and Iran give the big sides a good game and then you look at England and know that we'd probably do the opposite.
It's because we would approach the game thinking we can take the game to them and beat them rather than trying not to lose and take it from there. But that's what we all want right?

Germany messed up my acca. So close!
I've lumped on Bosina now, straight win.

I could probably do with tidying up my 'man area'. Being single makes you lazy in that respect!
Being married makes you even lazier.

Think this is an overeaction. It is easy for me to say this as being 49 i remember villa in deeper crap than they are now. When the london financier(can't remember his name) came in and ellis followed we were on the brink of extinction.I remember southport going tits up.Younger fans will think this is our darkest hour and i sympathise with them but if you look through our entire history then it is not it just feels like it.I remember the 3rd division, our promotion in 74-75.Our position then was worse than it is now in my opinion. Our darkest hour,no.Bloody bleak and painful, yep, but thats football.
I honestly never knew things had got that bad. I'm even more worried now.

Right then let's talk
You haven't said anything.

Thaksin Shinawatra was looking for a buyer in 2008 through the whole summer. Thaksin did not publicly announce he wanted to sell like Randy, but it was widely acknowledged that he was looking for a buyer/investor. Nobody had a sniff about Mansour from what I recall, certainly not in the media. Mansour was in talks to buy Everton too.
City had no money to spend whatsoever that summer, I think a wealthy member of their supporters trust helped purchase Vincent Kompany before a takeover was officially agreed.
Wasn't their squad already half decent thought? Sven bought some good players like Elano in.
-
You can't just hope that things will be OK, you need a plan, and right now we don't have anything going for us. We have an idiot owner who has belatedly realised that he's not up to the job, trying to sell us but with nothing on the horizon. We have a poor, tactically inept manager, and a rubbish squad. The only hope we have is for a decent new owner, I just hope he doesn't arrive too late.
We got Bentake to.
-
No me neither, didn't realise it was that much, he's good but he isn't worth that amount
I don't think we're going to be spending 7M on a player anytime soon.Livermore gone to hull permanently, another one we could've got, I think he's an excellent player
He probably is considering age etc. 7M in the modern game isn't that much but seems like it would be a record signing for us the way things are.
-
Can see this being a draw. It will probably suit both teams.
-
It's probably because we didn't care. Ask Man City and Fulham what they knew before it happened.
-
I agree
-
If you know/have been recommended/trust the garage in question, then there should be no problem really.
I've had the job done and its driving well now. One thing I've noticed is the steering seems to have stiffened up. Any idea what could have caused this when changed clutch/flywheel?
-
We set up and played to beat teams that are maybe just a little better than us rather than not to lose. I reckon if Roy set us up the way he would really like too we'd still be in the competition now.
He wouldn't have many fans though. He is almost in a lose lose situation.
-
My worry is that in terms of under Lerner I am not sure we have seen our darkest hour yet.
Me to. I don't think he's done.

Just saw the teams. On paper Portugal really should be winning this.
