Just looking at the players out of contract and released, it’s quite a list and a good opportunity to rebuild. It’s gonna need some cash though.

    Gary Cahill - contract expired

    Scott Dann - contract expired

    Nathaniel Clyne - contract expired

    Wayne Hennessey - contract expired

    James McCarthy - contract expired

    Mamadou Sakho - contract expired

Patrick van Aanholt - contract expired

    Mamadou Sakho - contract expired

    Connor Wickham - contract expired

if we sell Engels, getting Cahill (or Dann) on reasonable wages as 4th CB wouldn't be the worst thing

I think he will be like Matt Le Tissier...Club for life.

Jack is a big fish, with us, with Owners who have the wherewithal to build around him. Jack is an icon at Villa and has a say, his opinion is valued and he is revered by the crowd.

Aston Villa will gradually fulfil Jacks Dreams....The clubs who are all clamouring for Jack, have their own issues, why should he join clubs with issues, when we seem to have a clear pathway to the promised land.

Jacks patience will pay dividends, because many stars will want to join him and Ollie and Carney and Louie and Emi.

We are on the up, where the sneaky 6 have issues of desperation to maintain their status.

I see all pathways leading to Villa for Jack........I couldn't have had that confidence 5-10 years ago.

First two lines are what I'm hoping as well. but then you drifted off a bit.

Yes, other clubs have their issues, but right now the promised land is playing for titles and european spots. we may have a path to it, but ManU, ManC, Chelsea,... they are already there even if they have issues. Spurs and Arsenal have big issues and are struggling, but they still are a bigger name for players right now.

Stars wanting to join Ollie (good player, with still room for improvement, but not sure he will reach Kane status), Carney and Louie (they could be great, they could be the next Fonz, Green or Hepburn-Murphy)?? One can hope and dream, but that is not something to keep Jack here today as it is not the case today and there are no guarantees this will be in a year or two

  3. So Spurs play away to Leicester, who are in full CL fight and West Ham play Southampton at home. Unfortunately Everton are away at Man City. So it is very likely Spurs get the Conference League ticket in 7th, not even Europa League. I can imagine this makes Kane want to leave even more and maybe a few others will walk out as well (Son?).

Our victory could have really hit Tottenham hard and set them back a few years which makes it more likely for us to overtake them

Seems when I looked at wiki earlier they hadn't updated it

Witsel is in too, katelaere and verschaeren both out, both need moves to the PL...

Both Verschaere and De Ketelaere are far from ready to be regular PL players. They have the talent but are not ready yet.

A grand total of 5 defenders in Belgium's Euro 2020 squad :) Although they have Castagne down as a midfielder so we'll say 6.

Same with Meunier. 5 players for 3 positions (CB) seems fair enough. Also Dendoncker can also play in central defence.

Dosen't matter if Milan win v Cagliari tonight. Benevento drew 1-1 so Cagliari have nothing to play for as they're safe.

Ah, i overlooked the game in hand for Milan

Applying this to Juve instead of Lazio and looking at their results against the teams around them means that since Napoli won today and if Milan also win tonight then Juve need Napoli to not win against Verona in the last round if they are to get into the CL

    Come on Milan and Napoli.

Unfortunately, Milan play away at Atalanta, so very likely to lose.

I think Juve will finish 4th.

Would anyone take Amavi back on a free as left back competition?

Yes, he’s an upgrade on taylor, free and he would push Targett for a starting position (a youngster or an older elmo type would not challenge Targett). He also knows the club and league so that would make it easier for him to adapt.

And again, he’s free. If we can use the 5-10m we would otherwise spend on a back up LB to spend extra on a much needed winger, that would really be a better option for our team.

New York Post reporter quits citing pressure to write incorrect story about Kamala Harris

Laura Italiano claimed she was forced to write a report about migrant children being given a copy of the VP’s book as part of a welcome kit

A reporter at Rupert Murdoch’s New York tabloid has resigned after she claimed she was forced to write an incorrect front page story about migrants and Kamala Harris.

The New York Post published an article on 23 April headlined “Kam on in”, which claimed migrant children were being given welcome packs that contained copies of the US vice-president’s 2019 children’s picture book, Superheroes Are Everywhere. A follow-up article claimed thousands of copies had been distributed.

In reality, officials said a single copy of the book had been donated by a member of the public as part of a call for presents to give to unaccompanied child migrants.

    And another classic:

    Quote

"Biden's climate requirements" will "cut 90% of red meat from diet" to a "max 4 lbs per year" and "one burger per month."

One day after President Joe Biden pledged to cut U.S. greenhouse gas emissions in half, Fox News and Fox Business Network personalities repeatedly and baselessly claimed that the move would also force Americans to say goodbye to hamburgers and steaks.

"To meet the Biden Green New Deal targets, America has to, get this, America has to stop eating meat," said Fox Business Network host Larry Kudlow, a former economic adviser to President Donald Trump, on April 23. "No burger on July 4. No steaks on the barbecue."

Biden’s climate plans do not include restrictions on red meat consumption, a White House official confirmed to PolitiFact. Biden never mentioned red meat when he announced his plan to reduce U.S. greenhouse gas emissions by 50% to 52% below 2005 levels by 2030, a move that would double the U.S.’s commitment under the 2015 Paris climate agreement.

But across several Fox News and Fox Business Network programs, the story told was different. Hosts such as Kudlow and Fox News’s Jesse Watters wrongly claimed that Americans would have to take steaks off their grills in order for the U.S. to hit Biden’s target, while the networks’ chyrons and graphics gave the same false claims a visual flair.

One Fox News graphic, for example, said "Biden’s climate requirements" would "cut 90% of red meat from diet" by holding Americans to "max 4 lbs per year" and "one burger per month."

But yeah, 'the liberal media are full of fake news'.

    Man Utd gonna win it.

They are just head and shoulders above the rest.

Bit ridiculous that CL teams gets rewarded by failure and gets handed a free ticket into the Europa League if they go out of the group stage.

This is mostly designed for clubs from smaller countries. As the big teams are separate as much as possible in the group stage, there are always 2 top teams in every group. So it’s almost impossible for the champions of Belgium or Austria to survive the groups. PL their day, smaller clubs can take on a big club (a home and away match), but these mini leagues make sure big clubs can make up for it.

for a team like club Brugge, getting 3rd and into the Europa league is good result because they should be able to compete. For ManU this is a consolation prize.

Never mind the Super League, the day Man City win the Champions League is the day football truly dies.

That day will be this season and it's thoroughly depressing.

That happened when chelsea bought it years ago. Man City or PSG doing it would not be new. Artificial big clubs.

  12. Ted Cruz sure knows how to pick his battles.

What good could possibly come from getting in a twitter war with a talkshow host? He's just going to embarrass himself some more

I think both the six breakaway clubs and the rest of the league just need to be prepared to let go. The breakaway clubs just need to understand that a business where they spend money they haven't earned yet to stay ahead of everyone else just isn't sustainable. Like everyone else they need to build a great team, have a great team and rebuild another great team. They can't be on top always. It's like that monkey trap where the monkey puts a hand in a jar, grab the food and is trapped. Because it doesn't have the mental capacity to understand that all it has to do is to open it's hand, release the food and be free.

I know as Villa supporters we mildly dislike bluenoses, but calling them monkeys seems a bit harsh

What SHOULD happen is those teams don't sign any players for a year or 2 and try to dispose of whoever they possibly can.

They won't though, they'll fight to keep their players and try to sign some stupid expensive new player's.

I don't know if that would help. Didn't Chelsea have a transfer ban last year? they just picked up where they left off and splashed the cash afterwards. Admittedly, 2 years should have more effect.

Still hoping for points deduction (won't happen). Fulham, Sheffield and WBA should be screaming for this to have chance of staying in the PL
